I’m one of those mothers that believe that education starting at home. I love to introduce my children to different ways of learning. I currently have 2 pre-schoolers who are in the process of identifying letters, words and pictures. This product couldn’t be more perfect. My children love to play with the soup cans in my panty and now they have their own but can engage in learning not just their alphabets but counting while playing. The alphabet soup sorters contain 209 pieces in total. They include: an upper case letter, lower case letter and 5 different pictures of items that start with the letter indicated on the can. The pictures also contain the name of the picture of the back. Pros: Easy to use for all ages. Aids in learning. Cans can also be used as counting tools as well as building blocks. Great education building block for early learners. Multiple uses. Cons: Made out of cardboard, bends easily. I recommend this to ANY parent with younger children. Great tool for the early learners.

This is a toy that can quickly become cluttered if not supervised properly. The "cans" are made from a sturdy cardboard with a firm plastic lid that can easily come off. Each can is a specific letter, and inside each can is an assortment of strong cardboard cutouts of the corresponding letter with pictures associated with that particular letter. This is a very fun visual way to learn letters. I find this an invaluable resource in my homeschooling. My two year old loves exploring what's in each can. My five year old can use the printed words on the individual cards to learn what each word looks like, spelling, etc. The pictures are vibrant in color. If you have the "E" can (for example) you have pictures of Eggs, Elephant... and the first letter of those words are bright red to highlight the letter of the can it comes from. This makes it very easy for a child to identify which card belongs in which can. This toy is a type of flash card game, but in a more playful way. The box this educational game comes in is perfect storage for the cans, too. So, don't toss that box away!

This is a great tool to help a young child learning ABC's. If your child is learning letters - let him stack the alphabet cans and put the ABC's in order. Spell his name with the cans. If your child has mastered the upper case letters, great! Open up the cans and get the lower case letter card from each can. Now he can practice matching the lower case card with the correct alphabet can. If your child has progressed to learn phonics and spelling, he can move on to the picture cards - 5 for each letter, and each card shows picture on one side, and the word spelled out on the other side. He can try to sort the pictures into the right letter can. There are endless games to play with your child, with letter recognition, sorting, phonics, and spelling. The only gripe I have is the size. I did not realize how bulky it would be. Each of the card is designed to attract kids with photos, so it cannot be too small – it’s about three-quarters of the size of a poker card. Five cards need to fit into a cylindrical fake soup can. Then 26 of these soup cans have to fit into a box. So this toy alone takes up a huge chunk of storage space. I can only leave it on the floor in the playroom.

This product came in a much larger box than I expected. I did not expect the sorter to be quite as big as they were. This actually make it easier for little ones to handle. The cans are almost the size of your average soup can and come with a lid that looks like it came from a play doh can. I did like the fact that many of the pieces were shaped like the letter that matched each can and that there were different animals that started with each letter all of them were shaped. One of the things you can do it separate out each of the animal pieces then have all the alphabet pieces scattered and have the kids place them in each container. This helps the kids identify each letter as well as being able to identify each animal that goes with the letter. This set not only helps with identification of each letter and animal it also helps with dexterity. I also think it would be a good idea to have kids trace the letters to encourage a better understanding of how to write each letter. And since they are a good size for the little ones this is a good learning tool for the kids. I also think this could work well in a kindergarten or preschool class to help the kids learn in a much more fun way.

The Learning Resources Alphabet Soup Sorters is a great way to teach and reinforce early speech and writing skills. It consists of 26 Alphabet Soup cans - one for each letter. Each can contains seven heavy cardboard pieces, one capital letter, one lower case letter and five items that start with that letter. On one side is a photo of the item and on the opposite side the word is spelled out. The cans are heavy cardboard and seem quite sturdy as are the pieces inside them. The graphics are bright and colorful and very appealing to children although some pictures may not be readily recognizable to very young kids. While this as a great toy for teaching the alphabet, it is not a toy that you can hand a three year old and walk away. There are over two hundred pieces and could be a nightmare if scattered around a playroom. This toy is a great teaching tool for an adult to introduce letters, the sounds they make, and the shapes of upper and lower case letters but it is not a video game that runs in response to electronic clicks. Be advised: This is a LARGE item. Each can is the size of a regular soup can and there are 26 of them. My advise is to keep the original box for storage purposes.

The Learning Resources Alphabet Soup Sorters is a fun learning tool for children in Preschool or Kindergarten. There is one can for each letter of the alphabet. Each can contains the capital and lowercase letter and cardboard photos of items which start with the can's letter. The cardboard photos are very realistic and made with vibrant attractive colors. Each cardboard photo has the actual word on the back. For example, if the photo is an egg then the word "egg" will be on the back of the photo. I would like to see one thing added to the soup containers in addition to the photo cards and upper and lower case letters. A manipulative item placed in each can would be an enhancement to the Learning Resources Alphabet Soup Sorters. My six year old daughter, who is in kindergarten seemed to enjoy opening each can to see what was inside. She read and showed each card. She also initiated conversation about some of the photos on the cards. My daughter had fun while learning about letters, the photos and words on the photos. The price of the item is reasonable considering it could be used at home or in a classroom setting. The quality seems to be good and would probably last through several children.

Hello I received this product as part of the spark reviewer program, and I'm very happy with it! Let's start: The toy comes packed in a big box which contains a "can" (made of cardboard) per alphabet letter (when i saw the picture on the internet I thought that it was made of clear plastic with paper inside, anyway, what matters is the bright idea of the toy, not its construction), and has a plastic lid. Inside each can there is an uppercase and a lower case letter along with some images which its word starts with the letter of the can, and in the backside of the image is the written word for it. So if you want to teach a kid about words and letter association you can mix all the contents and make him sort it and put in the correct can. I'm planning to use this with my nephews and my little kid when he grows up a bit (for my 7 yo boy this is far easy, in fact he wasn't even interested in the game). Now, if you are planning to use this in a school, I believe that it can work great to make little kids understand better the words and letters. The only downside is maybe the construction of the can...I believe that it can be easily bent, or deformed if you don't align the lid properly...other that that this is very good! highly recommendable! Best regards

These Alphabet Soup Sorters from Learning Resources are very nice. They are about twice as big as I thought they would be. You get uppercase letters, lowercase letters and a few pictures with words on them in each can. My 4 year old can sort the letters and my 7 year old can sort the words. It's excellent for my 4 year old to learn his alphabet. He loves these. If I don't supervise them, they make a super mess though. The only things I don't like about these are that the cans are made of cardboard, the lids are a little hard to get on and you can't stack them. My son really wanted to stack them. Overall I would still recommend them though. We will use these often.

Amazing concept to help children learn their alphabet! Each individual tin comes with its own pictures cards inside to help the child learn their letter! I received this product from Spark Reviewer and gave it to my friend who has a four year old son who is just now learning his ABC ' s and she was overjoyed with it. The visual appearance of the whole alphabet spelled out on these small cans are great, not only can the child use the pictures inside to learn the letters they can use the cans themselves to spell out words. My friend said within hours her son was spelling out words like ball, cat, dog, and was able to visualize them on the cards that go with each can, great product! No sharp corners or sharp edges, the pictures are cardboard so be careful with little ones such as one year olds who can put them in their mouths, it does have a warning for three years and up so just be wary of younger children getting their hands on these toys. The colors are great and appealing for a child and my friend says keeps her son entertained for hours, far better than a video game or television show could! Well done Spark Reviewer for proving an excellent learning tool, a hands on one at that instead of a computer based one that schools are all using now, the basics are the best. I recommend this to every parent with a child who is learning their ABC's nit only is it easy to use but fun and educational at the same time.

This is definitely an overwhelming set to use all at once. I love that there are enough in one can to focus on a few letters at a time. My kids enjoy the great pictures and shapes of the contents. For my older child (age 4), we practice sounding out the words on the back. The beginning of each word is highlighted so it's easy to identify the beginning letter. This is great for pre-reading and reading practice. Made of durable cardboard -- both the contents and the containers. The lids are made of a flexible plastic.
