Thank you to the Spark Reviewer Program letting me test out and give feedback for this LED Flame Bulb by EZ-Illuminations.
The bulb is a typical bulb that fits in the most common lamp fixtures. Technically for size E26 Socket. The bulb is 1.5W. The bulb also has a pulsing effect to it. So it turns orange, then dark orange, orange, dark orange. Something like that. I think this is a great idea for many seasons of the year and with a multiple pack could make a room quite cool looking.
In many respects I feel this bulb should be brighter. Also, this is an excellent idea for somebody who has a dimming switch and if these bulbs would have fit that style. Those are ideas that would make this a fabulous product. As it is the bulb is a bit on the dim side if you are looking for one that is a typical bulb.
I would like to use it for my front porch light for Halloween as that is just a 30w bulb and is plenty bright for the kids to see the steps. With this bulb I fear it won't be bright enough. As can be seen in the photo the brightness of the bulb isn't quite there. This bulb is more of an ambient feel and seems to work more in that type of situation. Although its very cloudy and rainy today I was able to see some brightness from the bulb in the afternoon downpour.
I should caution that this bulb is supposed to be for indoor use only. The bulb comes with an owners manual. I thought that was kind of funny. "How to install a lightbulb" what is that quote " one to put the bulb in and the other to watch. Well ha ha anyway. This manual is quite detailed.
Product instructions with everything from only use indoors to the lamps should be installed by a qualified electrician. Finally, install by screwing in the bulb. But seriously its nice to show they want you to use correctly and show a care for the customer. I think this is a better manual than my refrigerator manual.
As for the bulb, it is nice and a great idea. I love the pulsing look. Wish it was a touch brighter and with different types of bulbs and purchasing in many quantities this could make for some very interesting lighting situations. Have a happy Halloween.
