  • A. A: I am 5"5" and this bike keeps both my feet flat on the ground and I feel in control/secure than most other bikes sold at WM. Tried many WM Schwinns and was surprised Genesis Terra with 700c wheels (has smaller frame height-wise), much lower than aluminum mountains, cruisers & hybrids also sold at WM. Bike net weight 32-33 lbs(same weight as Schwinn Aluminum Comp 26") with the cargo rack(weights 3.5 lbs) removed. Like you, thought the 700c wheels would make it higher -- this is lower! Handlebars are upright though 1 inch higher would have been better and .5 to 1 inch shorter arms-length would be more comfy (listen Bike Designers!)...definitely more comfy than my old mountain (did not like being hunched-over) and other heavier/bulkier hybrids. Great value for $179, cost less than any other hybrids/Schwinns...700c wheels makes for smoother and easier pedaling. May be the lightest womens bike(non-carbon) sold at WM for the price (be nice if it weight bit less and under 30 lbs though. Again Schwinn Designers! * lighter kick-stand (or remove) * Shimano gear shifters -- instead of handle-bar rotating twisters type this has * .5 inch closer brakes reach to the handle bars would be easier -- seems made for bigger-mens hands, not womens? * 1" higher/more upright handle bars * seat: great skinny-front for women, need bit more back-saddle to hold our bums. :) * bit lighter frame or metal parts/screws or pedals? Just got my bike out of the store -- hoping slight adjustments will make it fit me better. Hope this helps all... :)

  • A. yes ! You should be able to stand over top bar with feet flat on ground and lift bike to your crotch about an inch. This determines bike height for your size

So far I've rode this bike for short 1mile trips to the grocery store and one long 16mile trip to a local nature park. I think this is pretty decent overall. I had it assembled at walmart for free-everything works but the back breaks were not adjusted properly so they rubbing against the rim causing squeaking sounds(I fixed this myself) and there is definitely something wrong with the gears/shifts(it makes noise whenever either is switched). Im sure i could take it a bike shop and get the gears working more cleanly but I havent got around to it yet, when I rode on the long 16 mile one way trip i got there in about an hour and 20 mins which I think is decent but I will mention that I got passed by an elderly couple on more "high end" bikes but for $179 you really cant expect that type of"tour de france" bike. For what it is I think it does it's job well. Its light weight so I can haul it upstairs with out too much effort. The bike also looks better in person then it does in the picture, also after making adjustments I found the bike to be decently comfortable-for reference I am 5'10, the seat is fine for short rides but I found it became very uncomfortable on the longer ride.

This is my first hybrid bike, before I had a cruiser. I needed something lighter and faster so I went for this hybrid. I like that the handle bars are a bit higher than on standard road bike. I use this bike to go around campus, bike home, and go to work. I've been using it daily since I got it. I'm still getting use to shifting properly and efficiently. My campus has hills that can be treacherous but I'm learning how to go up them. I'm not sure of the exact weight but I can easily lift it on and off the bike rack on the bus I take to school. I find I can cruise around campus quite quickly and I feel confident on it. I'm 5'2" and at first I felt the bike was too large but its just due to the tires. If you are a similar build-don't worry you get use to it and it isn't a problem. I had it shipped to store but did not have it assembled there. The box said it should come with an allen wrench but mine was missing. I suggest picking up a set (I got a fold able one I keep in my bag) since I found that the 5mm wrench that is used throughout the bike components does not fit the socket for the stem adjustment (need a larger one). I will probably upgrade the tires and brakes on this bike once I have the time to do some research. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and recommend it as a solid option. It looks very nice too-I removed the stickers off of the bike to give it a cleaner look. I also attached the photo trying to show the color of the bike. It is a purple/blue duo-chrome, its a nice color-bright but not garish.

This is the third hybrid bike I've purchased from Walmart and both the bike and the experience were the best so far. The first 2 bikes I bought were right off the floor, which I will never do again. The first time there was a problem with the brakes. The second bike (which I purchased about 2 years ago) was shoddily thrown together, with loose bearings, flat tires, and the pedals on upside-down. I ended up having to take it somewhere else and paid to have it re-assembled. Things must have changed, however, because when I spoke with the Sporting Goods department at my local store before purchasing this bike, I was assured that someone that was actually trained in bike assembly puts them together. I order the bike, had it shipped Site to Store, and was able to have it assembled for free. It took a few days since the bike assembler at my local store only works part-time, but it was well worth the wait. The bike was in perfect working order--I rode it right out of the store! About the bike itself, as someone else commented, it's a vibrant shade of blue, NOT purple, like it appears in the picture. Tire widths tend to vary on hybrids; these are on the thin side. It has what looks like a speedometer on the handlebars, but all it does is show you what gear you're in. Also the seat SUCKS, haha. Very thin and narrow, definitely not good if you're just starting to bike or have some extra junk in your trunk. Seats/covers are very inexpensive and a matter of personal preference, though, so I wouldn't down-rank the bike because of this. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with it.

I bought this bike to commute to work. Whenh I was looking for a bike I knew I wanted a bike that sat me upright and was light enough to carry over rail tracks. This biie not only sits me upright but it is the lightest bike I found for the money. The price point is excellent and this 21 gear bike is easy to assemble and great to ride. I like the hybrid tires that allow me to ride on street and also dirt with ease.

This bike is fantastic. I went to my local Wal-mart and tried out 2 different Schwinn 700c bikes and they could not compare to the Genesis bike. This bike has the twist gear shifters, quick release wheel, a fantastic smooth ride and is also very light weight (around 33 LBS). I feel as light as a feather. I haven't been on a bike in many years but I am so ready for this experience. Online the bike was $179 but in the store it was reduced and is closing out at $149. This was a no brainer. If you want a bike that is sporty, cute and top of the line in quality and value go on and get the Genesis. You will not be disappointed. I am so happy.
