I bought this leap frog for my 3 year old daughter. I downloaded a free game with shapes. She loves the game and although she knew her shapes there are more shapes she doesn't know and the leap pad tells her the name of the shape as she is playing the game. They add in extra shapes that are not being used so it gets the kids to think and figure it out. Haven't gotten anymore games, but she really enjoys and understands how to play this one. I thought the screen would be a little clearer, but it works and she enjoys it. This is a good buy and this is the first game console for my daughter and she took to it right away.

This is our family's 3rd Leapster...our 9 year old wasn't willing to give hers up to her little brother! Have had nothing but wonderful things go on with all of our Leapsters! I would suggest this for any child three years old on up!
Keeps the Grandkids entertained
We have 4 grand kids (ages 3 - 9) that love to play with the Leapster 2. It sure keeps them from getting bored, even the oldest. I've noticed that the younger ones are picking up numbers, colors, spelling etc. They all seem to love it. I'm going to pick up another, so they don't argue over who's turn it is.
not sure if this is true learning toy
i haven't given this to my 4 yr old yet. the dragon game i downloaded free doesn't do very much except bump into numbers. i really hope there are games that help my son learn numbers letters and other things. i will need to try them.
I bought a Leapster 2 in a Walmart store for Christmas for my daughter. The same day she played with it for 5 minutes and the game wouldn't let you selects player with the pen. Unfortunately I lost the receipt and had to buy another one online. After a day of playing with it the same problem. I hope the protection coverage will fix the problem. Since the manufactures know this is a Childs toy it should be more durable and reliable. When the Leapster 2 works it is a great educational toy that my child enjoys and had a variety of activities.
easy to use nice graphics just not enough games or apps available for leapster 2 seems like it is the obsolete unit.
I can't find games for this thing
I guess they just don't sell games for this anymore I can't find them anywhere
Was great while it worked.
Purchased this for my duaghter and it only worked for one week. It will turn on but the screen will not let you make any selections. This now makes the second leapster we have had this issue with. Hope I will be able to get my money back from Wal-Mart as I purchased this on line, I have one unhappy little girl!!!
Already not working
Do not buy this item. This is my second leapster, because the first one broke. It keeps reading no batteries, despite new ones. This newest Leapster lasted one week before the screen stopped recognizing the pen. Will attempt to return. I am very disappointed in the Leapster as a product and only bought the second one because I already had lots of useless games from the first one.
When this game system first came out, I hear it was $80 plus. Which would have been a BIG rip off. The graphics are very poor, it is not too easy to control. Bought it for under 40 bucks, and then I find out that Leapster 2 games are very hard to find. It does take some punishment though. Also it was a real pain to go into their website and register and download the free game. It is nothing like the DSI or any other touch pad system.
