An excellent PC for multiple purposes
I bought this laptop about 3 and a half months ago, and so far I have had no problems with it, I can play GTA V with an average of 59-60 FPS at the max settings, aswell as Fortnite on All epic settings with shadows off at 60-80 FPS ingame. I'm able to run things like Discord, tabs, and Spotify all at the same time with no problem. I'd just recommend going into your Nvidia control panel, and changing everything from your CPU's UHD 630 Intel graphics to the 1050 ti, so you are given better framerate. Unfortunately, you cannot overclock anything on this PC (at least the CPU). As this is a laptop, I'd recommend getting some extra cooling things for it, as mine will really hit higher temperatures while playing games on high-max settings. Overall a wonderful computer for everything ranging from Work, to Web surfing, to gaming on mid-high tier settings.

Crappy Computer
Had this computer less than 2 months and the motherboard went out. Had a 90 day warranty so I called HP support. After much ado about trying to get the computer to do something just anything. They decided I could ship it back for repair. On the phone for over 1 hour and 30 minutes just to get a box shipped to return it.

Good price for Gamer laptop

Bought this during "Black Friday '18" for $599. Good buy. Plays my Steam games like Star Trek and The Hunter with no problems on high settings. I like the lighted keyboard. Best low end "Gamer" laptop for the price at the time. We've had bad luck with hard drives going out on HP laptops in the past and their printers not lasting. It's only been 6 weeks though.

Huge Value Entry Level Gaming

HD screen with very fast processing. Great deal for $599

Almost perfect

For $599 there isn't any better deal out there for an entry level gaming laptop. However, the one major flaw of this laptop is that the CPU runs a little too hot for my liking. My unit hovers around 80-85°C while playing MapleStory 2, where the CPU is only being 20% utilized. This is in a 65°F room. Despite this flaw, I would still recommend this laptop for $599.

Runs Pretty Hot

First, the free games are crap and you can get them free easily online without the code. Don't worry if it doesn't work, you're not missing anything. Now, I got this laptop for $650. The price is great for the hardware, but I have to mention this laptop runs hot and seems to run always at turbo boost frequencies (4Ghz) despite load. It also runs pretty hot when gaming (most laptops do) usually thermal throttles right out of the box within a few minutes of playing a video game because it can reach over 95 C pretty easily. Despite this, the laptop is still good, but there is some things I recommend to remedy this. Make sure you get something to prop it up to get proper airflow if it's not on a solid surface. A laptop cooler is not a bad idea it just alone will not address this concern. Second, download ThrottleStop. It's a program that can permanently alter CPU behavior. Turn on speed shift, the number next to it is the shift amount (0-255; Default for this laptop is 0). 128 is a good balance. You can lookup tutorials for bringing down the voltage. I can safely do -125 mv, your mileage will very. If you are technically savy, re-apply better thermal compound to the heat pipes. Use Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut if you can get it, I didn't have any on hand so I used IC Diamond. Next make sure it's not hot in the room you're using the laptop in (lower the ambient temperature the better). Now, my laptop takes a while before it hits that over 95 c.

Works great so far, but free games...

So far works great, runs cool. Got for black Friday, however the $170 worth of free games I can't get to work after a month of trying :(. Every time I type the softwareoffer.intel.com/Walmart it says website isn't found... really wanted to use these but they don't want you to get these games apparently. If anyone can help that would be great.

Having regrets.

This seemed great at first, but my son is having a frustrating time with it. The screen goes black for no reason whatsoever and the only way to fix it is to shut it off and turn it back on...not so great for gaming. Sometimes when you turn it back on it's in black and white, so then you have to do it again. I'm going to try to return even though slightly outside return period, fingers crossed. We're bummed. This was a big expense for us.

Not reliable.

The laptop was the pinnacle of my Christmas. Finally a computer to game and take my online classes. I treated it like a baby. I made sure the hard drive was clean and I avoided all sites that could not be trusted. Regardless, the laptop died. It died and left me high and dry when I had to turn in a big assignment. I ended up missing a deadline. It now will not turn on. This was not a reliable laptop. When it did work, it would run games fine. I got some great usage from it and it ran games well. I would not say to run AAA titles through it, but it ran older games like Gmod well. It is a shame that the PC died. It was good, *WHILE IT LASTED***

Gamer laptops cannot play games.

I bought 2 computers for Christmas. HP refused to help me get the computers working. They want me to pay money to get extra phone support for 2 new computers. Cannot play Steam games on one. And the other one freezes playing simple games like runescape and the screen will go blank. I also don't like the screen hinge as it flexes too much and could see the screen cracking. Should have return write away. Now fighting to return them. Or will need to pay a computer tech to get them working
