Despite the previous customers' negative experience, I decided to take a chance on this swingset and fortunately, I only have to say that I am very happy with Gorillas' "Catalina" playset. First of all the price, I found what I paid for this playset very reasonable considering the great quality of the materials and all the features the product has to offer compared to the other overpriced swingsets you find at Costco or the extremely expensive "Rainbow" brand, which you can expect to pay at least double, if not triple, for a similar model playset like Gorillas' "Catalina". Second, the delivery, I received my playset in less than 7 days when I was told it would be at least 14, but who ever complains about fast delivery right? But Do Be Warned..the boxes are extremely heavy, my brother and I had to help the two delivery men unload a few of those boxes and it took all 4 of us to carry & move just 1 box to the correct building site on my backyard so be sure to have some help around when it arrives. Third, the packing list of material and hardware, I have been very lucky to say that my playset came with EXTRA hardware and parts . I received a total of 9 boxes and the playset arrived complete and not missing any items. Fourth, the quality of the wood is of excellent quality prestained and water sealed sturdy cedar wood and the hardware #nuts, bolts, screws, chains etc.# is of excellent quality too. Fifth, the assembly, if you're a reliable handyman who is not afraid of a challenge and can follow instructions carefully then go for it, but if you're all thumbs when it comes to tools and couldn't build a model toy car to save your life, like me, then get professional help and save yourself the anguish and the embarrassment. Sixth, the finished built swingset looks very nice and adds a very special touch to your backyard. The playset looks just right for kids, not too small and fragile where it resembles a matchstick house nor too big and heavy where it looks like you built the Army Fort Knox Compound on your backyard. Seventh, the kids, they cant get enough of it and they just love it! Oh, and I was finally able to drag them away from the TV and those darn video games! Conclusion, so if you're shopping for a swingset, I very strongly recommend the "Gorilla Playsets" brand, even if you're not interested in the "Catalina" model, Gorilla Playsets offer a variety of quality swingsets in different style models designed to fit in many different backyard and budget sizes.

Manuals & Guides
So far our girls (2 and 4) love this set! My husband assembled it himself in about 17 hours. Directions were clear and easy to follow, but some steps like assembling the tube slide were tedious. Be sure you are sure it is in the proper place in your yard on the step it tells you to because there will be no moving it once assembly is complete! The product seems made to last and the wood is high quality. We love the poly coating on the main beams. Highly satisfied so far!
Materials arrive by shipper on one large pallet. 9 boxes about 800 pounds total weight. I put it up by myself. My wife assisted when I set up the main fort post. 4 days and a million screw/bolts later the playset is up. I elected to built it on grass because I am not putting in the box area. I ordered a separate and box. Directions were easy to follow but it does take time to assemble. Recommend predrilling for thinner boards or wood will split when you screw it in. I love it. Kids love it.
Kids will enjoy this set for a long time.
Looks great and kids love it already. Some minor chips and dings in some of the wood pieces and was short 8 lag screws but otherwise came with everything needed and instructions were pretty straight forward. Took 4 people about 14 hours to assemble the whole thing. The spiral slide would've been better if pieces were labeled, would've made that assembly much easier.
Great Fun for my 5 year old
Assembly took approx 20 hours for me & my husband (from unloading the boxes & sorting the wood to completion). We built our own home, so we are fairly handy with tools, etc. the directions were overall very good and simple to follow. There are actually a few steps missing toward the end, but not to hard to figure out what to do (sandbox seats for 2nd tower & some additional slats on each side of the slide on tower 2). Which reminds me, we were given a total of 4 sandbox seats - however, 2 seats are too small to use for either tower... We had several left over wood pieces and a TON of left over hardware with no where for them to go, which is better than being short pieces & hardware I suppose, but I read and re-read the directions to be sure I didn't miss anything - I didn't, from what I can tell. But leaves you a little uneasy at first and had to spend additional time trying to re-read all the steps to be sure nothing was missed. The actual size of the unit is a bit smaller than I thought it would be, and smaller than it looks in the picture. My child is 5 and I think he will get at least 3-4 years out of this, but doubtful that a 10+ year old will enjoy because the clearance to get up thru the ladder hole to the fort, and thru the opening from the fort to the bridge. It is a good quality swingset, sturdy and strong, but a bit smaller than it appears. I'd change the age range to 3yr to 8yrs. We put 8" composite edging around the playset in a 27ft x 33ft area. We put 4" of playground mulch inside the area, and put a 60 lumen solar spotlight at each of the four corners to shine light on the set at night-time, so he can play on the set while we have a fire. My son and his friends & cousins really enjoy this set and it looks great in our backyard.
I loved the size and amount of activities, but the picture shows a netting along the clatter bridge, but no netting was included. All pictures of this play set on any of the sites that sell it shows the netting. Some even show solar lights, but neither of these items came with it. That was disappointing because I bought this for my grand-children to enjoy when they are at my house and I liked the idea of the netting for safety reasons. Now I will have to get netting myself or make sure an adult is by the play set for safety reasons. The lights would have been a nice addition. Just make sure that the pictures posted actually show the item as sold.
Damaged Boards and Missing Items from Playset
We have already been in contact directly with Gorilla due to the fact that our Playset has at least four damaged boards with one being unusable. It was also missing several boards along with bolts. Gorilla has agreed to send us any damaged/missing items however they will not compensate us for what we had to purchase at our local hardware store in the interim. Our daughters are devastated that their Playset is not up yet but due to damaged and missing parts it will be at least another couple to few weeks before it will be completed. We are very dissatisfied with the condition of this product and can only hope that after the corrected items are sent to us that it will be worth the $2,800 we spent on it.
