Never thought about a plastic mailbox before but this is a great idea. It won't rust. The door opens and closes easily and there is a lip around it so when it rains, water won't get in. Mounting instructions are on the box. So far, so good, it's going up on our post!

Nice and won't rust!
Nice looking, but sturdy
This mailbox looks nice sitting by our driveway on the county road. We put an addition to the top of the mailbox to put our address on for the mail carrier. It seems to be made of a nice sturdy material that should withstand the weather conditions we experience here and continue to look attractive.
Sturdy and won't rust.
The Gibraltar Mailbox is made of a thick plastic. The door stays latched when you close it. You need to buy a mounting bracket/board and post for it separately. The red flag attached to the mailbox also stays in place until it is moved. The mailbox is large and deep enough to hold long envelopes and small boxes. The door of the mailbox has an etched out rectangle for you to be able to include your name or house number (those also sold separate). I would definitely recommend as it feels sturdy and will not rust out like metal mailboxes do.
Sturdy & Durable Mailbox
The Gibraltar Mailboxes Black Plastic Mailbox is your standard, classic-looking mailbox. The product features a clean design incorporating some refinements. The mailbox is made in the USA and comes fully assembled with a little red flag on the side. The flag is very noticeable, which makes for easy visibility for the postman. It is also easy to put up and push down. The flag is well built and does not show any signs of it being flimsy. The mailbox is easily able to fit a decent about of stuff inside of it, like small boxes, magazines, and even padded envelopes in addition to your daily mail. The product is about 3 pounds, 7.9 inches wide, and 19.39 inches long. The mailbox is made of sturdy plastic that is doubled-walled, providing extra protection, durability, and seems like it could withstand a baseball bat. It is also rust- proof! The mailbox has a black finish that inhibits ultraviolet rays. This feature is perfect if you mailbox gets a lot of exposure to the sun! I believe this mailbox is going to last a long time. Overall, this is a great mailbox that I would highly recommend, especially for such a great price!
Large Sturdy Mailbox!
This is a good size mailbox. It appears very sturdy. I like that it's plastic and can't rust. It comes fully assembled and the holes are pre-drilled for easy installation. It does not include any mounting hardware which is a small inconvenience. It says it is finished with a UV inhibitor to protect from the sun, so only time will tell how it will hold up to the Southern California heat and sun. There are mounting instructions included on the outside of the packaging, so don't toss the box away. I am concerned over use and time that the door will not stay shut, since there is no latch. The only thing holding the door closed is a very thin rim of plastic. There is a flag on the side to alert the postman of outgoing mail. It is attached very well and stays up securely until it is manually put down. Overall it's a nice sturdy mailbox and time will tell if it holds up as well as the metal one I had.
Bigger mailbox fits bigger packages.
The thing I like the most about this mailbox is the shape and size, it is larger which allows for smaller package deliveries to be left in your mailbox rather than sitting on your porch or outside of the mailbox. I also like that it is plastic and is virtually maintenance free. The plastic is not super thick and can almost seem "flimsy" if you don't secure the back end of the box to something to make it more sturdy. My situation is a little different in that instead of having a mailbox attached to our house we have it attached to a movable post along side of our house so we needed to secure it a little more than normal. The opening is nice and wide to accommodate larger packages. Overall I think this will be a nice sturdy mailbox that will last for many years.
Tough plastic box. Easy to mount on 6" post/board
I received this black plastic mailbox today to replace my old rusted metal one that wouldnt close anymore.
This was pretty heavy duty nylon plastic, rust-proof, and looks like she last awhile so i decided to mount it in my knew fence. Its mounted to a 2"×6"×8" long board mounted to a cross bracket between two 4x4"s... It seems like a tough unit, and the flag on the side locks into place alot better than the old metal one did. So i'm counting on many years of use in the future.
An Adequate Mailbox...
I received the "Gibraltar Mailbox" to review for the Sparks Program and upon inspecting it, I have mixed emotions.
First of all, it is a really good looking box for mail and packages.
I received the "Stalwart" version. It is equipped with a red flag and weighs a total of 3 lbs.
Overall dimensions are 19.39 inches by 7.9 inches.
It is made from a sturdy plastic and is very lightweight.
I question it's durability in certain types of weather.
The mailbox can be easily mounted on a post and is a traditional-looking mailbox. Post mounting brackets and hardware is sold separately.
I just can't give it a higher ranking than three star because I don't think it could withstand everyday use like a metal box.
A positive of this mailbox is the space designed on the door for aligning address numbers and the plastic red flag that can be used to alert the mailman of outgoing mail or packages.
The door opens easily and smoothly as well.
A good box but not exceptional...
Spend more money
I recieved this item to review and honestly I decided not to put it up and use it after taking it out of the box and inspecting it. This is very cheaply made it reminds me of how a cheap plastic wastebasket is constructed. My old mail box might be worn looking but atleast it is sturdy. This mailbox does not seem like it will stand up to being a long use mailbox. It is very thin plastic and flexible like it will crack very easily which isn't a good thing in mailboxes. I definitely do not recommend this particular mailbox I recommend you spend more money on a better model!
Flimsy would be an understatement
Well, as a reviewer I'm going to do something I don't often have to do. No way can I give this mailbox more than 1 star. I expected more of a heavy duty plastic than this. It's so flimsy that the door can fall open with a light touch. Imagine rain and wind soaking your mail. The flag will surely wear out its stop at the upright position and just fall down. One thing which is frustrating about mailbox suppliers, they don't supply the mounting frame. So, no matter what you are installing it to, you need to buy another piece. Sorry, but I wouldn't even use this as an emergency backup
