    For Gravy, Soup, Sauces, Etc.

I always use cornstarch for thickening liquids when I'm cooking. I think it imparts less taste to the gravy, white sauce, hollandaise, soup or whatever than making a roux with flour and then adding liquid. I simply whisk together 1 tbsp of cornstarch for every cup of liquid with cold water, then whisk that mixture into the hot liquid and return to a simmer for gravy and sauces. Using less cornstarch makes a thinner sauce, of course. Corn starch is also gluten free, if that's something that concerns you. This corn starch has a nice texture; the one thing I didn't like is that it comes in a box without an inner wrapper, and no way to reclose the box. I dumped the contents of the box into a clear container which originally held 32 ounces of cornstarch, purchased from a "big box" store some time back. With that solution, it worked well for me.

    Alternative to baby powders~Non-gmo&Organic!!

I have not tasted this but have found that this is not only certified non-gmo but is also certified organic! Kudos to Hodgson Mills and for Wal-mart for carrying this! I use this as a replacement powder to prevent skin chafing. I found baby powders even lightly scented bothered my allergies and asthma so I tried this. I put this in my powder puff container and use the poof and it works great. It is just a bit heavier than the baby powders but that's what makes it great. It doesn't make such a big mess, nor do I breathe the fine dust in and it has absolutely no fragrance added, plus saves me money. But now that I know from reading today on their site regarding their certified organic and non-gmo status, I will include this in my kitchen as well and I'm eager to do so! But also, knowing that I put this corn starch on my skin daily and knowing that it is possible for anything on your skin to be absorbed, this gives me peace of mind :) I love this and that it's in a 12 pack. I ordered this online, was so easy!
