for my 5 year old...
great bike for my hyper 5 year old.... had a problem with the front breakline not being crimped at the end and the brake line came apart... contacted Kent and after several emails it to them a while to replace it... however my son loves the bike!

And it still looks nice. People shouldn't do a review the minute their kid gets on the bike. Give it some time and you'll see these are garbage. The rear hub, also known as free wheel hub, on the Kent brand of bicycle only has two pawls (spring loaded pieces of metal which catch the teeth on the insider the hub that propel the when the pedals are turning, and click when the pedals aren't turning aka freewheeling) whereas other bikes have three or many more. One of the metal pawls on this bike shattered. No rear hub should have less than three pawls. This may have led to the bearing in the hub to disintegrate. I had to order a new rear free wheel hub. And trust me this is not an easy task. On each side of the wheel is a set of 9 small steel balls that sit loose. Instead of a quality sealed bearing on each side you have to deal with these. And you need to buy a special 9/16 wrench or grind one down quite narrow to remove the special nut, which also acts as a seal for the 9 steel balls on one side of the wheel. Be sure to have some fresh grease handy because those 18 balls will probably end up on the floor and need cleaned. Be sure not to get that inner nut too tight or your child will be asking you why it's tough to pedal and the bike will end up on the workbench again. Another issue is the cheaply-made kickstand and spring loaded bracket. It gets in the way of the pedals. I've attempted to get the kickstand to work properly 8 times already. We get snow in the winter so it hasn't seen excessive use. It's falling apart because it isn't made to last.

Great bike!!

GREAT BIKE!! I BOUGHT IT FOR MY SEVEN Y/O AND WAS ABLE TO PUT IT TOGETHER ALL BY MYSELF!! (I'M A 27 Y/O GIRLY-GIRL :) HE'S RIDDEN IT FOR A ABOUT A WEEK WITHOUT ISSUE AND GETS LOTS OF COMPLIMENTS FROM HIS FRIENDS ABOUT HOW COOL IT LOOKS. LOVE THIS BIKE!

Great if you know what you are doing.

The instructions were easy to follow, however there were a few moments when we were puzzled over how to get the brakes to work correctly. Once we figured it out it was super easy and our son totally loves his new bike!

Great value online but not if you get it in store

Online price $49, instore price $69. Bought one for a friends son's birthday (in store), he loves it but I noticed the orange paint starting to fade to white (he leaves it outside in the sun a lot). The one I got online was a donation to a non-profit for a give away (Garden City Police, Volunteers In Police Services) for their Fall Festival. Some youngster is going to love this!

Please review your features advertised for this bike. There were two important features that my son wanted on his next bike. Front and rear hand brakes and front and rear pegs. The bike is advertised with front and rear pegs, but only has front pegs. (see below). It is almost impossible to return a gift after your childs eyes light up with joy after taking it out of the box. It is disappointing to me as the purchaser to fall short of his requests by way of a wrong description. Good looking bike and would reccomend with proper desciption. 7. This bike is BLAZE ORANGE with black accents, you can spot this a mile away which helps keep kids safe. Just don't store it all summer long outside in direct sunlight as the orange will fade to white, but not for normal everyday use. I have bought two of them for two different kids...would buy another one too, excellent value and looks great! (Easy to assemble, really...super easy the kids can do it).

Insert the handle bars (already assembled w/ grips, gooseneck and brake handles. Add the seat (already assembles w/ post and reflector) and last the two pedals which are marked L & R. Super Simple!
