Transport additional cargo on your next road trip with the Hitch Haul with 2" and 1.25" Receiver Bars. Made of durable steel, it supports up to 500 lbs and is suitable for carrying heavy loads of fishing gear, camping equipment and more. A mesh metal floor allows for airflow while the powder-coat finish protects against road conditions and the elements. This hitch mounted cargo carrier connects to the back of an SUV or other vehicle and includes two receiver bar sizes for added stability and compatibility. Holes around the sides allow for attachment of bungee cords or tie-towns to keep gear secure while you're on the move.

Best $60 I've Spent In A Long Time

I have a 2011 GMC Acadia. Needed room for 5 passengers, their stuff, and supplies for a week. Car top carriers are a pain to load/unload and not as aerodynamic as hitch haulers (my opinion). I've seen these hitch carriers before, so got one. Didn't even know it was there while driving (except it messed up my backup camera when loaded). I had two Sterlite 50 gallon containers (13+ cubic feet total) loaded with maybe 200+ pounds of stuff. I also put tail lights, a license plate light, and a 7 pin connector on it. Total investment - maybe $150, including containers, wiring, lights, and straps. I also bought the cross-rails for my roof rack from the dealer ($195 + tax, ouch!) and installed them, just in case I didn't have enough room, but I did. Only reason why I didn't give the Hitch Haul 5 stars - I'd be nervous putting 500 pounds on it (the advertised max). I'm no engineer, but it doesn't seem that sturdy to me. Two halves held by bolts. Other than that, awesome.

Great buy & with a little work a great product

I just finished putting this together and mounting it on my 2011 Suburban for a 4,000 mile trip. For $60, you can't go wrong, however, I am a bit dismayed at how loose the Hitch Haul fits in my 2 inch receiver. Very sloppy - the back of the Hitch Haul will sway side to side and up and down greater than an inch. I'm going to have to figure out a way to shim it before the trip. It may survive 4K miles fine, but why chance it? Also, the mesh flooring is only tack welded every 4.5 inches or so which causes it to rattle enough to wake the dead. Once loaded, it's not an issue. I, too, am skeptical of the 500 pounds max weight. Those are the reasons for 4 stars and not 5. I recommend the cargo net, a locking pin to be able to lock the hauler to your vehicle, some plastic shims to reduce sway and bouncing, as well as reflective safety tape to stick on the sides and back. Hope this review helps and safe travels.

    Good value

This Hitch Haul fits real well with the 1.25" bar on my rig with a 1.25" receiver. As others have indicated, it fits loose with the 2" bar in a 2" receiver. I used composite shims and that tightened it up. I like that is has the two different sized bars since I have one vehicle with a 1.25" receiver and one with a 2" receiver. It is a bit of a pain to switch between bars but overall, this is a sturdy hitch haul and a great value for the price. It definitely meets my expectations.

Lots of space & great value!

This allowed me to take my large cooler on camping trips with ease. To change from 1.25" bar to 2" bar requires removing a few bolts. For the price point of this product compared to others, it is well worth it.

    Great value for the price

The only drawback was the difficulty in assembly. The directions were backwards and a ratchet was needed. This was not indicated before purchase. Also requires two people. Otherwise, the product works great...very sturdy and balanced. I've owned a more pricey version with rails and this works just as well. I would recommend the netting and plenty of bungie cords or ratchet straps.
