LG 65LB5200 LB5200 Series - 65" Class (64.5" viewable) LED TV

Key Features and Benefits:

  • IPS panel: knock it to know it
The secret behind LG TV's superior viewing angle and quality is the panel. Just as the quality of the beans determines the quality of the coffee, the quality of the panel determines the quality of the TV. The IPS panel used by LG is the reason why LG LED TVs have clearer, more consistent and sturdy screens.
  • True Color Accuracy
IPS offers the most identical color impression to that of the original image in every precise pixel of HD resolution.
  • Wide Viewing Angle
IPS shows the most consistent color and contrast from all angles among LCD panels.
  • Blur-Free Clarity
IPS is decidedly superior to the conventional panels in the clarity of its pictures during fast motion display, allowing blur-free, crystal-clear pictures.
  • Stable Screen
IPS panels are stable and study, and resistant to damage, as opposed to weak competing panels; just try a simple knock or poke at the screens.
  • Triple XD Engine
Enjoy sheer perfection of color, contrast and clarity with the all-powerful Triple XD Engine. LG's latest and most advanced Triple XD Engine brings the highest level of excellence in color, contrast, and clarity for the best picture quality and performance.
  • Picture Wizard III
Picture Wizard III allows you to easily adjust picture elements such as black level, color, tint, sharpness and backlight levels.
  • Clear Voice II
Enjoy clear and audible dialog with Clear Voice II. Clear Voice II automatically recognizes and enhances the volume of human voices in movies and shows to make them more audible against background sound.
  • USB Movie
Simply connect your USB or external hard drive to the USB port to play its contents on your TV screen.
  • DivX HD
LG TVs are DivX Certified, and can play DivX video up to 1080p HD. Enjoy the vast variety of premium content from the Internet through DivX HD.
  • Smart Energy Saving
The Smart Energy Saving feature helps users to be a little greener by limiting power consumption. The feature includes back light control for adjusting brightness, a screen-off function that turns the picture off for playing audio-only, and the Standby Mode Zero function which allows the TV to effectively hibernate, using zero electricity.

Great picture with alittle work!
This T.V. is ultimately a great buy. With a Disney Pixar movie disc with the maximizer under setup. I was able to tweak T.V. settings to a near perfect picture. Small drawback was you have to manually turn off the trumotion when your not watching sports. The trumotion off during movies eliminates the soap opera effect. The sound is pretty good without a surround system buts lacks bass of course. Purchased the 1000w RCA surround sound receiver set and that provided to pop I was looking for. For under a 1000.00 bucks for T.V. and surround you can't beat the price.

LG 65LB5200 - Nice TV for the first year
Purchased the TV from Walmart December of 2014 for about $1000. The TV worked well for about a year and a half then we noticed that a horizontal line appeared about a quarter of the way up from the bottom. The line went about half way across from left to right and was slightly off color of what was above and below, like the pixels were slow to react. I was told that the pixels are chained together and one begins to fail this will occur. We decided to live with it for the time being after being told that the repair would be a minimum of $500. In early August 2017 a second line appeared about a quarter way down from the top. This one is similar to the other one only this is much slower to react. Rather than being slightly off shade it is inverse of the surrounding colors. I talked to LG who provided two repair centers and I called them both. They both told me that the panel would have to be replaced and that would be $1400 not including any other needed parts or labor. I asked if this is a common problem and they said, that they see or hear about it frequently but not just from LG. They also said that they don't see LG as any less reliable than the other major brands. We're now looking for a new TV. My recommendation would be to buy what ever TV, but buy an extended warranty. Read the extended warranty to see if is prorated. LG warranty is only one year.

Great TV for the price!

First I own nothing but LGs in my house, they are just good quality. I just bought the 65in 11/22/14 and so far I love it. The HD looks great and my blurays are stunning! I don't know how regular TV looks but HD looks amazing on this set. Even the sound is decent for this tv. There are 3hdmi which is good since most of my other LG TVs have 2. Sometimes you can see the edge lighting when switching scenes but it really is not noticeable; I only notice because I'm reviewing everything on the tv. The only true complaint I have is there is no Optical input for a audio cable. I have an LG sound bar, this year model and I can't even use it on this tv because it has no optical input (only had coaxial). So I will have to use a converter or just use my Bluray. Otherwise it's a great TV and amazing HD picture! I would buy again.

Great Wise Choice

This TV was picked up today after ordering on-line! Pick-up went smoothly with congenial store employees helping the transfer to our vehicle. Not sure what to expect but very happy with our purchase. Not a smart TV but great for our needs. Picture quality is excellent with our High Definition satellite service. Comes with 3 HDMI's, which is enough for us. Fine tuning was easy to accomplish, based on our needs. Based on the price, I felt we got a great deal!!!

Huge value, huge screen

This TV cannot directly compare to a higher - end TV like the Samsung H6350, but competes directly with the Vizio E series and lower-end Samsung H6203. This 65" is a VA panel, so black levels are great, as long as you aren't viewing in a very dark room (light bleed and flashlighting is obvious in the dark). In medium light, this set is great. Black levels aside, the colors are nice and clarity is good. There's motion blur, but not a terrible amount. Backlight strobing is obvious at times, making the image flicker. Overall, for the price, you can't get a better TV in this size.

Decent TV

I recieved this item a few days after the estimated shipping date which is no big deal just a tad frustrating. I was really impressed with the sound first off and the picture quality is acceptable. the main problem i have with the tv is that every once in a while the picture will start to skip and jump a little like its trying to catch up with the movie. other than that i am happy with my purchase and would recommend because of the great price and decent quality.

Disappointed

I was pretty happy with this t.v. until I bought my husband a sound bar for his birthday--for being a newer t.v. we were shocked to find out it isn't equipped to accommodate the optical audio cable and instead has to run through the cable box. Tried to find some sort of adaptor, but apparently one does not exist.

Never buy a TV shipped to your home.

I purchased this TV and opted to have it shipped directly to my house rather than site to store. After passing the estimated arrival date, I called the shipper, who notified me of an arrival the monday after the Super Bowl. It arrived without a box, stand already attached, and accessories in a manila envelope. The shipper said it was delivered to the wrong house and tossed me a T-shirt. Wow! Sure enough, the screen had pressure shadows all over. After more hassle, I received a new unit and the damaged one was picked up. To top it off, Walmart claimed they never received the original back. Upon notifying them I was contacting a legal advice, Walmart contacted me saying they made a mistake and found it in their return center. I'm not sure what the deal was with that. NEVER buy a large or expensive item from here.

Problems right out of the box

First off, the picture quality on this TV is above average, and the size is perfect for watching movies or playing games. The problem I have with this set is there is a tremendous amount of backlight bleed over 40-50% of the screen. It started as broad arcs from one side of the set to the other, covering the top 2/3 of the screen. I've noticed over the last couple of weeks, that the light bleeding through is less noticeable in the middle of the screen, and it seems to have moved to the four corners. Now it looks like there are four huge "clouds" in the corners of the set. You can't see it when the scene is bright, but for any nighttime scene, and pretty much every game I've played, it is very noticeable and very distracting. It's one of those things where once you see it, you can't unsee it... Overall, I'm very disappointed with this purchase. I would say, if you have the means to pony-up a couple hundred more for a better TV, do it! I went cheap and got exactly what I paid for...

LG TVs are know to last for 2 years at most

I had a 47'' inch LG 3d LED TV for about 2 years, when the screen just went black out of nowhere. LG's warranty is one year after purchase, and if you try and call their support to fix your problem, they will just try to sell their expensive repair services. And by the way, do NOT expect to talk to somebody in US or who even cares to stand by their products. Stay away from this brand or purchase additional warranty, which you will surely need.
