    I have had my Hoover for over a year and regret getting it within minutes every time I use it. My hoover has a accordion hose which always gets jammed if I don't empty the dust collector every two or three minutes. I do have a short haired dog but with the vacuum cleaner I had before the hoover this was never a issue. I don't have any experience with any other Hoover products but with this product I believe the Accordion hose is a MAJOR design flaw. I regularly have to disassemble the vacuum to clean it and i would say that it is accurate to say that for 5 minutes of vacuuming I spend 20 dusty minutes taking it apart, getting accordion hose jams unclogged and putting it back together. I actually have made tools to get obstruction out of the the accordion hose. If you have a house that never needs to be vacuumed then this is the vacuum for you. If you have a home that needs to be vacuumed from time to time I would suggest you avoid any Hoover vacuum with a accordion hose like I would the Black Plague.

    Hi West Coast Man! Your WindTunnel 2 Rewind shouldn’t clog this often. We want to help. Oftentimes when the filters are needing to be cleaned or replaced they can cause a blockage in the hose. Please give the following steps a try: 1. Rinse the filter from under the dirt cup and allow it to completely air dry for 24 hours. 2.) Tap off the HEPA filter over the trashcan to remove excess debris. 3.) Disconnect the hose from both ends of the unit to check for any blockages and remove. Completely removing the hose from both ends of the unit will ensure all debris is cleared out. 4.) Check inlets behind the dirt cup and bottom nozzle for any obstructions and remove. We recommend replacing the filters every 6-12 months for optimum performance. Emptying the dirt cup and cleaning the filter after each use will also help to prevent clogs from forming in the hoses as well.     Only had the vacuum a couple of months and can count the number of times I've used it. Nearly every time it gets clogged and you have to constantly clean out the hose from the bottom. When you empty the canister it's a pain to line it up right to put it back into place, and now to top it all off it just stopped working in the middle of vacuuming. I'm taking it back to Walmart and hope they give me a refund or store credit since I can't find my receipt. The irony about this is I got this because I thought my Shark had stopped picking up, turned out the brush was just turned off, and is working fine. I really didn't need a new one after all. I only wish I had seen these reviews before buying this so buyers beware don't stop here keep looking!! The next one it stops on could be you!

    Hi CherJ! Oh no, that doesn't sound too good. We want to help. With the unit stopping mid-use, it is usually the thermal protector, which is caused by the unit heating up. The unit will heat up if there is a air flow issue, caused by clogs. Please try this: The hose is designed to be removed from both ends. Run a broomstick through the hose to remove obstructions. Use a grabber tool or something similar to remove clogs from the lower hose. The filter in the dirt cup should be washed with water only after 4-6 uses. After doing this, your unit should run at optimum levels and reduce clogging. If further assistance is needed, please call us at 1-800-944-9200 between 8am-6pm EST M-F.     Day three of owning this vacuum. Day three of emptying loads of dirt and pet hair. I am so happy I purchased this vacuum. My carpet already looks better and feels softer. Interested to see how long it takes until the dirt and pet hair, that my old vacuum obviously was not picking up, stops being pulled from the carpet. I was not compensated in any way for this endorsement.

    My first choice to purchase a new vacuum was Hoover. I am very pleased with how it cleans carpets, feels, sounds-not noisy, easy to assemble, love the re-wind cord and not heavy. I am very pleased with my purchase.

    purchased this vacuum yesterday, been buying Hoover for years, I plugged this vacuum in today and the first thing was the headlight does not work??? Second issue is there is extremely hot air coming out where the cord is on the side of the vacuum, really heats up my house, the canister for the dirt has to be taken outside to empty from both ends and is so messy, AND the on/off switch is really a design nightmare. So disappointed will be returned ASAP

    Just purchased this vacuum yesterday, I have owned Hoover vacuums for years and always loved them, the one I currently have now is 25 years+. This new vacuum has several design issues, on/off button is in awkward place, I used this vacuum today I was anxious to see how well it worked. Turned it on and the headlight does not work??? There is really hot air coming off the side of the vacuum where the plug is really heats up the house, is that normal???? As with other reviews the cleaning and emptying of the dirt is really a messy OUT SIDE job. So disappointed will be taking back tomorrow.

    I bought this vacuum two months ago to help remove pet hair from several deep pile shag rugs in our home. (I used the vacuum on the highest carpet setting available.) After one month, the vacuum stopped working and I noticed the belt was completely worn and kept coming off. At first I reapplied it, but it was quite the hassle removing all the screws so I set out to find a replacement. I couldn't find a replacement belt anywhere, even in the big box stores that sold the unit. So here I am. If the original unit was going to have such a poor quality belt, it would've been nice to have a replacement belt included. Anyway now that I am here to buy another belt, I have noticed all the poor reviews many of which are having the same issues I am having. I will try another belt, but if this vacuum doesn't improve, I plan on returning it. This is my first experience with a Hoover and possibly my last.

    Hi CathyZ! The belt on your WindTunnel 2 should be holding up better than that. Under normal use a belt should last about 1-2 years. The belt can break/stretch prematurely if the brushes are unable to spin freely. This usually occurs if the belt is obstructed with hair/debris or if it gets caught in something such as the end of a throw rug.     I've waited a few months before writing this review. I know I am getting tired of this unit because I am starting to shop around for another vac to replace this. It's got some nice features, and really has lots of power and suction, but the filter housing is messy... dust, hair and debris get trapped in the housing and I have to pull out "stuff" manually to get a totally empty dirt reservoir. The washable filter is a challenge to remove... almost have to damage it in order to get it out. That's probably my biggest beef..not to mention the automatic cord rewind sticks more than half the time. I got a great price on this at The Home Depot, but... I guess the saying is true: you get what you pay for.

    Hi LakeGuy! We don’t want you to be disappointed with your WindTunnel 2. We have a few tips that we think might help. If you find yourself pulling out dirt trapped around the cyclonic filter this is an indication that the dirt cup is getting too full. The dirt cup has a fill line on it. Once the dirt reaches the fill line, empty the dirt cup. There’s a piece of material you can pull up on to easily remove the rinsable filter. To have access to this, the filter must be assembled with the mesh side facing down. The auto cord rewind can stick if it’s pulled out too far. Be sure the cord is being pulled put to the yellow sticker, but not past the red sticker. We hope this is helpful!

    I have had this vacuum for over a year! I loved it when I first got it b/c of the dog attachment but it has never worked properly since I had to clean it out! We have a lab so we are vacuuming a lot! I have to clean out the canister at least two times when I am vacuuming which is extremely messy. The hair never comes out the bottom so I am constantly twisting the top part off and getting dirt everywhere. It is an outside job! I hate the bagless b/c of this! The pet attachment doesn't work anymore b/c the suction doesn't seem to be strong enough. I have taken the whole vacuum apart to clean and check for clogs and that didn't help at all! Still doesn't work! When I use the vacuum on my hardwood floors the dog hair and dirt just shoots out the back. Today when I used the hose the dirt was flying out the hole where you keep the hose. I just cleaned it so it doesn't have a clog! I can't wait to get rid of this vacuum! My grandmother's vacuum from 20 years ago does a much better job than this one. I am so glad I didn't put it in a yard sale and still have it. :) I wouldn't recommend this vacuum to anyone!

    I wanted to move to a bag-less vacuum when I bought this machine. It was reasonably-priced and works well until it starts to get clogged and lose suction. I have found a good way to "clean" the unit is by taking the components outside and blowing them out with my gas-powered blower.
