Best snowspeeder Ever!
May 4th finally arrived, it was a long wait but totally worth it, I had alot of fun building it, specially the wings, the designer is a genius! The wings are just full of intricate details that make this set unique, the colors are great and the stickers go perfect and blend in nicely, the one thing I didnt really like was the cockpit seating area was too large for the minifigs, but no big deal the figs look good on the stand anyway! Waiting 1 hr for the store to open was totally worth it! BUY IT!! YOU WONT REGRET IT!

Too Sensitive, too inappropriate parts
This could be a GREAT Lego, but when you try to hold it, the piece falls apart - primarily because the bottom uses a long single brick to hold multiple pieces when it could have been at least 2 rows wide. On top, there are too many problems trying to assemble the rear top - the parts just do not fit together as defined. Finally, the stand is not strong enough to support this huge item

75144 Snowspeeder UCS – Rogue Two

This Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) Snowspeeder #75144 was a very fun build and the model looks great! I am impressed with the weight and design. As with any ship which has near identical wings I was pleased with how much fun both wings were to build. They did not feel redundant like tie fighter wings are.

The cockpit has a newly designed windshield just for this set. It blends nicely with the side windows. When you swivel the rear gun it moves the gunner's handles. There is a retractable landing gear, although the model is a bit front heavy so the landing gear is more for looks than functional in my opinion. The canopy opens giving clear view of the cockpit which has a lot of detail. The air brakes (top and bottom) are both movable. The top are opened by turning the engines. The bottom air brakes can be positioned manually. However, they both look just like the movie.

The underside wings have intake fins. It's a nice detail if looking underneath and marks to LEGO for thinking of the whole model and not just the top.

The guns are the proper length and maintain their angle through the pylon in the middle of the wing. The nose and wings are not blocky but use plates all around. The rear cooling fins are one of my favorite parts of this model; they genuinely look like cooling fins.

Inside the cockpit there are a number of stickers on the front, both sides, and in the back which adds a level of detail not achieved by typical printed pieces.

The two minifigures are basically identical except the pilot helmet vs the gunner helmet. The pilot helmet is blackish and thus far consensus says it belongs to Zev Senesca (Rogue Two in Empire Strikes Back). Sadly, he was killed during the Battle on Hoth. However, there is debate whether his helmet in the movie is a very dirty white or actually grey. The symbols around the ears is what identifies it as belonging to Zev.

What makes the minifigures unique to this set only is the printing on both arms.

Before I get to pros and cons I want to talk about stickers. There are a lot of them… 31 to be exact. I know a lot of people complain about a high number of stickers, but stickers do add a level of detail not otherwise attainable. Otherwise, LEGO is printing a lot of unique bricks for this one set thus increasing the set's cost. However, application of the stickers adds a level of complexity to the set so it's not just the build but how well you apply the stickers to complete the build.

However, I have a request for LEGO:

Dear LEGO,

If you're going to produce stickers with writing, I

suggest doing what model makers do – the stickers

with writing should have a clear background. This

way the sticker does not modify the look of the

piece it is covering. By coloring the background of

the sticker, the sticker becomes more obvious,

especially when the white of the sticker is a bright

white but the white LEGO piece is not and will

eventually fade at a different rate than the sticker.

Just a thought.

Pros:

Excellent rendition of Rogue Two's T-47 Snowspeeder from The Empire Strikes Back. The stickers add a level of detail not otherwise achieved inside and out.

The harpoon gun looks great. The movement of the gun also moves the gunner's handles inside the cockpit - very cool. I do wish there was a “harpoon” of some kind loaded into the end of the gun.

The mounting and angle of the main guns is great and looks very authentic to the movie. The mounting is very stable.

Movable air brakes on the top and bottom are very nice for display purposes. To open the top, turn the engines – very cool.

The addition of a landing gear adds to the authenticity, even if it is not as usable as I would have liked.

Two minifigures with unique printing on their arms. The new helmet for Zev is very nice. Although it is debatable if it is actually blackish or just a very dirty white, it's a nice shout out with a unique helmet.

Cons:

I found the chairs a little on the flimsy side when I was installing them. It's too bad there isn't more room to reinforce their backing. Installation took a couple of tries to get it right without them coming apart. Although, this might have been just me forcing them in place. They do have a tight fit, which is nice.

I'm not sure if the landing gear is really a con or not. It's not as usable as I hoped, but it looks very realistic.

In conclusion:

If you've been debating about investing or holding onto 10129 UCS Rebel Snowspeeder or buying this new one, 75144 UCS Snowspeeder, here are a couple of thoughts about this new UCS Snowspeeder #75144:

- Movable (position-able) air brakes – top and

bottom (not found on 10129).

- New unique windshield with a smooth transition

to the side windows making for a great looking

cockpit (not found on 10129).

- Plate nose, wings, and sides providing a much less

blocky look than 10129.

- Intake fins “inside” the wings (definitely not found

on 10129).

- The rear cooling fins are more accurate to the

movie using plate build vs the blocky build of

10129.

- Two unique minifigures with printing on their arms

and a new unique helmet for the pilot, Zev

Senesca. (10129 does not have minifigures).

- Yes, people might complain about the 30+

stickers, but the stickers add a level of detail not

otherwise attainable or seen on 10129. AND

placement of the stickers adds a level of difficulty

to this set.

Overall I am very pleased with this set and the build. Now if I can just keep my son from playing with it.

Nice job LEGO, definitely worthy of the UCS badge!

A must have for any UCS collection!

This certainly is a must have for any Lego Star Wars collector! It looks absolutely fantastic as a display piece and the level of detail is stunning. It took the best part of a day (on and off) to build, with some tricky pieces to clip together. I think this was because half way through after the base of the snowspeeder is built, you made the display stand and place it on there. Problem is without it, it won't sit exactly flat on the table even with the landing pad, and on the stand it's extended in the air so naturally is harder to put pressure on the bricks. Still an awesome set with great minifigures too! Well worth the price tag!

Fantastic model

Brill ucs set of the starwars snow speeder really enjoyed making only thing I don't really like is the stickers all printed bricks wud of been better but still an awesome display piece and thank you for sending it to me so fast

T-47 Airspeeder

Cool set, more structural, weighs less than first release, nice spoiler action, and flaps. Thought the canopy looked large, modified a bit to Star Wars movie version, added trim around windows with the sticker sheet borders and crated additional window, moved the orange tiles around on the nose to the spoilers.

Challenging build

I have recently found my affinity for building Legos and have built other UCS sets

-Slave I

-Tie Fighter

-Sandcrawler

Overall, the Snowspeeder is a good build and the finished product looks exceptional, but I do have a few complaints:

1. The front end is EXTREMELY fragile...I had to rebuild it twice when I was working on the back end and it fell apart bc there are very few places to hold it firmly once the wings are on. It def needs to be beefed up.

2. The little silver "grill" pieces on the underside would not stay on bc the ship really can only be held by the back end and the slightest rub would pop them of, it's hard to get them back on once the wings are attached w/out the risk of damaging something else.

3. The stand is a bit suspect bc of the weight of the ship, it tends to lean a bit perilously so I had to add some support.

4. Speaking of the stand, with the ship mounted sideways as pictured and slanted forward, it is very difficult to see the minifigs and info placard. That is a big draw of the UCS builds...almosr like the stand was an afterthought.

Overall, the build was enjoyable, but it was also VERY frustrating at times. The "playability" factor is virtually nil as this is truly a display piece.

Relaxing and nostalgic

After getting the lego building bug back from helping the kids of a friend build some star wars sets. I bought myself a couple of sets: kylo rens ship, ucs tie fighter and the shield helicarrier.

Now lego returns with this fabulous snowspeeder, excellent for winding down after a days work. Cooking, eating and then a couple of bags building pleasure. As the subject said: relaxing and getting nostalgic! Seeing the model evolve to the finished model is very satisfying!

Snowspeeder 75144 UCS

After reading some reviews I would like to say that I do not have any problems with the build quality or the stand for the set to display.

The stickers can be bit tricky to apply, BUT my main problem is with the Booklet Build Instructions....The Colour of the pieces on the booklet are very different to the actual pieces. When I dissemble to rebuild I know that this is going to be a real problem when I don't have the pieces in the numbered bags!!!!!!!

LEGO - surely you can do much better with this...see photo i have attached to see why I have mentioned this

Gorgeous on display

This set looks absolutely amazing on the shelf. The stand that comes with it allows for an angled display that really shows off some of the details on the top. I have built a good deal of UCS models and I must say this was surprisingly challenging due to the fact that it is VERY fragile in some spots. I would not recommend this item for “play” as you will be picking up the little skis all day. However, this is a must have for any OT fan.

Stunning but stunned

I consider myself an expert lego builder. I bought this set with my hard earned lawn mowing money that I was saving. I saved this set to build for 4 weeks so I could build it the first day of summer vacation. I built this set realitivly easy, and most could build this set because it's not hard to build, but rather time consuming. I built this in a whopping 9 hours. As soon as I finished building it I put the gunner is his seat and when I close the cockpit the ENTIRE thing fell apart. I thought it was a awesome ship but was extremely crushed that it broke so easily and felt that my time was wasted. While this is a cool set you put it in a safe so it doesn't crumble.

While some of our UCS models are meant more for display rather than play, it should not be falling apart in the manner that you are describing. You may want to try re-building certain sections to make sure that the bricks are getting enough clutch power to keep them together. If you find that any particular pieces are lacking clutch power, feel free to request those parts on our Service.LEGO.com site or give us a call at 1-800-835-4386.
