This mattress came with the crib I purchased for the same price, so I figured it was worth a shot. When it was delivered my husband pushed on it and it was really floppy. We just returned it, and bought a more firm mattress. It would probobly be fine for a toddler, but I didn't think it would work so well for an infant.

When I received this mattress it was really flimsy and soft not something I really want my newborn sleeping on. I was hoping for a firmer mattress I guess I can't complain too much since it came free with the crib but I'd rather pay for a better mattress.

This mattress is firm and supportive with a bit of spring to it. I think it may be more comfortable than my queen-sized mattress! My 7 month old daughter sleeps well on it. It's also lightweight and easy to move around, so changing the bed sheet isn't a difficult task. Highly recommended!

I don't know how firm should a baby sleep in, but to me, this mattress is a little too soft. I think I will switch to the Sally mattress instead of keeping this one. But we'll see.

    • A. My suggestions is get a convertiable bed. One that either turns from a toddler to a twin or a twin with a trundle that way if the bed is too high you can let him/her sleep in trundle. Also with the convertiable you can use a bunkie board instead of a box spring till ready for the high bed. That is what I did with my older 2 kids they were in twin beds by age 2 since there was always another baby to kick them out of cribs early. good luck

    • A. Honestly, I started out co-sleeping, then moved my daughter to a bassinet, then to her crib. The best part about the crib is it converts from crib to toddler to daybed. I honestly think you should get a low-to-the floor regular twin bed. And attach half rails, the kind that come up to about halfway down the bed. That way you can remove the rails when the toddler is old enough to be without them, and they can still take it to college when they leave.

    • A. There really is no age, a 3 1/2 year old should probably get more use out of a twin bed then a toddler bed though. I moved my son into a toddler bed when he was 9 months because he kept trying to climb out of his crib. So, really it is when your child is ready.

    • A. Just like with any other "stage" I child will go through, there is no "proper age" to complete this. There is no need to move a child from a crib, unless you know the child is nearing ability to climb out making it unsafe. And there is absolutely no good reason to waste money on a "toddler" bed - put the money into a bed that will last the child from this point on. I moved my daughter from her crib at 2 1/2 when she attempted to climb out, and moved her directly into a full size bed with great quality mattresses that she will probably be able to take with her when she leaves the nest. Toddler beds are kind of like Pull-Ups; there is simply no need for them. Crib to real bed: diapers to underwear. Neither need an inbetween.

    • A. We moved both of our kids into a regular bed by 18 months. We never bothered with toddler beds since we figured they'd need a regular bed soon anyways. I would not put a 3 year old in a toddler bed.

    • A. I moved both of my children into a full size bed at 1 year of age. A toddler bed is probably not going to last long for a 3 1/2 year old. Unless there is a medical condition preventing the child fromsleeping in one. They make guard rails that go under the edge of the mattress. Congrats!

    • A. we moved our son into a toddler twin bed when he was 15 month. to get him used to it cuz we were expecting our daughter. and he loves it. i say how the child sleeps is how u should decide if the child crawls out of his bed then stick with the toddler bed that way u can use a bed side sleeper. if dont than ur good.

    • A. I'd definitely go with a twin bed at that age. Some people are saying a toddler bed would be fine, but I disagree completely. Unless the child is very small for his/her age, a toddler bed will be small and he/she will outgrow it very quickly. Plus, children are prone to moving around quite a bit when they are sleeping (even at 8 I find my son sleeping upside down - head at the bottom of the bed where his feet should be and feet up where his head should be). Better to err on the side of caution and go with the twin bed.

    • A. We put our daughter straight into a twin bed at 18 months because she was a climber and we were afraid she would fall from the crib. We went straight to a twin bed because like someone else stated, they grow so fast. Plus we didn't want to buy a toddler bed then turn around and buy a twin bed a year later. The bed rails they sell work great. We have two, one for each side of the bed and we have never had a problem.

    • A. We have a two and a half yr old who loves her big sister's twin bed and seems to be a lot more comfortable in a twin bed than her toddler, even though her toddler bed still has plenty of room left for her to sleep in it. We are just going to get her a twin bed of her own and I'd recommend this to anyone with a growing, active, toddler. Twin beds will last a lot longer too as she grows and will be worth the money in the end.

    • A. Yes, you'll still need to use a mattress pad. The mattress has a vinyl feel to it and seems like it will wipe off easily, but a pad will be necessary to absorb any wetness.
