Great tv

The sales price was awesome! The TV feels very stable as long as the table it is on is wide enough. You would need to have something with quite a few inches on either end. At first we had it on a smaller tv table and had to get a new one because I was afraid any floor movement just from walking would make it fall off. The color and clarity is very good and it is a sleek looking item. I did notice that the volume does have to be in the "higher numbers" to hear it well, but that could have something to do with the cathedral ceilings we have. (Just and FYI, the t.v. is on pause in the picture below). I would definitely recommend it!

One major flaw

The Hitachi LE48M4S9 is a nice TV with a lot going for it. I wanted to like it, except it has one major flaw. The viewing angle is very limited. It really detracts from an otherwise fine television. I wish it weren't so because it's a nice TV in all other respects. The built-in Wi-Fi worked well. It also includes an ethernet port. You can browse the full web with the browser. It has a nice picture if you set it to warm and then tweak it using custom settings. It is also a slim, sleek looking set. I'm returning it because the viewing angle is too narrow for use in our den with seating scattered around. Only the two people sitting directly in front can appreciate it. Move off center and the picture quality drops fast. The screen washes out and faces turn green. It was so dramatic that viewers were trying to turn the set to face them! Better to get a set with a wider viewing angle. Keep that in mind if you're considering it. Thankfully, Walmart's online order process and return policy and procedure is great!

Definitely low end product...

Hitachi LE48M4S9 48" The TV itself works fine however, the "Smart TV" is extremely slow. It took me a while to figure out it was still thinking after pressing each button. If you think you will be able to use popular apps like Sling TV which carries ESPN, CNN, HGTV and many more you will be extremely disappointed as "Opera TV Browser and Opera TV Store" have specifically blocked access to the Sling App and many more. I spent ours reading blogs and experimenting. Sling, for instance has been specifically blocked. I purchased a smart TV so I didn't have to have two remotes. Now I have to connect Roku and use two remotes to get Sling and other popular apps to work. If I was going to do it again I would purchase a Smart TV that has Roku embedded or another player that doesn't restrict apps or competitors websites. Walmart did a great job of shipping the product and getting it to me on time.

hitachi 48"smart tv

i've had this tv for a month now and so far so good......i have it hooked up to an outdoor antenna for local stations and they look great.....also have it wired for internet so i can watch netflix and that also works great.....surfing the net though doesn't really work, its very slow and sketchy.....i'm leary of using opera tv apps so i haven't tried any of those or the youtube app so no comment others have said the picture only looks its best when viewing in a small straight on loses color and clarity from side angles just as led computer monitors do so take that into account if you plan on using this tv in a large'll also want to set up a custom color profile for your room as the picture straight out of the box was to bright and fact the only preset that was watchable to me was the movie others have noted the remote is kinda cheap and a bit sensitive but it does what its supposed to......i also opted for the 3 year service plan just in, all in all for $280, $30 tax and $26 service plan delivered to my door within 2 days with the free shipping pass trial i don't think you'll find a better deal on a 48" smart tv

I may return it

I receive my TV promptly, the picture is good and the sound seems adequate. My issue with this TV are as follow: 1) Netflix did not work until I did change the sound setting to manual 2) “Share files” does not work, it is supposed to allow me to play the media from my computer on the TV. The TV listed the folders but no files are display. 3) Playon does not work Please note that this last two functions work perfectly on my wireless Roku2 and Samsung Blue ray player (also wireless) no special setup were require in either case. I do not know is my TV is defective or if the system used by Hitachi just does not work One of the purpose of buying this TV was to free up one of the HDMI, obviously if I want to keep all the functionalities I am accustomed to I will have not fulfill my goal.

Nice low end TV

I purchased this TV for $259 the last week of July 2016. It arrived in a timely manner the first week of Aug. The picture is good for what I'm using it for (as a garage TV) Sound is acceptable. The TV is thicker than most TV's in this class (~4") but it is a rather light TV for it's size. Basically it's a very acceptable TV for this price range.


This TV is suppose to be a "Smart TV" but it is more like a "Dimwit TV". The TV part of it is fine, the audio could be better though. The problem is that if you want it for the "Smart" part, you will surely be disappointed. There is a very limited selection of "Apps " installed on it, and you cannot update anything on the TV. The browser is out of date and cannot be updated either. This version of the browser does not permit any downloads from the internet, so you cannot get things from elsewhere than the specific apps on it. There is a browser store, but it is a joke! If all you want is a descent TV it is OK. But, if you want a "Smart" TV, this one sucks!

5 star price on a 5 star Smart TV

If you are looking to make the transition to big screen smart TV without breaking your budget ,then this is definitely one to consider. It is loaded with just about all the features you could want at a price that will leave you and your bank account smiling.

Great HDTV

Purchased this as a Christmas Gift however someone spotted it on the front porch. Easy to set up, great picture. I based my choice on the ratings from other consumers.
