Great fun for gaming, movies, and general use

An excellent product from HP with outstanding customer service. All of my tech products are HP and have been for years. I generally get excellent service and minimal issues with HP products. This is the first gaming laptop we have owned yet not the only one we have used. There were many reviews complaining about the backlit keyboard; we found the ability to change the colors to be remarkable when playing different games or just general daily use with emails and documents. Multiple input sites on each side. The contoured case is lightweight and attractive. Excellent gaming graphics, NOT a touchscreen. Colors are brilliant and vibrant on the screen for games and movies. Quick download with multiple genre items. 3-5 movies can download in less than a minute while playing a game and streaming music. No CD/DVD ROM. The power pack is bulky but the power cord has plenty of length for any use that exceeds the 3-6 hrs of battery time. Works well for games and virtual reality, excellent for beginners and intermediate, even our advanced gamer son’s found the laptop to be an excellent product. New and older games ran well with no snags or freezes. Omen has a series of gaming laptops, this particular model is on the mid-range with many options that leave a person confused, but great options can be selected based on a person’s use. This is a fun, attractive and well-built laptop.

SOLID laptop - Fast, smooth, large capacity, no CD

This laptop runs the main programs (ie. operating system and important programs) off of the included 256GB PCIe SSD hard drive, so you can insure a very stable and FAST start up and loading. All browsing and streaming from the internet is super fast, accordingly with your internet speed, of course. The extra internal 1TB 7200 rpm SATA HDD gives for extra space for everything else. The microprocessor is Intel Core i7-8705G with Radeon RX Vega M GL Graphics (3.1 GHz base frequency, up to 4.1 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 8 MB cache, 4 cores). Memory is 16 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB). Video graphics is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB GDDR5 dedicated). The display is 15.6" diagonal FHD IPS anti-glare WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080). The laptop comes with Windows 10 Home 64 installed. It weighs around 5.7lbs, with dual speakers, and lasts about an average of 3-6 hours of battery time (dependent on how you use it). The charger that comes with it though is big, bulky, and heavy, and almost weighs just as much as the laptop does. It also does not have a CD-ROM drive, but nothing a USB CD-ROM drive can’t fix. The keypad feels normal, as in, there’s nothing special about it and nothing odd about it, which is the way I like it because there are times a slight placement of certain keys or smaller keys (like the SHIFT key) throws my quick clicking/typing habits a little off. The keys light up in several colors, even sectionally different colors at the same time, so that’s really neat. There are plenty of ports with 1 Thunderbolt 3 (Data Transfer up to 40 Gb/s, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge), 3 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (1 HP Sleep and Charge), 1 Mini DisplayPort, 1 HDMI, 1 RJ-45, 1 headphone/microphone combo, and 1 microphone-in. The laptop runs games smoothly on high-end graphics, such as Left for Dead 2 (old game of 10 years maybe) to Guild Wars 2. For those looking to hook up virtual reality (Oculus) to it, I’m glad to say that the HP Omen 15-CE198WM runs it quite well. Because I also look at the price-point of technology to its capabilities and features, this is a truly SOLID laptop for most gamers, beginners and intermediate. It runs smoothly, has a good keyboard, has little to no snags, and plays just about everything.
My husky showing off her gaming laptop!Great design and colors - outer shell has a very cool logo

Outstanding Performance in Competitive Price Range

First off, I'd like to say the build quality on this amazing. Compared to the Dell G7, which is within the same price point and similar specs, the HP Omen has more of a character. There's no doubt that with its 16GB RAM, GTX 1060 GPU, 256GB SSD, and 8th Gen i7, any gaming enthusiast will tell you this will run just about any game in the market on its glorious 15.6" anti-glare screen. Oh, did I also mention, this HP Omen runs B&O dual speakers to enhance your experience? Being a gaming fanatic for years, laying my hands on this has reignited my passion to run my PC games again, but in MAX settings this time. Flipping that monitor open gives me that uncontrollable excitement with its customizable Dragon Red backlit keyboard. If you wanted to take a break from gaming, the 71WHr battery life could last 5hours under light usage. Ultimately, you'll get the best bang for your buck for any gaming laptop within this league. *I am writing this review as part of a contest.

Amazing laptop, performance, quieter than dell g7

Compared to the dell g7 with same specs I can tell that this laptop have better hardware and runs way quieter , I wasn’t sure which one to get this or the dell so I got both and returned that one didn’t meet my requirements, dell g7 i7 8750h 16 gb ram 128 ssd 1060 qmax vs ho with same specs just nvme 250 Samsung makes the difference in performance this one is a way faster , they keyboard can be customated with rgb (not spectrum wave or something fancy but you can do it in sections ) in terms on battery this laptop is pretty bad , but really quiet , I streamed fortnite all epic settings with no problem on stream no overheating nothing this laptop did it like my 8700k pc , amazing laptop it can run hot after long periods of gaming but it’s insanely quiet than any other gaming laptop I purchased. Good laptop for the money to play all games at 1080 max settings , good for gaming ur not for college unless you have a plug near by

Gaming laptop kills it with design and performance

For the $1200-1300 price point, the HP Omen 15 is a solid choice compared to similarly priced gaming laptops like the Dell XPS and ASUS ROG. Here are the benefits/drawbacks over this peer group. Performance: GTX 1060 will let you play Battlefield 4 on Ultra-High with nearly 100 FPS and makes it VR Ready to run Occulus as well. Screen: 4k screen if you want to watch movies in high resolution, or you can set it to 1080p and insure you hit 100+ FPS on even the most graphically demanding games. Usability: full numpad and backlit keys for gaming in the dark, surrounded by a layer of aluminum to give it a premium feel. Keyboard feels just as a responsive as mechanical keyboards on much higher end gaming laptops. Speakers: placement in the front of the laptop instead of sides makes the sound come across fuller and better if you're not using headphones. Weight: at 5-6 pounds, this is on par with other gaming laptops, and can't be considered an ultra portal device, but easy to carry. I am writing this review as part of a contest.

Functions and looks like Alienware

I'm a big PC gamer and at first, I was skeptical that the quality of this gaming PC wouldn't even come close to the Alienware line. However, the look and feel of it closely resembles that of your $2k plus Alienware products as well as the gaming functionality that it brings - all for a great, low price! Although the resolution of the screen/pixels is not as clear as your topline gaming PCs, the low price point vastly outweighs this small blemish. I also could not tell a huge difference, if any, regarding control responsiveness between this and the 17R4 Alienware that I currently have (was playing Fortnite and was not disappointed with the results). Overall, if you're shopping on a budget but want to have the same great gaming experience provided by other top of the line PCs, you definitely can't go wrong with the HP Omen 15. Fantastic gaming Laptop!

The HP Omen gaming laptop is a fantastic gaming machine. Awesome graphics and fast response time from the latest intel processor. This laptop basically checks all the boxes on a gaming laptop. The 120hz full HD panel is very bright and has fantastic colors. keyboard has a great feeling to it for gaming, solid build quality and it comes with huge battery. It’s got a beautiful hinge and design and great port selection. The dedicated GTX 1060 is well enough power for most games out there. All this with the latest 8th gen intel processor and 256 SSD for fast load time makes it one of the best affordable gaming laptops. If you are in the market for a gaming laptop you should consider the HP Omen system. I am writing this review as part of a contest."

Great for what I need

I was a loyal Dell brand user for years, and this laptop has made me confident in my decision to change. Yes, all of the qualities regarding the processor and memory, etc. are wonderful, but my favorite part about this laptop is that it is quiet! I hear it on occasion, but the volume when running is not annoying. It also doesn't seem to get too hot on my lap. The backlit keyboard can be turned off, so that isn't an issue for me. Another great thing about this laptop is that it is not a touch screen. I personally love that aspect- it's less to clean. Overall, I would recommend this laptop to anybody who wants or needs a new one!

Portable gaming just as you'd expect

*I am writing this review as part of a contest. I'm a PC gamer, no doubt about it, but I've always stuck to me desktops for what seemed like obvious reasons. This laptop puts my for belief in doubt. Running Fortnight I expected some serious lag, tearing, lo-res options for the game: the usual pitfalls of gaming on something smaller. Boy was I disappointed! This thing blazes beyond anything I expected. No issues whatsoever, and while I can't claim it beats the machine I build at home, with all the traveling I do to game with friends and the hassle of packing up my rig and setting it up when I get to my friends' places, this is a serious consideration for me as a portable option when I don't want to haul my desktop around.

Strong gaming laptop that is lightweight

The HP Omen is a strong gaming laptop that you can take on the go. With the intel core i7 processor and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card, you can run most games on this laptop and take it on the go. The SSD allows the computer to load quickly and the start up is extremely quick. They keyboard is backlit and has a great feel to it when you press down on individual keys. I've been a firm believer of mechanical keyboards, and this laptop has a similar feel without all of the noise. The overall design of the computer is sleek and feels smooth to the touch. The trackpad could use some work, but overall the physical hardware is awesome. I am writing this review as part of a contest.
