I bought this to replace one that just died. It looks nice and smaller than others. Cons: no auto shut-off, cord is attached to unit, cord is too short. I'm returning it to store and getting the Kolaric or Aroma instead.

would be helpfull if it had a thermostat, it boils water quickly, but it is either on or off....keeping the boiling water at temperature would be a nice feature and not have it just boil away.

My family (4 people) must drink over 25-30 cups of instant coffee per day. My husband noticed that turning the burner on the stove under a traditional tea kettle was a great waste of energy. This little pot is extraordinary for this purpose. The greatest feature versus other stainless steel ones I looked at was the "see through" window. You can readily see the water level and when it is boiling!!!! Very fast, love the pour spout (no more burning hands with steam from tea kettle), and while it still takes energy, it can't be as much as heating the stove.

I bought this for the "Boil-dry protection" listed on the package. I assumed it to mean it would shut off when the water was boiled out. It stays on though, drawing the same amount of watts for hours (as I found out). Also it developed a random leak not 6 months after I bought it. I never found the hole, but it will leave a puddle of water whenever used. Hamilton Beach did take it back under warranty, but only after I cut off the power plug, mailed the plug to them AND sent a check for $6.99 to cover shipping. Very disappointed with the whole thing.

Pros: Its small (which I wanted) It looks nice Cons: It doesn't switch off when it boils The cord is tiny! - only about 18 inches long. Also it isn't one of thse with a base (i should have read the description better) so i'm trying to poar water into cups without having to pull out the plug and its a pain. Fine as a travel kettle though.

The price is good, and verything works like it's supposed to. The biggest problem is there is no automatic shutoff. So basically if you turn it on, you need to wait until its boiling and then shut it off. I should have bought the other one that was cheaper and had an auto shutoff. Other than that, it works good.

This kettle works well and heats water quickly. It also is compact so does not take up much counter space. The negatives for me are it does not whistle and does not shut off when boiled dry. But, I bought this and the Presto and this one seemed to be better quality overall.

I was surprised at the size of the kettle because i did not pay attention to the 1L. However, It does the job well and it is surely faster then the microwave. I never write reviews but I have to spend the extra minutes and tell you how great this product is. I am impressed.

I had seen this one in action before and wanted one for myself. So as soon as I found it I purchased it and am not sorry I did. It takes less time to get water to a boil with it than in the microwave. Thanks for this little Kettle.

I haven't noticed that it is not cordless. But ok, my fault. However this kettle makes him breaks while boiling the water. Water is almost done, then kettle stops. You wait 1 minute, then kettle starts again and finishes his job. I also haven't noticed that the switch does not automatically turn itself off, so the kettle will stop boiling, but switch is still 'on' and when water temperature goes down, kettle starts again and the cycle closes. So you cannot start the water and leave for holiday. I don't recommend to a friend only because it stops boiling what makes the boiling time longer. Maybe it concerns only mine specimen. However, I have this kettle almost for an year and it simply works. Used everyday many times, does the hard work, so dollars were spent good.

    • A. Thank you for your question. We recommend using kettle for boil water only. If kettle is used to heat other liquids, such as coffee or tea, the warranty will be voided

    • A. It holds a liter of water. I think you can make hot chocolate in anything that heats water, so I would say yes, you can make hot chocolate in it. You may have a little difficulty if you have to stir it because the lid doesn't come off.

    • A. Yes you could but the openning is so small, it may be difficult to clean the inside. And also you will have to stay with the kettle while u are making the hot chocolate so it dosent boil over because it heats very fast, as it says, it if faster than the microwave,

    • A. no reason why not.. there is no exposed element so cleaning is easier. However if you burn the milk on it then it will be a pain to clean! (but then thats the same for pretty much anything) :)

    • A. I think you could. It might be hard to get the inside really clean because of the grooves where the metal heating plate meets the base.

    • A. Like most electric kettles, this one is not meant to boil much other than water. If it had a wider opening, I would say you could try it, but if you've got hands larger than a four-year-old's, then I do not suggest it. That, and it isn't dishwasher safe or submersible. Clean up is a near-impossibility when you're putting dairy products and chocolate in this thing, I would be willing to bet.

    • A. The lid actually opens, but doesn't come off. It would still work for you to "breath the steam". The product does not turn off automatically so as long as you keep water inside, you should be able to get as much steam as you need.
