Good tv at a good price.
Television is going on two years and still functions well, even after our toddler knocked it backwards into the wall. A quick mount and that was rectified. Picture is excellent and with the addition of a streaming stick makes for an excellent set.

Simply Amazing!! Dream come True!!

Lets start by saying this tv is 49in and under 400.00 !! The tv it's self is very sleek and attractive!! The picture quality is wonderful and has 2 hdmi hook ups. One hdmi is a little hidden being placed on the back side of tv as well but located on an inside corner. I purchased 2 of these tvs as a Christmas gift. Loved it so much i ended buying myself one:) Don't judge this tv on my average rating pertaining to the sound. Its not a big deal and is loud but i have it on 88 out of 100. My solution is to use surround sound at some point but have watched plenty movies without and can hear it in another room but not overpowering like some tvs. Again the price is about half that of other brands that aren't as popular in ratings. LG is one of the best !! Its as if its too good to be true but have no worries, they are new NOT refurbished !! In conclusion i am very thankful that LG was so affordable and offer a huge tv with great color and features. I couldn't be more happier :D

Great TV!

We upgraded from a 40" Sony HDTV and wow is the picture on the LG so much clearer, vibrant and fantastic! This was on the lower price range, but all the good reviews got us to buy it. Glad we did. We are football fans and watching sports on this TV is a joy. Very quick installation and easy to operate.

Entirely worth it!

This TV is great. It comes in a very easy to assemble design. The packaging it comes in is not bulky or cumbersome to open. The design itself is very sturdy and not easily tipped over if you use the stand. Very light weight as well. The picture is pretty spectacular. Very clear, several different settings to choose from and adjust to your liking. The only very tiny gripe would be the sound. It is just ok, but sufficient. I would suggest a sound bar to accompany this TV. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the purchase!

Good budget tv, but no media player!

I didn't see any reviews on this model, so I figured I might as well write a few words about it so far... It's very slim and looks nice. The picture is great, and has low energy consumption (estimated $10/yearly cost). I bought this to play the occasional movie or tv show from a portable hard-drive and watch a football game or two on Sunday's. I bought an RCA antenna that works great for local channels. The stand feels sturdy, as I just have it sitting on a fold-out table. Overall a good tv that I would recommend, but I have two gripes. One; it doesn't have an internal media player. It's not that big of a deal since I just bought a cheap one on eBay, but it is just something simple that all tv's should have these days. And number two negative is the speaker volume. Quality is decent, but they are pretty quiet. I'll probably hook up a stereo system eventually, but for a small bedroom it's okay for the time being. I've only had it a few weeks, so hopefully I'll remember to update this in the future to review the longevity.

A nice , mid range T.V.

I have had my TV for about 6 months. I really like it. This is my first smart TV. Still learning how to use everything. Sound is just OK. I hooked my TV up to a sound bar which makes all the difference in the world. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great Picture, Bad Audio

I loved the picture on this TV, but the audio is very poor. Turning it all the way up made it so it was a little hard to hear if there was any extra noise in the room, like one of my kids talking. I didn't want to spend another $100 on a sound bar. I have a stereo that has an audio input where the TV was to be located, but the TV has no analog audio output, just an optical output, so I couldn't plug it in. I was very disappointing. I ended up returning the TV and getting a 42", but the smaller TV had much better audio, an analog output, Wifi, and 120 mhz, all for a better price. And the picture is about the same.

Great tv until it died

Loved this tv until the led backlight started flashing. Its a shame since it didnt even last 5 years. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Flickering on and off

We have had this TV just one month shy of 2 years with absolutely no complaints. A couple of months ago it developed a white spot leading me to think one of the LEDs fell off. My husband could live with that. This morning it started flickering on and off and is completely unwatchable. I'm researching now to purchase another brand. 1. Default 60hz when you turn ON this feature then is 120hz.A lot of LCD's has this feature but with different names!
by yemaflex
2. It has 60hz.
by CommunityAnswer
3. Motion Clarity Index (MCI) rate is 120 not the refresh rate.
by kushman1
4. 60 is correct. The "120" is a marketing gimmick which confused you into thinking you were getting 120 when - in fact - it's 60. "Motion Blur" is not a meaningfull term.

1. This TV is LED only. The page needs to have some updates made.
by CommunityAnswer
2. Most LED's are LCD, the super expensive LED's are not. For anything in this range, it's fine. Of course if you want to see blemishes on faces, spend $5000! The human eye can only take in so much detail. PS, This is a GREAT picture!

3. Hello Dawn. Yes you're absolutely correct, LCD and LED are 2 different things! However, the LG LB5550 49" 1080p 60Hz Class LED HDTV Model # 49LB5550 is an LED LCD! All the TVs that you see or hear advertised as LEDs are LCD TVs! LED are light emitting diodes and provide the lighting source for LED LCDs. Older LCDs used a technology referred to as Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps (CCFL). Over the years, you probably have heard that LCDs do not produce as good a black level as Plasma TVs and that colors on them looked washed out. So to improve these drawbacks on LCDs, LEDS started to be employed in the manufacturing of these LCDs. LEDs required less space so TVs could be made thinner and they are more efficient and can be controlled more than the CCFL technology (I'm simplifying this, it's a lot more complicated!). To distinguish this new technology, a new category was born, namely LED LCD. Soon though, the LCD part was dropped from name and people now just refer to them as LEDs, but the correct term is LED LCDs! LED just refers to the lighting source...IFV

1. Hello Rey. Your inquiry is appreciated. How are you currently viewing TV? Do you have cable service or are you using an antenna? Cable set top boxes give you different ways to connect to your TV and the best picture would be with the HDMI cables. After that would be the Component cable and then the composite cable. If you're getting TV via OTA (Over-the-Air) transmissions, then you may want to upgrade the internal/external antenna. Reception from an antenna is also dependent on your environment like trees, tall buildings, being in a valley or too far from the transmitting tower can all affect the signal and in some cases, inclement weather!...IFV

2. If you have a good digital antenna and get a decent signal strength [there is a map of signal strength at], this TV will give an excellent picture. To get a perfect picture, hook up a computer to the TV with an HDMI connection and you're in heaven!
by francis
3. You do not need cable television to view high definition content. You can receive high definition video over the air with an antenna, over a satellite dish, using Blu-ray or streaming video online.
