    Got the job done

My 96 Silverado had some pretty badly stripped and corroded exhaust head pipe flange bolts (See pic). The previous owner tired to fix the exhaust leak and stripped the bolts. I gave one of these sockets a try and it worked! This is something every mechanic must have.

    Best tool in the box

After fighting a rounded off bolt for two days and trying every trick in the book without any success I found this item online. It worked exactly the way it was described. Took less than 15 seconds to take off a completely rounded bolt that had been over torqued with that red lock-tite stuff on it. It' has become my best tool in the box.

    outstanding tool

I bought a set of these on 6 Aug 16 to remove an M12 bolt that had rounded off in the hub of my Jeep. Using an ordinary ratchet, it worked perfectly that day. There was another M12 bolt it wouldn't remove, but I think it might have worked if I had used an impact wrench or if I had been able to seat the socket firmly on the bolt. When an M12 bolt snapped off inside the hub the next week, I used the bolt grip socket on the bare threads of the broken bolt. It worked flawlessly even though some of the threads inside the hub were damaged. The bolt grip isn't perfect, but it's awfully close. I've used easyouts before, and besides the difficulty of drilling holes in damaged bolts, you run a significant risk of breaking an easyout inside a bolt. Good luck removing that. Moreover, an easyout won't help you with a nut that is rounded off. Before making your life a lot harder, why not give the Irwin bolt grip a try?

    Great necessary tool

I use this toll all the time, it is the greatest.

    Great tools

This set is the right size for the average bolts you would be working with at home. They fit metric and sae

    What happened to 15mm

They work pretty good; although, I needed a 15mm, and of course the set had a 14mm and 16mm!!! So, I stripped out the 16mm because it wasn't snug! I think the majority of caliper bracket bolts are 15mm, which is probably the most likely bolt on the car to be over torqued and difficult to remove!!! Just my luck!!!

    Fantastic item

I'd destroyed a suspension mount nut by rounding it off, and attempting to move it with an air chisel. I couldn't fit an axle grinder into the space, so thought I'd run out of options. Fortunately I came across these extractors. The 16mm extractor worked fine on the 15mm nut. I was using an extension bar on my ratchet, which was bending due to the force required. But the nut did eventually turn. Amazing, there wasn't even a scratch on the inside of the extractor - it sure is made of very tough metal !

    Just Tried!

Just received set, I'm trying to remove alternator bolt off a 2000 GMC Safari. All it wants to do slips off. I don't know it the angle of the bolt or what. I tried to hammer it on and it just slips off. I wish it was 1/2" drive instead of 3/8" drive, probably have more leverage. Otherwise its quality of set is great. I tried it on another project of mine it does work great, so I'll give it four stars. Just wish I could get the alternator bolt. I greatly appreciate if Irwin could give me ideas! somes

    Usage

It doesn't work well in tight places it has to be taped first with a hammer then it works well. Other than that it's a good set to have around.

    Worked as advertised

I bought extractors to remove a rounded off oil pan nut. Installed extractor with a couple of hammer taps. One pull with my wrench and the old bolt was removed.
