Good centifugal juicer for starters
We bought this to start up juicing. So far so good. (Walmart offers protection /replacement plan for $3, your choice). The only drawback is, when you juice you want to include the fruit/veg skins, hence you buy organic ones, which will cost you abt $20-$60 per 3-5day serving. Centifugal doesn't extract skin as much as masticating juicer (which costs $200). Which will save you more money? Bottom line - for starter I would possitively recommend this. For pros or gearing up to next level juicing, I would not recommend this. See photos I attached and hope it helps.

Best Value!!

I bought this to start a juice fast, reboot program. I have used it several times daily. It juices greens (spinach, kale, parsley etc.) very well which was one of my initial concerns. I love the brush it comes with to clean the mesh filter. I use a plastic bag in the pulp container to help with the clean up (then use the pulp for a compost pile). I have never used a different juicer, but I am really pleased with everything. Especially the price!!

Surpassed Expectations

My girlfriend was interested in getting into juicing, so I did some research on different models. This wasn't my first choice, but the fancy unit I was looking at was sold out. But after getting this unit and using it HEAVILY for the last few weeks, it in incredible. We put 2-3 batches through it a day, and it has stood up great! Carrots, sweet potatoes, plenty of softer fruit and leafy vegetables have met their fate in this machine of joy. One of the reviews I read said its cleanup was difficult, and to use a bag in the pulp bin. We tried this the first 2 batches. We haven't done it since. It's very easy to clean up, with the most time being spent using the included brush to clear out the screen. Overall, it's really easy to clean. And it's relatively quiet to boot! I'd recommend this heartily as a starting unit. Perhaps after a while when we've checked out other people's machines, we may be able to see other features which might be worth extra, but this seems like a steal at this price.

Amazing juicer for a great price

I have been wanting a juicer for a while, and was always hesitant to purchase one thanks to their reputation of being pretty expensive. When I heard about this juicer, I spent about two days reading through reviews and finally decided to purchase it. I couldn't be happier. It is everything I expected and more. It makes tons of juice. It's easy to clean. It fits entire fruits and vegetables inside. It's honestly one of the best, and smartest, appliance choices I have ever made. You need to get this if you're like me and are looking for a great starting point to enter the juicing world.

My first Juicer.

After reading many of the reviews, I decided to give this juicer a try. I am so glad that I did! First, I have found that although the juice made from this juicer, initially does have a "frothy" like foam on top, after several days in the fridge it will dissolve. I would recommed that you juice in advance & refrigerate for several days, if the "froth" bothers you. Secondly, line your pulp bin with a plastic bag before juicing, it helps with the clean up. I would advise you to clean your juicer promptly, dried remains will be harder to clean..they provide a brush for easy clean up. Third, I have found that juicing in abundance is good for those new to juicing. I made a gallon of green juice & I have been enjoying several glasses daily without having to juice. Lastly, first time juicers...because your objective is to extract juice, understand that juicing a cucumber, celery, or an equally "juicy" fruit or veggie will yield more juice then kale, or some other less than "juicy" fruit or veggie. So, do not be discouraged if your juice recipe yields minimal juice, but lots of pulp...fresh juice is your main objective. Quality -vs- Quantity, your choice! Tip: Do NOT use bananas, avacado, beans prouts, bok choy, figs, mushrooms, or white potatoes in your juicer. Happy juicing!

Love it!

I purchased this juicer in an effort to get more fruits and vegetables back in to my diet. I have used it almost everyday for a month and have had no problems. Easy to set up and easy to clean! Use the plastic fruit bags in the pulp receptacle for even easier cleaning. The only thing it does not juice well are leafy greens but you do still get some juice from them. Everything else has been great and I love having real juices without the extra sugars and preservatives.

Definitely recomend to anyone who wants to juice

I don't see why people pay hundreds for a juicer. This is a great product easy to assemble and clean and the price is a bargain. I've never been big on juicing because the pulp is mostly lost, but I think you still get some serious nutrition from juicing. Anyway I'd definitely recommend this juicer and kudos to the lady that said she puts a plastic bag on the pulp container, great idea that makes cleaning very easy. Thanks Hamilton Beach, great product.

Great product for the purchase price

I am very happy with my Hamilton Beach Juicer. This is only my second juicer so I can only rate between the two juicers. I previously owed a Juiceman for several years and I burned it out. I purchased this Hamilton Beach juice for two reason: first the price which was under my budget price. Second reason was the large mouth chute makes it easy to place whole fruits in the juicer. It's a basic no frills juicer. No dials just an on and off switch which makes this juicer easy. With cleaning this juicer it the same with my last one. The unit comes apart easy and is easy to clean. It's a bit of a pain to clean the mesh metal filter. I use a soft natural plant fiber brush rather that the brush that comes with the unit. I simply clean filter under running water and get good results. I have had it now for two months and use it two to three time a week. I can't rate the durability as of yet but I am very happy so far.

Good For A Pure Beginner

As Of 11/27/2013 I have used this Juicer 4 days out of the 7 days. I am in the experimental stage of Juicing . So far each of the 4 days that I have Juiced up about 1 1/2 Quarts each time. The Machine has performed flawlessly So Far. :) The Machine seems to leave a bit More Pulp than I thought it would and since I wash all the Veggies/Fruit before putting them into the Juicer the pulp is Nowhere near dry.Clean Up is easy enough. Most parts just rinse off. The Basket that processes the food takes a bit of work scrubbing in warm soapy water to get it back in a properly clean Condition. Merely trying to rinse the "Basket" Does not work , you have to scrub both sides of it with the supplied brush and rise over and over in order to clean all the particles out of the basket. I let it soak in the warm soapy water a couple minutes Pryor to scrubbing.I hate cleaning but it takes me less than 8 minutes to clean. Durability?? Time will tell. :)

GREAT JUICER FOR THE NOVICE

I've only used this a few times, but it works great for juicing carrots, apples, & ginger. Tried parsley and it didn't fare too well. Just shot the leaves into the pulp bin. Could have been "operator error", though. Willing to try again. The wide mouth hopper makes jucing only a few carrots somewhat awkward since they rattle around quite a bit before you get the pusher in place, but it isn't that much of a drawback. Would not recommend juicing whole apples since the seeds contain certain toxins and aren't good for you. All in all, a good product. Metal clamps are very sturdy and should be long-lasting. Other parts are made well and seem as if they will be durable. Easy to assemble/disassemble and clean. Recommend running it just for a quick second after washing to get all the water out of the basket. Would recommend.

1. No! But some overly large items might need to be cut into smaller pieces just to fit into the feed shoot.
by Geefry
2. Thank you for your question. We do not recommend processing food before juicing. Most fruits and vegetables such as apples, carrots, and cucumbers will not need to be cut since they will fit into feed chute whole. It is recommended that fruits or vegetables such as oranges, melons, or mangoes are peeled before placing in unit to minimize impact on juice flavor.
by HamiltonBeachTeam
3. I've seen no need, so far, with what we juice. We do carrots, whole beets, and apples everyday. The only thing I've tried, that I thought may need a little more prep, is a sweet potato. It was just a little more longer going through, and maybe would work better if at least cut into small pieces.
by livinglearning
4. no. just cut it up and put it in.
by newjuice1
5. We've been throwing everything in this machine, and it hasn't balked at anything. A ton of carrots (which are pretty firm) as well as sweet potatoes. The only things we've even peeled have been citrus fruit, pineapple and mangoes. Everything else just gets cut small enough to fit in the chute.
by TheBullish
6. Probably not. The juicer works on centrifugal force as it cuts up the veggies and that flings the juice to the outside of the cutter/strainer basket. Stuff thats already cut up will not stay in the cutter/strainer long enough to yield all it's juice. Besides, that would increase the clean up time.
by Mrkgtr
7. No. I do not recommend that.
by CooperWay
8. No just cut up the fruit or veggie so it fits down the chute an it does all the work.
by Momoftwinsandz
9. No, that would defeat the point.
by Bherenow54
10. No need to. I just scrub things like carrots, cucumbers, etc. and put them in whole. If they are too long, I just cut them up into smaller pieces.
by CombatKelly
11. I don't think it would be necessary to pre-process the foods, unless you are juicing something really challenging. So far, I've done apples, pineapples, hearty greens like kale and it works great. For some drinks, you may want to blend it when done with some ice. Hope that helps!
by LisaK590
12. It's extra work, and this machine grinds everything so well. I do peel and cut up what I put in the juicer, especially when I cannot find organically grown fruits and vegetables.

4. It has a similar noise level to my blender. It makes the tot & dog take notice but it's fast! :)
by TBacon
5. not really - i was expecting a loud vacuum sound, but it wasn't that loud - didn't even scare my kitties, so that is a good sign!
by floridamom13
6. YUP!
by LisaES98
7. It can be pretty noisy, although that term is relative. My unit is on kitchen counter near a wall and refrigerator so I think the sound bounces off nearby solid surfaces and vibrates counter top. Putting machine on a solid rubber mat might help. I would NOT recommend putting juicer on a towel or other plush surface since that could block the motor's air vents on bottom of machine. Also, unit does vibrate sometimes if the strainer basket gets off balance from accumulated food pulp. It's similar to an unbalanced washing machine. Such vibration is quite noisy. I would say this juicer is a little bit quieter than the average blender but louder than a small electric coffee grinder.
by jet4badgers
8. It's not supper noisy. I think it's about half as quite as a blender. I hope this helps.
by VeryPicky459
9. Yes and No. Compared to other grinders it's less noisy. You can wake up sleeping baby in next room, if that gives you some idea.
by T1gerClaw
10. Yes it is very noisy!!!!
