Works great and looks awesome !

What really drew me to this toaster initially was that it matched my matte black stand mixer , where very few of the toasters do! Our toaster was pretty old and was a cheap buy years prior so it was time for an upgrade. I read a ton of reviews to make sure I wasn't getting too many features I wouldn't need and I didn't want it to take up too much counter space since our kitchen is on the smaller side in our rental. This toaster is great bc it is pretty thin ,since the slots aren't side by side like a traditional toaster , but rather it has one long slot for both pieces of bread or longer breads ! I can have it against the wall when not in use and lose very little workable counter space , then just pull it out when I need it .. I will say, t...

Be Ready to Tend Your Toast

I toast long slices of sour dough bread for breakfast. I have to set the toasting level all the way up to high. The ends of the bread get lightly browned and the middle has no color at all at the end of the cycle. If I toast it again to get the middle browned -- the ends get burned. So I break the bread in half removing an end that is "done" and put the balance of the piece back in for a second toasting making sure to place the undone middle section towards an end of the toaster slot. My son told me he never knows what to expect when the toast is done. I may as well be toasting my bread over an open fire -- about as reliable a result. do not give up it gets better
at first the toast was uneven and I was not happy. as time and use has occurred the toast comes out more even. on long one piece toast the ends were almost burned.

Best toaster ever
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The adage, you get what you pay for, applies to this toaster. It is the best toaster I've ever used. Even toasting while not drying out the bread. Only complaint is the small size of the available settings listings. I have poor eyesight. Wish this was larger.

Excellent toaster

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the KitchenAid 2 Slice Long Slot Toaster when my old 4-Slot toaster died. I rarely used all 4 slots, so I opted for the 2-slice KitchenAid, and its working out well. The light to dark slider offers enough options. It toasts evenly. The slot is large enough to accommodate long slices from rustic loaves. And the toaster looks great. The only caveat is for the first 4 cycles, there was a chemical/plastic smell, but that has vanished.

I have high hopes for this replacement.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The last KitchenAid Long Slot Toaster I had was over 20 years old and the only reason I had to replace it was because the lift lever broke. With some finagling I kept on toasting with it and I am praying that this new model lasts as long. The new toaster is rounded and very ungainly looking so takes up more counter space. The controls are a bit on the small side and harder to read. The controls on the old one were on the long side which worked better for me. I'm baffled as to why the crumb tray is on the back end where I have to unplug then pull the toaster away from the wall. Love the red. I will keep you posted as the years go by.
