Catch the fox is a fun family game. My kids are older than the recommended age and yet they still had lots of fun playing this game. The concept of the game is very easy and only requires the player to know how to count to 2. The object of the game is to capture as many chickens back from the fox. Every player rolls the dice and the dice lands on either one or two this is the amount of chickens that go in the fox's pocket. Every player once they finish rolling and placing their chicken in the foxes pocket then presses down on his head. With each press of the head the pants could come off causing the chickens to fall out and the player collects the chickens. The first player to collect five chickens wins very easy and straightforward. My kids liked when foxes pants, they thought it was hilarious. The kids wanted to play it over and over again. I would highly recommend this as a family game night.

Cute for 4-8 age range
I chose this game to try because I thought it might be a cute game for my 6 year old son.
I was very pleased with it. It helps with counting, patience, learning to take turns, and has an excitement to it because you never know when it's going to pop.
It's rather simple which makes it very easy to play with small children. In the bottom of the fox there's a pair if pants, pull them out, pull them up his waist, put his arms up and then roll the die. The options are only 1 and 2 so that's how many chickens you pick up and put into the pockets of his pants, after that you push down his head and the next person takes their turn. Once the fox drops his pants the chickens go flying and the players can only use one hand to pick up as many chickens as they can. Whoever gets 5 chickens in their own first wins, play another round until someone gets 5.
So overall the concept is very easy to get, the kids get excited at the prospect of not knowing when the chickens are going to go flying, and it makes for a very simple but fun game. The only thing I don't like, is that the chickens come with little red plastic inserts that have to click in, and if you lose one then your chicken isn't complete.
A hilarious adrenaline rush!
Our family cannot recommend this game enough. Our 7 year old loses attention quickly if we are playing a game that takes other players long periods of time to make decisions during their turn. The great part about this game is that each player is actively engaged waiting for the chickens to be set loose and the games are really quick. We played 4 games in 20 minutes.
Out of the box:
You will have individually sealed chickens (21), (4) coupes where the chickens will set, 1 die and stickers to place on the fox and die. I would recommend a storage container or a zip lock baggie to store the chickens, coupes and die together.
Catch the fox allows up to four players. In the game, you take turns rolling a die to see how many chickens you have to remove from your coupe and place in the fox's pants. At the end of each turn, you press the fox's head down once and if the chickens remain and don't get set loose then your turn ends. The fun part about this game is that you never know when the chickens will come flying out of the greedy fox's pants. The pants are stored under the fox's feet. The chickens are small pieces and could potentially be a choking hazard, so I would recommend to children ages 4+.
To make things fair in our family we play by letting adults grab the chickens with their left hand and the kids can use both hands. The first person to fill their coupe wins.
As you can see from the pictures my son had a blast. We had hours of fun racing to grab the chickens.
Catch the Fox is fun for the whole family!
This review is for the Catch the Fox game...So this game is all about the fox who is trying to steal all the chickens. The point is to try to stop the fox so that you can save all the chickens or as many chickens as you can. You roll the dice and that number on the dice tells you how many chickens to put into the fox's pockets. Eventually the weight of the chickens will make the fox lose its pants and when that happens that is when you have to save as many of the chickens as you can and return them to the chicken coop. My son is 8 years old and he found this game hilarious as he is at that age where it's funny to lose your pants lol. I like that it is easy to set up, easy to clean up and very easy to play and self explanatory. It is also good that there are no batteries involved. It is for 2 to 4 players and intended for ages 4 plus. It definitely has kept my son entertained for quite awhile and he now has been asking to play it at least once a week. This would make a great gift for kids for sure or even to just have on hand if you are watching children if you are looking for something to entertain them. The characters and pieces are well made and sturdy and seem like they will not break easily which is a plus and the details on the fox and chickens are realistic and fun. I highly recommend this game for sure as it is fun for the entire family and I do have to admit that when my son asks to play I get kind of excited! haha
This game is very easy to play, perfect for little ones between 2 to 5 years. There is not a lot of board game options for the smaller children, and this game really had our 3 year old laughing. The placement of the decals on the fox and dice are on the last page of the instructions. I thought the instructions would show this under game set up, but it shows under "tip" on the last page. The instructions are easy to read, and follow. The object of the game is to be the first person to fill your coops with 5 chickens. Roll the dice, and put the number of chickens shown on the dice in the pocket of the fox. Continue until the fox's pants drop, and grab as many chickens as you can to fill your coop. Each player can only grab 1 chicken at a time for their coop. The game continues until one player fills their coop.
We were wondering when the Fox's pants were going to drop, and when they did, it was hilarious. Each time after you put the chickens in the fox's pocket, the player pushes the fox's head down. When the pants drop, the chickens really fly off the table as they descend from the pockets. The pants disappear back into the fox. We were thinking the pants flew off the fox, then realized they just slid back into the fox. We were all laughing, and scrambling to get the chickens. We ended up playing this game several times just because it was really silly fun. The fox is super cute. I have attached a couple of pictures with and without pants. He is very well constructed too.
If you are looking for easy, silly, fun for all ages, Catch the Fox is your game.
Super Fun Game!
We got this Catch the Fox game and I have to say it is a lot of fun. My 5 year old boys love it and we have had so much fun playing it together as a family. They want to play it every day. The game is really easy to play and comes with easy to understand instructions. It comes with the fox and stickers to decorate home with, 21 chickens that come in 2 peices that snap together easily, die with stickers, and 4 chicken coop individual game boards. Setting the game up is real quick and simple. All you have to do is raise the fox's arms and turn him upside down and pull the black string sticking out from under him, pull his pants out and pull them up to his waist. Every player gets a coop and deal each player 1 chicken. Put the rest of the chickens into a pile. The instructions suggest the player who makes the best ducking sound goes first which I thought was a lot of fun. Each player then rolls the die and places that number of chickens into the fox's pockets, then push on the fox's hear one time and that ends their turn. The game keeps going until someone pushes the fox's head and his pants fall down causing all the chickens to fall out. All the players have to collect as many chickens as they can one by one and placing them in their chicken coops. The first player to fill up their chicken coop is the winner. The game is a lot of fun and is easy to play. It also doesn't take very long to play so that makes it nice too with younger kids attention span or keeping their interest. Also a great quick game to play if you don't have a lot of time or we like to play several rounds of it and take turns rolling first. Everyone in my family loves this game and we have a great time playing together. The game seems to be made very well and is a really cute concept. I would recommend it to everyone.
Fun game, adorable concept.
Our family had a blast playing this game. This game is cleverly designed. You fill the fox's pants with chickens, you tap on his head, either you keep going our his pants fall down leaving a mad scramble to pick up the chickens. My daughter is twelve and raved about how cute it was. The fox is cute, his pants are cute, the chickens are cute... etc.. Very simple and easy to follow instructions, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Some assembly required
This is a fun game for preschoolers. It's exciting and fast paced. Out of the box we had to apply the stickers to the fox and put the chickens together. The chickens are small. That may be a problem if youe child put things in their mouth. These could be easily swallowed. The game is played by rolling the dice which only has ones and twos on it. You place the chickens in the pockets of the fox then push the fox down once. On the 6th push the fox will lose his pants then the first person to fill their coop wins. The chickens didn't come with a container. We used a small rubbermaid conatiner to contain while playing and storing. If you just leave them on the table they roll, and in the excitement of collecting chickens you caould collect the unplayed chickens. I think a small container is necessary.
Huge hit for all ages!
I receieved catch the fox in the mail and I was a little surprised at first all of the little chickens had to be put together. They were fairly simple to put together and it was quick. After we got them together we got ready to play and there's only enough farm houses for 4 players which worked perfect. The pants on the fox are easy to pull out when your ready to play and they store underneath the fox so you dont worry about another piece of a game to lose. We've been playing this game almost every night for a month now and its still a huge hit for the kids. This is an excellent game for family game nights or even just for kids to play. The game is simple so my 4 & 6 year old played it themselves with their cousins who are the same age. This is a fun simple quick game I would reccommend to families or just the kids!
Simple, But Fun
It was funny, when this game was delivered to me, my 6 and 4 year old daughters screamed with excitement. They said they have been wanting this game, yet I had never heard of it, prior. The game is easy to set up and the directions are simple and easy to follow. The game is not complex and little kids will love it, but older ones will find it boring. We played this, as a family, for over an hour and created fun variations, to play.
