    Great Coffee Machine
I bought this a month ago and I love it. It's great for morning coffee when you need a full pot and even better for later in the day when you want just 1cup. I would definitely recommend this product.

This Coffee Pot has Several Issues
We purchased this coffee pot about 6 months ago from our local Walmart. Given the brand and the price, we figured this would be a nice upgrade from our older model. We were wrong. From the very get go, we had issues. First of all, be prepared to run A LOT of pots of clean water through this thing. Make sure to run at minimum ten pots of fresh water through in order to remove the taste of plastic. It's horrid tasting. Second of all, as others have stated, the design is just bad. Having to use one cup of water for 1 Kcup is just stupid. The single serve side is completely useless. Also, make sure that you run clean water through that a bunch of times or it will taste like burning plastic. Third, the main reservoir lid on the top must get too hot because it's now warped. I will add a picture so you can see what I mean. All in all, I have had $15 coffee makers that work better than this one does. Don't let the higher price or the stainless steel trick you into thinking that you are buying a quality appliance. You're not. I advise anybody to not buy this product.

    Great entry-level home brewer!

This is a perfect entry-level dual machine. Does the job and elevated the covid home-office. The single cup included filter I find brews even better with grinds compared to KCups which is perfect if you want to use Kcup on the go, brew a single cup as needed or a pot

    Very practical

I love this flex brew from Hamilton beach. I can use pods for Just one coffee and if i need more then à couple. I can use the 12 cups coffee pot for that service

Good product with some design flaws

Pros: 1) only need one coffee machine on counter top; 2) has loose coffee grounds basket for single cup included and it works great; 3) it works pretty good once you understand the limitations. Cons: 1) heater under large pot comes on when using single cup side of coffee maker; 2) has problems with some K-cup brands (pods that have K-cup top but only filter on bottom, these pods appear to be over packed, which results in half a cup of coffee and steam/hot water pressure release when removing pod), but works good with normal K-cup designs; 3) can only put in max 10 ounces of water for single cup. Which means you can't have a full reservoir of water and use the single cup side of machine. It appears to be a safety feature, so it just won't work. 4) If pod clogs, be careful about removing K-cup holder. This will cause the backed up hot water to be released into the K-cup, resulting in hot water entering unsealed K-cup and washing coffee grounds out the hole in the top of the K-cup and down into your cup of coffee.

    Lukewarm coffee

The carafe side makes a nice, hot cup of coffee. I did not have any of the issues with "plastic taste" that others had. My issue is with the single serve side. The temperature of the brewed coffee from the single side is warm, not hot. I have to put it in the microwave for about 20 seconds to bring it up to "hot". I checked the temp with a instant read thermometer, twice. Came out at 147 degrees and 154 degrees. H-B assured me that it comes out between 175 and 180. I thought that the unit might be defective. After much discussion, they sent me a replacement. Guess what? Same issue. Well, I guess I will continue to microwave the single serve for 20 minutes. It's an issue that I can live with. All in all, the coffeemaker is "OK", not great. Check the pics for brewed water coming right out of the single-serve side.

    good machine

Coffee comes out super hot. Good size. Downside is that putting in a pod at 4 am, you wake up the house as it makes such a loud noise when you push the top on.

    Purchased ~ 6 months ago ......

I bought this product for its versatility but honestly the pod portion was more for our daughters when they came home from college for visits. This is where I am at fault. I didn't bother to buy pods to try out that side of the machine since they usually have their own preferred brands, so it was a couple of months before that side of the machine was utilized. My husband and I use the full pot side. All worked as it should for about 3-4 times on the POD side before we started having issues. The steam apparently got so hot that it warped the plastic carrier/holder that it would not got into the machine without "pinching" the pod top making it useless. I contacted Hamilton Beach inquiring & to find out that I can purchase a replacement holder for another $10 plus $10 for shipping. Not happy but cheaper then replacing a $80 coffee pot. Once again, this time after about a dozen uses the plastic again became warped and "pinched" the pods and disbursed the water all over the machine and floor. After much finagling I managed to hold down the pod cup and get it in the machine without it pinching! That was the last cup of coffee I attempted to make with the POD side. Apparently, the water/steam backed up into the machine before disbursing warped the plastic water level and warped the cover to the coffee basket. The machine now reads it has more water in it than it does - this makes it impossible to use the SINGLE basket portion of the POD side because it will only allow so much water in the holder or it will not work and displays an ERROR message. You can see the maximum levels in picture 2. Since I am limited to only 2 pictures, I will assume you, the reader can visualize the warped lid on the full size basket portion. Picture 1 is the pinching, and two the frozen level reader.

I Don't Like Drinking Melting Styrene

The product is a good idea but the design has a problem in that the K-cups melt or deform in the process. Obviously the temperature has been set too high as the cups come out deformed and your coffee has the smell and taste of polystyrene. Can't be healthy but the company isn't taking responsibility so you'll have to run the thing back to Wallymart . I sent an email to Hamilton Beach who told me. "The K cups can deform due to being squeezed when being punctured and there is often some deformation due to the hot water flowing through - however the water temperature is not hot enough to melt the plastic. I have seen this topic from other consumers where they perceive the K cup to be melted but that really is not possible." Thank you. Single cup don't work

Single cup don't work . When trying to fix a cuppa coffee the first couple times it worked but after that nothing but staying all the water you put in evaporates the regular coffee pot side works great not to mention it is not meant for large coffee mugs adding water to the reservoir my only takes a small amount of water it's not worth the money the trouble or the headaches

    1. No you can not!
    by 123too
    2. There is a permanent filter on the single cup side, not for pot size though.
    by 123too
    3. You can only use one side at a time. I have been able to use all K-cups. I find that if I use the heel of my hand to push the K-cup into the holder it snaps into place easily. Sometimes I do it the other way (pushing it in with my fingers) and the K-cup does not stay completely seated so then I take the heel of my hand and push down and all is well. Sometimes if I have had to do the latter, I find turning the K-cup a little to one side or the other and punching a new hole in the bottom works. I love this machine. I get out of the single side, what I pour into it. I don't get shorted a 1/4 cup.
    by Gramma
    4. No, you have to chose one side or the other. And if you leave the coffeemaker to the single serve size, the programming won't work until you switch it to brew a whole pot.
    by SoCoN8iv
    5. It's one or the other, but you can brew a carafe, switch to single cup and then switch back to keep the carafe warm. You can use any k-cup brand.
    by cccoffee123
    6. No it will not take ALL K-cups. I got mine as a gift and it came with a big box of Victor Allen K cups. The base of the Victor Allen K cups is just a bit too wide to properly seat in the Flexbrew K cup holder. There is at least one other variety of non-Keurig cups that don't work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly-OEMS4deM

    7. yes, see other answers to the same question. any k-cups can be used.
    by miamifan
    8. If you use the single serve option you have to switch to it but the burner states it will be hot on the 12 cup side per the door where the water goes into on the top.
    by miamifan
    9. Not all K-cup types can be used with this coffee maker. I have one kind that the coffee pot will not puncture the top. Water boils out all over the counter. You cannot fill the pot with water and then choose to brew a single cup. You have to unplug the pot and empty the water into the sink or set it to full pot mode and perk the water out. You have to fill the reservoir to either the small or large cup size. Any more and you get an "Err" message. You also have to manually set the cup holder to the appropriate size cup of get coffee splashing as the cup fills.
    by Mossyback
    10. it brews on 1 side or the other, not at the same time. And uses any K Cup style.
    by coffeeBuff
    11. Thank you for your question. This unit will only brew on one side at a time. For best results, use K-Cup packs sold by Green Mountain Coffee.
    by HamiltonBeachTeam
    12. You have to use one function at a time. When you are finished brewing a full pot of coffee you can make a single serve on the other side while the coffee sits in the pot. If you try to make a single serve and have enough water in it to brew a pot of coffee it will all come out and have an over flow. It works great after I brew a pot of coffee and my daughter wants a hot cocoa. You can use any brand of K cup...I even use the Keurig they are compatible as well.
