Great product, good price and so easy to use!
This dehumidifier works great for me. I just moved to a basement apartment in the spring. My daughter suggested a dehumidifier when it started getting humid to save on A.C. bill. This product is perfect for this. It took the humidity out quickly, was easy to dump into my tub, and is much quieter than my central air. The good reviews and low price sold me on this product.

confusing user interface
I returned the humidifier after using it for a couple of days. I chose to run it with the draining hose (bypassing the bucket). The user's manual does not really explain how to use the control panel. It only provides the names of the buttons. For example, what does the continuous button do? Does it have to do with the draining hose? Does it override the auto shutoff? how does the timer buttons work? Do they override the auto shutoff? I set the humidity level to 50 only to see it running non-stop even after the reading shows 44. I played with the timer. How to enable the Auto-defrost function? under what conditions? At one time both the on & off timer buttons were on simultaneously. What could it possibly mean? I do like the quietness of the machine though.

Works well for my basement

I noticed a lot of people have problems hooking up the drain hose. If you take out the water tub and look inside you will see a L shaped plastic drain coming from the upper unit. When you slide the Plastic Drain hose<included with unit thru the back> you must take your fingers and SLIDE the plastic hosing onto the L Shaped drain fixture....then a common garden hose can be connected to the end of the plastic tubing in the back and placed into a drain in the basement floor. The first time i just slide the plastic tubing thru the back and it didnt drain but went into the tub..BECAUSE I didnt slide the tubing onto the L Shaped plastic drain fixture inside the unit. You have to LOOK in there and you will see the L Shaped drain where the plastic tubing slides on! The directions and picture in the Owners manual are not very explicit. The wording just tells you to push the tubing thru the back which i did..and its a done deal...well its NOT till YOU slide the tubing onto the L Shaped Drain with your fingers then it works perfectly!

Drying it out!!!

I've been using it for 2 weeks straight and it is doing nothing but DRYING IT OUT!!! What a great buy so far! Very quiet and is taking moisture out of the air continuously..........would definitely buy another one. Like I've said, only been using it two weeks, but not a single complaint!

So far, so good.

Ordered online, it was dropped off at my door the next day, even tho the free delivery option was selected- wow! The box bottom was already cut off; don't know why; maybe part of the service, or not; didn't have a chance to talk to the deliverer. But, the item did not look repackaged and it looked new. Had it for nearly a month now and it works well. No complaints thus far. Not too noisy; far less noisy than the one loaned to me. It's in our 19'x16' carpeted basement family room. Has dropped the humidity from 82 to 42 and the musty odor has gone. Color and style fits in. Simple to set up and maintain. So far i am impressed. After reviewing the many complaints about dehumidifiers in general, i bought this on Walmart for $10 more than on Amazon because i want to be able to return it quickly and easily, ie to the nearby store, if the dehumidifier were to fail. Bought it online because this item's not in stock in the store. I wonder if a 40-pint would have done the job? But, i chose Keystone mainly because the price was right, same as a 40-pinter, and found no bad reviews at the time. My first dehumidifier. Lucky? Time will tell.

Does its job well

This had a good price, yet I haven't had any problems with it. I was very quickly able to set it up and it works like a charm and does what it is supposed to do. The only cons are ones I was warned about by reading reviews. The reservoir doesn't look as big as you might intuitively expect (I change it at least twice a day) - that's fine with me, keeps the weight manageable when I'm carrying it to the sink. And since I was forewarned that water might pour from more than one place when you dump it out, I've been mindful and haven't had a problem.

Great Value for the Price

I was a little hesitant to purchase this dehumidifier since I was not familiar with this brand. It was on sale so the price was excellent. It does what it's supposed to and dropped the humidity in my basement within a couple of hours. It runs fairly quiet, has a defrost feature in case the coils get frozen (haven't been able to verify how good this works yet), two speed fan and option for continuous draining through a hose. I have an external temperature/humidity sensor on the wall and this keeps the room at around the same humidity so its internal sensor is accurate. The only flaw is the way the bucket is designed. Since this is fairly compact the bucket flares out near the sides. While this helps you grip the sides of the bucket to pull out to empty, it also makes pouring the water out difficult without spilling since the extra area channels water while draining. The bucket also does not push back in easily but I have used others that are about the same so if you are careful it's not a huge problem. Overall I would recommend it to someone looking for a dehumidifier that does what more expensive models do but for a better price with similar features.

Wish I bought the bigger model

The dehumidifier seems to work well so far. I like to recycle the water for watering plants. I really liked the bucket on my old dehumidifier because it had somewhat of a pour spout. I don't think any new models, including this one, have a bucket designed to pour out of. I bought the 50 pint thinking the bucket on the 70 pint would be harder to handle. However the bucket on the 50 pint seems about half the size of the bucket on my old 50 pint model. It fills fast and has to be emptied often. My only other complaint is that apparently you can't turn the power off when the bucket is full. If I don't have time to empty the bucket for a while, I either have to unplug it or let it sit with the power on and a bucket full of water. I may call the manufacturer to see if this is normal functioning. Given all the recent recalls of dehumidifiers as a fire hazard and an acquaintance whose house burnt due to a faulty dehumidifier, I prefer not to leave the power on. If the performance of the unit continues to operate consistent with the other good reviews, I will probably be glad I bought the Keystone for the price. However, if I had it to do again, I would probably buy the 70 pint assuming it would have a bigger bucket.

It Does The Job...

So far (two weeks of use) the dehumidifier is performing well. I need to empty it out twice a day, morning and evening, since the basement humidity is so bad. This unit is keeping my basement at 55% relativity humidity which is great for being in the northeast. My only complaint is that replacing/sliding the bucket back in is not smooth. I need to jiggle it a bit to close it completely. It is a little nuisance ... My biggest worry is that my sons won't be so gentle and could crack this plastic bucket which seems fragile. Hopefully replacements are available if this does crack.

Keystone 50 pint dehumidifier

I bought this to replace a 20 year old dehumidifier that wasn't defrosting anymore. I am please with how quiet this unit is and it seems to be almost twice as efficient as my old one. (both use about the same watts, but this one will remove twice as much water) The one thing i noticed that i don't like is the constant cycles. Once you set your humidity level, it will run for a while and then shut off for about 3 minutes then start up again. It seems to try and hold a very narrow range of humidity and i think the constant on-off cycles may give the unit a shorter lifespan than my old unit

Piece of junk !

This is my second dehumidifier. The first was a Frigidare 70 pint. It didn't work that well and the fan NEVER shut off. It was designed to always stay on. It killed my electric bill. After 3 months it never reached the 55% humidity setting. Yes, it ran all this time. I replaced it with the Keystone 50 pint. It isn't any better. It has been running 10 days straight with bad results. It brought humidity down from 68% to 63%, NEVER shutting off. I have it set at 55%. This will be going back also.....SOON ! My old, @ 9 yrs, Maytag 50, works as well or better than either of these units and it has a coolant leak. Trying to find someone to fix it has been a long process. (N00NE yet!).

1. This humidifier outputs slightly warm air.
by CommunityAnswer
2. warm
by LP63
3. The laws of physics state that ALL dehumidifiers will be net heat generators. The water will be cold and the air warm. An air conditioner is just a dehumidifier with the cold side where the water collects on the inside of the house and the hot side where the air is warmed on the outside. A dehumidifier has both sides in the same package. The amount of heat released into the room by any dehumidifier will be about the same as what an incandescent light bulb of the same wattage would be. With a continuous drain sending the cold water down a drain it would be a little higher.

2. the plastic hosing slides thru the back of the machine where that GREY rubber disc is..take the disc off..slide the plastic hosing thru and look inside the housing where the water tub goes..and slip the end of the hosing onto the L Shaped drain which goes up into the top of the unit..then you put that threaded white plastic end on the end of the clear hose and connect a common garden hose to lead to your drain..Wal Mart sells a 15 foot hose for $8 which works perfect for me.
by RustyPA
3. The coupling for the drain hose is on the backside of this machine.
