Beautiful boot, odd proportions

I fell in love with these boots based on photos and in person they are visibly just as lovely. The fit, however, is disproportionate. I have a short, wide, foot with high arches and a muscular calf not to mention I'm only 5 ft. Boots are tough to find but I've figured out I wear a kid's 3. I expect to need to stretch the boots over the top of my foot and then because the shaft of a kid's boot is shorter than a ladies' boot, the calf fits right. Theses boots were the opposite. The boot throat (over the top of my foot) fit fine out of the box but the shaft opening is so narrow I had to use the plastic bag trick and turn my foot slightly sideways for my heel to clear the opening. I measured and the circumference is about 2" narrower than my Justins and Ariats in the same children's size. Because the boots are stunning and stitching is good, I am keeping them. I can't speak to comfort yet because I'm still breaking them in.
