Awesome paint for plastics!!!

I used this paint to bring back some life to my fender flares, mud guards, and other bits of plastic on my F450 truck. As with anything prep is very important. Even though it states "no prep" just to be safe I prepped everything anyways and the results were great. I removed all the parts from the vehicle and cleaned them with an ammonia based cleaner (windex) I then took a fine grit sanding sponge and quickly sanded all the parts. I then tack ragged the parts off to remove any fine dust. If you have an air compressor you can use that as well to blow the dust off first and then tag rag off any remaining dust. Finally I sprayed the parts with 3-4 thin coats of the krylon fusion paint. I used satin black. I did this about 2 years ago and the color today looks exactly the same as it did 2 years ago. This was through 2 hot summers and 2 freezing cold winters. If you want more protection I guess you could add a clear coat over top but I chose not to.

Prep plastics correctly and it works awesome

Painting plastics is all in the prep work. If you prep your plastics right this paint is very durable. If you don;t prep right then it's not nearly as durable. A light sanding, and by light I mean just roughing the surface MINORLY with an extremely fine sandpaper light 2500 and then a quick 3500 grit is all you need. The sanding scuffs the painting surface just enough to allow the paint to have grooves, valleys, and pits, to lock on to. THAT'S THE KEY. Wash surfaces with soap and water. Dry thoroughly. Paint! DONE. Do that, use this paint and you'll love it. Look at the pics of the GI-JOE toy style Transformers Jets I made using Krylon Fusion Paints. Speaks for itself.

Could not be more pleased

Used Krylon Fusion to recolour the plastic interior of my 2008 Chrysler Sebring from grey to almond. Fantastic! Painted outside from grey to red professionally. To do this best use 5-7 light coats with 15-20 minutes in between each coat. Prep is most important, clean throughly with TSP then rinse well with water only and dry. It works great, bonds well, does not fade and is very durable. Even my mechanic thinks it was new parts, not painted. Thanks.

Works very well...always had great results!

I've been using Krylon Fusion now for a couple of years now and I mostly use it to paint automotive engine covers and smaller plastic underhood plastic pieces. Part prep is very simple, just wash with soap and water to remove most of the dirt, then spray with a static repellant like Static Guard, then a good wipe down with paint thinner. As soon as the paint thinner dries, I paint the parts. If the parts are small enough, I throw them in my dedicated paint drying oven at 175F for 4 hours (when the 4 hours is up, I turn the oven off and let the parts and the oven cool off). This greatly accelerates the full cure time and the parts can go right into service! Sticks extremely well to difficult to work with plastics like polypropylene and polycarbonate, particularly after using the heat cure. Larger pieces that can't be baked are left in the sun for a few hours but are left to sit for 7 days before going into service. Another current project I am using them on is the restoration of some fibreglass Herman Miller Eames chairs. After sitting outside 20 years, a new finish is going to breath new life into these classic works of art! I've had some of the typical "issues" that people report like the "dusting", which for any paint that isn't applied in a spray booth, to be a normal occurrence. Also, I occasionally have issues with the rough finishes but I attribute that to poor paint environment, like the temperature/humidity being too high, or painting in direct sunlight. For the Herman Miller chairs, I fully expected to do a final wet sanding after I was done especially after painting the insides of the chairs which proved to be more difficult than I thought. Also, the coverage may not be exactly what the can says, coverage amount on the can is like a speed limit, it's a suggestion under ideal conditions! I'd suggest using a clip on spray handle and if possible always keep the can and the piece you are working with vertical. You can paint items horizontally (flat) but this is more difficult and your results may vary...and you will use way more paint spraying horizontally.

I've been using this product for at least 13 years.

It's great, but you must follow the instructions on the can for prep and curing or the product may not be as durable as you would expect. I use it on off road applications and it performs great! The attached image was my vehicle that I painted with black Fusion paint that was previously blue plastic.

Yellowed GE frig handles/dispenser plastic

Used this satin white on very yellowed GE side by side frig handles and water dispenser plastic. No one would ever suspect it is painted as it looks perfect. Did an awesome job and drys very quickly. Went with 3 light coats. No runs, drips or errors. Highly recommend

Very bad fading after one year

I painted my shutters and front door last year (2016) with dark brown Fusion spray paint, I followed the instructions to the "T" and even more by thoroughly cleaning them. Now it's March 2017 and all the painted surfaces are faded and chalky. I contacted customer service to see if I could use something to rejuvenate them but I was told there was nothing that could be done that it's the fault of the shutter company that they do not recommend using this paint on shutters. I then questioned them why it faded on my metal door which is a completely different substrate (metal witch they do claim it will cover) and they blamed that on weather and sun conditions and the only solution wood be to sand the door and repaint. The bottom line is the fusion paint does cover all types of surfaces and looks great but the longevity of the finish is very minimal, I did not intend to by a product that needed done yearly! I believe that the advertising of the paint should not make us believe it's a magic all surface paint that will provide the same quality as their regular paint which is an excellent product.

A modelers need

This is perfect for plastic models it adheres to the plastic better then other spray paint

Worst Spray Paint we have used

We made the mistake of using this paint to refinish a small piece of furniture. We followed all directions meticulously. The spray nozzle on multiple cans sprayed erratically leaving an eggshell finish. Still, we were committed to the project and bought several more cans and thankfully a few of the spray tips worked normally. However, when we applied the second coat of paint, it wrinkled horribly. We were conscious of the cure times on the can and waited over a week before applying the second coat to make sure that the first coat was fully cured per the instructions. At this point we have spent several days trying to salvage our project, and we have spent more than $50 on several cans of paint and we are considering sanding everything and starting over with a different brand. We could not be more disappointed.

agree with cory

cleaned plastic motorcycle panels brand new like manufactor said followed directions on can waited a day to install paint just peels off by hand
