1. Yes you can. I just bought an Ematic MP3/Video player and it states you can expand the players capacity buy adding MicroSD.
It seems to work just fine.

2. Yes, it should work. But, you should check your Sylvania Touch MP3 player because some products just support a certain amount of gigabytes. For example my phone just supports up to 4gb more than that and it won't work.
