About This Item

This classic white vinegar is known and loved by all. Made from sun-ripened grain and crystalline water, this vinegar has a crisp, fresh taste. The tanginess perfectly complements your marinades and enhances your sauces for an immense burst of flavor. A slight hint of acidity can really spike up the flavors when drizzled over salads or added to recipes. Moreover, Heinz White Vinegar Distilled can save the day when you accidently make your dish too sweet or too salty -- just dash some into the dish and it will be fixed in no time. This 1 gal jug ensures you will always have vinegar on-hand when a dish calls for it.
  • Collected through selective boiling and condensation from a fermented mixture of American-grown corn and clear water
  • Just the right amount of acidic (5%) for canning and pickling
  • Easy to handle, reclosable jug to avoid spillage
  • We like to keep things Kosher here, at Heinz
  • Manufactured in the USA

It's vinegar
What can I say? It's white vinegar at less than $3/gallon. I bought a bunch because I use it abundantly in my laundry to remove B.O. from my athletic wear, running shoes, and remove dog smell from the dogs' blankets and beds. I sometimes use that biodegradable vegetable based laundry detergent which is better for the environment but not great at removing tough odors. Soaking with a cup or two of vinegar does the trick.

Product great, Walmart shipping needs improvement.
What can you say about white vinegar? Not much, Heinz white distilled vinegar is a known product and you either love it or you prefer other types of vinegar. Unfortunately, Walmart did a substandard job of packing. They mixed heavy, light, bulky, and small items in a large box with no packing materials. When the package arrived, half of the vinegar had leaked and the box was falling apart. I also purchased baking soda and it appears that their packing job created a science fair volcano inside the box.

good product

I have ordered Heinz vinegar before with good shipping. This time the shipping left a lot to be desired. Though the bottle was taped closed and in a plastic bag, the bottle leaked. The box was very wet.

Best cleaning product!

I use white vinegar for almost all cleaning purposes. Works great in the shower..prevents mold and soap residue. Also, use in the laundry...helps lift any detergent and lint residue on clothes. Cleans the dishwasher as well.

Heinz Vinegar Distilled White, 1 gal

I pour this into 'small desert sized bowls' through out my house to 'control odors' from smoking and inside animals. Everyone says my house always smells so clean and I give all the credit to vinegar sitting in small bowls [that are hidden within the house itself.]

Poor Packing by Walmart

The product is fine, but the packing of the product was poor. Some of the containers leaked slightly due to the poor packing for shipping.

1. I have bought gallons of Hines vinegar and other brands from Walmart several times over the years. When canning pickles, I've only added water one year. The pickles with water did not have a very long shelf life and they got a film in the jar. I've never again added water to the vinegar. They always turn out perfect and the canned pickles do not go bad even after a year of setting sealed.

2. All vinegar in the store is diluted with water to either 4% or 5% acetic acid. They use water to bring the acidity down and all recipes are aware of that. Nobody uses pure vinegar; it would taste bad. You can use any 5% acid content vinegar in canning, not sure about 4%. I hope that helps!

4. If your using the vinegar as the recipe states, and not increasing or decreasing the servings. Then you should use it like the recipe calls for, 1 quart of vinegar, to 3 quarts water.

5. Check with the new Ball Canning book to make sure of what you need to do.
by Vondie007
6. This vinegar is already diluted down to 5 %. If you add water it will be to weak to have any affect on the pickling process. I've pickled some items and never diluted this vinegar. There are some vinegars out there that are much stronger than 5% and they may think that is what you are using. Hope this helps. I am not an expert on canning but have done a bit in the past.

2. I wouldn't use it on bedbugs unless you would like the smell of vinegar where you slept. Try Bed Bug Bully (available online)
