Helps with my allergies. Works great!

I love breathing clean air. I bought two of these air purifiers. So glad I did. I have seasonal allergies and a small dog inside. Shipping was fast and free. I highly recommend Holmes Allergen Remover Air Purifier.

Allergic to my own cats and I'm a smoker

So I read the reviews before I bought this and was slightly concerned about all the people saying how loud this unit was.. So I should start with saying that we run small fans in the summer (like a box fan or one of the fans that turn back and forth that's a foot tall) this unit is not as loud as any of the fans.. Even on its highest setting it's still not as loud as a household box fan. If this unit is too loud for you then you must have super sensitive ears or live in absolute silences.. Seriously this unit is not loud!! Now I use this unit in my girl cave where I usually watch TV my two cats that's I'm allergic to lay with me on the couch. It did take about two days before I noticed a huge difference in the room but man it really cleans up the air. Now let's add in the smoking … for those of you that smoke you know when you have put the cigarette out and you still have smoke floating around the room 40 minutes later from that one cigarette well not anymore with this unit!! Even as your smoking you can see the smoke disappearing as you go and within one to two minutes after putting it out the smoke is completely gone from the room this unit rocks!! I never shut this unit off its runs day and night not sure if that makes a difference

Good air filter, similar to one recommended by CU

I purchased two of these air purifiers, they are good for small rooms, 9x9 feet. They seem to do a good job as we have a several cats and I am allergic to dust that collects on the cat hair and dander. I purchased this model as it has a true HEPA filter, an ionizer than has an on and off switch and a similar larger size Holmes purifier did very well in the Consumer Reports reviews. (CU did not review this specific model. Many other brands did very poorly on the CU tests.) I have had it for a month, it seems to work well. My allergy is better now. (Also have been vacuuming more often with definitely helps.) Overall, I am happy and ordered two more for my other rooms - I think it is better to have two small ones as opposed to one large one, the large ones are noisy and sound like a jet is taxing in your living room. The HEPA filters are $30 for two and they last for year or so. Definitely worth the extra cost to go with the true HEPA filters to get the deep micro cleaning they do - if you go with a cheap washable filter, you are not getting the same benefit. The purifier has three speed settings, I run them at high during the day and medium or low at night - I think the high speed does the deepest cleaning. Medium and low are not very noisy and can be used while sleeping, high seems a little loud for sleeping. It would be nice if they had timers, I may buy some wall socket timers - I think running them on high during the day would be fine. They are made to be ran continuously so you dont need to worry about them wearing out. It has a five year warranty too.

High quality allergen removal as promised.

Ever since I moved into my new apartment, I've been waking up wheezing and coughing from some kind of indoor allergen. After cleaning exhaustively to no benefit, I decided to purchase one of these Allergen Removers to see if it made a difference. In short - drastic change for the better! After running this in my room for less than 24 hours, I was already waking up far healthier and I have continued to breathe easy in my bedroom since, though I'm about to sue my landlord because he's unwilling to pay to remove the mold in our ventilation system. After a few weeks of solid use I would highly recommend this product to any allergy & asthma sufferer.

Allergy sufferer for years-extremely happy!!!

So I did a lot of reading up on air purifiers on Walmart.com before I bought this purifier, based on many of the good reviews vs the cost I decided to get it. With one dog and a cat in the house along with people running around daily the living room is pretty much very stuffy. I'm constantly sneezing and having issues with allergens in the air that I can't even see. Ten minutes after turning it on-with me standing in front of it and I noticed I could breathe without the normal itchy/tickling feeling in my nose. It's now been thirty minutes and the air feels so clean breathing it in. I usually suffer from sinus congestion and its already helping it. I will say there was a new plastic smell with the purifier. Heat and plastic along with a fresh new product straight from the box-it's understandable. I have chemical sensitivity issues as well and though it did give me a twinge of a migraine at first it has definitely improved over the past thirty minutes. I'm excited to unplug it and put it in my bedroom next so I can see how I do with it while sleeping. I am a light sleeper so I am glad to see if its a good enough white noise to help me sleep as well as fix my congestion/stuffy nose when I wake. My only known allergies is dust, but even other people in the house with no know allergies could tell the difference in the air quality. It's quieter than our ac unit (which kind of squeaks when it's on). I would say its about as loud as a desktop computer with its cooling fan blowing at full blast. All in all I'm very happy with this purchase so far. I will probably update the review later once I know how it works when I sleep. So far I would totally advise it if you have breathing issues and allergies.

filter

this Filter is a good value for what it does, and its size is a plus, you can put it on top of furniture or on the floor if needed, however, for me its too loud, so unless your place is large and you can put it further away from you...it would be perfect for you. I returned it and I a going to purchase something more expensive to avoid the noise
We greatly appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your feedback. This information has been forwarded to the appropriate department.

Air Filter

I bought 2 and they are a little small, but what I wanted. Ideal to sit on table where I smoke. I use a bigger one along with this one for entire room . Between the 2 no smoke leaves my room into other part of house. Would recommend to any one small but very good !!!

Much needed winter air filtration

The unit is tall and does not create much of a footprint. The three speed design permits turning the speed down to a quieter setting at night. The unit was purchased to help improve the air quality in an apartment that has been "sealed up" for cold weather. There are much more expensive units with electronic filters that only need cleaned. This unit does have a removable foam filter (much like that of an air conditioner -- only smaller) that can be occasionally rinsed. The main attraction for me was a separately switchable ultraviolet chamber to kill germs. The HEPA filter within the unit is easy to remove and relatively inexpensive to replace. The manufacturer suggests once per year. For those like me on a fixed income, this seems to be an excellent choice for smaller apartments.

good buy

I've had many allergies & sinus problems since moving into The Vintage apts SLVD. This device has helped me a great deal & I can breath better, don't sneeze 50 times a day & don't have to buy kleenx by the case. I wish I had bought two so I don't have to take it into the bedroom at night so I can breath in there, I rotate it between rooms & this seems to be working for now. I would recommend when you 1st get it run it on high in you main living area all day, if you can't afford 2 or more rotate it to the bedroom about an hr b4 you go to bed.

Just what I was looking for

Did quite a bit of comparing before I settled on this on this little unit and found it to be just what I was looking for. It is compact, portable, and easy to move from room to room. It is simple to operate, having only two controls. One is the ionizer, which can be operated independently from the fan control which has 3 speeds. It has a hepa filter and a foam pre-filter which can be cleaned and they are both easily accessed. All in all, a good air purifier which does just what I wanted it to do.
