Stream up to 4K Ultra HD & HDR picture quality over your WiFi network with Chromecast Ultra, a streaming device that plugs into your TV?s HDMI port. Chromecast Ultra provides fast, reliable performance with minimal buffering and smoother streaming. Use your iPhone?, iPad?, Android device, or laptop to stream thousands of Cast-enabled apps. With the advances in technology, there are many powerful devices that come in small packages. One such device is the Google Chromecast Ultra Media Streamer in black. The Google Chromecast is a media streaming device that connects to HDR and 4K Ultra HD television through its HDMI port and makes it possible to watch movies, TV shows and other programming from streaming services like Hulu, Netflix, and Vudu as well as individual networks like CBS and NBC. All it takes is an Internet-enabled iOS or Android device, laptop or desktop computer that uses Mac or Windows operating systems or a smart TV. It uses connections like Ethernet, microUSB, and HDMI. It is also possible to use your TV as a complete media center because the Google Chromecast Ultra Media Streamer also gives you access to music stations, video gaming sites and much more. By working with HDR and 4K Ultra HD television, the picture quality provided for the programming from the Google Chromecast Ultra Media Streamer is stunning to look at. The device also provides smooth streaming with little to no buffering. It also eliminates the need for a separate remote because the smartphone, tablet or other device that is supplying the Internet access is also the remote control. It is able to mirror what is on any device and mirror any website, such as social media apps, news website, sports information websites and music sites. For those who also have a Google Home device, you don't even need to use a device to control the content coming from the Google Chromecast Ultra Media Streamer as you can simply issue voice commands to your Google Home device and the streaming device responds in kind.

Easy set up
Plugged the Google Chromecast Ultra into my TVs HDMI port and downloaded the app on my smart phone and was able to cast from my phone right away. Very easy to set up. Watched a Netflix movie and it worked perfectly.

Blue People(Tint)
I purchased two of these for two televisions, a Samsung 55 4K and LG 55 4K. They both experienced the blue people on the first day of use. This has been a ongoing problem with this device since January 2017 and there is still no fix from Google as of yet. At the moment the only way to fix the blue tint is to reboot the device every time it happens. Rather than that device works fine.

Chromecast rocks

i planned on cutting the cord a while back, and chromecast ultra made it easy to do so! i can now stream the usual (HULU, Netlfix, and Amazon), as well as the CW, through my phone or tablet right on to the big tv screen (with a soundbar and subwoofer)! installation and set up is really easy, just follow the prompts after downloading google home. then 5 minutes later, i am streaming my shows and relaxing, without the $60+ per month of TV subcriptions.

Brand new!

This upgrade to chromecast just came out as I was finally getting ready to buy one of these devices. I set it up right away and was streaming a movie from my phone to my TV within moments. This will make it so much easier to watch videos that are more accessible on my phone, especially You Tube, etc. that I may be able to cut my cable bill way down very soon.

Had an original Chromecast upgraded..

Had an original Chromecast. Got a new 55" TV and decided to put the ultra on it. Starts up faster. Stays connected to my wifi all the time when my other Chromecast cuts off sometimes. My only gripe is setting it up initially never works right. Takes a bit to get connected, but once it does it's smooth sailing.

Nice for 4k

I've used the regular Chromecast for a couple of years but since getting a new 4k TV I upgraded this too. Easy to install, easy to setup. Anything on your computer can be on the big screen TV. If you have a 4k TV, this is a must and allows you to take advantage of the 4k content on YouTube.

Perfect product

I love my chromecast, even I can stream. It is saving me over 100 dollars a month by cutting the cord.

Easy to install, works great.

So far so good. I've only been using this a few days but I got Netflix and I've been enjoying it this far. This is simple to install and get up and running.

Not a big GOOGLE fan.... Here's another reason why

Works ok... not to impressed with sometimes lagging movie video using the Cast feature from my Motorola e5 plus to stream Live Sports. The sreaming is smooth on the phone screen but not at the TV even if i place the phone only 3 ft. away.

Difficult to cast from PC to Samsung smart TV. Web content no so bad but PC apps and files not successful.

8. one end is shaped like an HDMI Cable the round end receives data from cell or PC via wifi) plugs into an HDMI port on your TV or receiver. Think of a dongle a a plug in with a receiver built in. Your TV has to have HDMI port. You download software from the Google Play Store do a short set up and your dongle on the TV your cell (must hv WiFi) and PC can be ready in 5 -10 minutes. The Cast Dorset hv any programs installed. It can only be used with Its own software. If you use services like Pandora for music, your cell phone or PC connects to Pandora and this allows you to play " stream" thru your TV speakers and it shows the album cover. Better sound than yr PC or cell speakers. Now if you hv a newer reciever you can plug this into an HDMI slot and your stereo plays the music. The cell/PC send or CAST music and video to your TV. Different content providers that you may get or want to get on yr cell or PC transmit to yr HDMI 1 port into your TV. Your sending video + music from cell/PC to view and listen to on yr stereo or TV. You can "stream" video and audio to your TV and through audio out jacks (if available on yr TV) send sound to Audio in on your reciever. Your cable company has alto of content. ChromeCast has none of its own but go buy one time movies thru the Google Play store the advantage is there are millions of free shows, recordings, podcasts ,done at home programs to choose from. This uses your WIFI +cell or WIFI +PC to find the shows on the Net. This device allows it to be Cast to your TV or stereo. Keep in mind its not perfect by any means. LOTS of minor bugs and programming issues (sorry Google) are being fixed every month. Would I recommend it YES but I'd say be ready to read help forums and do trial and error AND not every show can be cast and you be tied to Chrone as yr browser and you'll use multiple apps (mini programs specific to say Pandora or Spotify. Its been very nice to hv and I look forward to programming updates from Google. Including new content (movies, videos, concerts) Cast ready (there's a symbol you click on to Cast). Its up to you. I don't hv cable but that's not because of this product. Its made not having cable far more enjoyable. Check for HDMI on your TV that's a must have, good WiFi signal, and while you're at it "Audio out" to TV and "Audio in" jacks on yr TV. I just learned the Cast dongle can be plugged into an HDMI port on my new reciever!!! I just got the reciever today! The music sounds great. I ran out of time to figure out the video portion.

1. No!!! Just plug it in your HDMI port set up WIFI and head over to YouTube. It's that simple
by An anonymous customer
2. Yes it can work without cable service. It works straight out the box as long as you have Internet/ WIFI. I've never tried it in my Blue Ray.
by An anonymous customer
3. No additional fees or costs. Install and go.
by FokkerAir
4. It can replace much of cable but it is not going to give you local TV stations. It can take anything from your computer and cast it to the TV.
by FokkerAir
5. You do not pay any more for the device but you must have a paid subscription to Hulu or Netflix to view their programming..
by stvenkng
6. there is no additional or reoccurring fee regarding chrome cast itself, however, if you want to watch a service like netflix or Hulu you will have to have the subscription to that service.

1. No, the Chromcast does require to be connected to a TV.
by CommunityAnswer
2. Both the Chromecast and the Blu-Ray player are output devices, they each require an input port to send a signal to, which is why you cannot plug one into the other. Most TVs have multiple HDMI ports for input for each of these devices. I prefer to have all inputs go to my surround sound AV device so that Chromecast, cable box, DVD/Blu-Ray or HD antenna can be played to surround sound whether TV is used or not.
