The camera seems to do what I wanted but until I have a chance to see large print it will be inconclusive. It should cost far more that it does as it seems to be more solid and professional like and easy to handle. It does take some effort to get use to all the various setting etc. Unlike a film camera whcih has far less settings to worry about.
I have already recomended it to others and in fact show it off when ever I get a chance.I should have been one of GE's sales persons.
The lense seems sharp and the construction is solid.
I sold 2 Nikon Photomic models and other equipment to get some money , $140.00 to buy a reasonable camera. The Kodak Z900 series and the Fuji 2500 series didn't see to fit the bill. Glad I got this GE X5. If anyone gets this camera. Enjoy.
The building is taken at 15x optical plus the full Digital zoom setting. It was reduced for transmission. The quality should be there though ?
The Hawk is taken at 15x on the zoom at about 1/1600 on the shutter.
I have had this camera for about 6 months now. At the time, I could not afford a DSLR, but wanted something "close to it". This camera, for the price, completely EXCEEDED my expectations. Better than the Kodak, Samsung and Canon point and shoots I have used before. Takes good MACRO photos, and portrait photos...takes good fully zoomed photos....you just cant go wrong with it! The options are endless on this device....it takes some time to get used to everything, and know how to work the camera to its fullest potential...but if one properly knows how to use it, and all of its options....there is no disappointment.
Below I have attached a photo of a water drop falling into a glass of water with food coloring in it...( really neat "action" shot that i took), and the other is a beautiful sunset that I captured.
Love this Camera. You cannot beat the price. Looked at several camera and brought the Olympus 30x digital and returned to store. If you just want to take pictures and be able to zoom in and out, then this is the camera for you. The pictures are great. have taken about 300 photo's with this camera and only 2 have been blurry. The rest have been great. Some outdoor shots have looked amazing. Have not taken alot of indoor shots yet. But the few I have are great. Simple to use. Would suggest you read the manual first. The batteries that came with it are what I still have.
I recieved my GE X5 a few weeks ago, and have no issues to report. The camera fits well in my hand, and all the controls are easy to reach and opperate. The features are excelent, though I would recomend reading the user manual completely before using this camera. Photo quality is excelent, and after mastering the camera features blurring has not been a problem. The X5 reminds me a lot of the Fujifilm digital cameras I have owned in the past, but at a lot better price!
When my point and shoot died I started doing research on cameras. I really wanted a DSLR, but can not afford one, and I didn't want to just settle for another crummy point and shoot. I found this on the Sears website, so I started checking around to see who all had it. I read ALL the reviews I could find on this camera, and after lots of comparing I chose this camera. I am SOOO glad I did. It takes amazing pics. I like using the manual settings better than the auto setting. I feel my pics turn out better when I am more in control. I waited to write a review until after I had my pics printed out, just to make sure they printed out looking as good as they do on the computer, and they turned out even better. The tree pic was taken after dark. I couldn't even see it through the viewfinder. I am so pleased w/ this camera. If you are expecting it to match up or compare w/ a DSLR, then you are being unrealistic, but if you want something better than a little point and shoot for about the same price, I would highly recommend this camera.
I bought this camera in December because my old camera stopped working this camera has a great zoom great picture quality features and not to bad for recording some video too my only complaint is the auto focus sometimes does not quite focus to the best ability other than that no problems or complaints
I have only had this camera for a couple of weeks and have not gotten to use it a whole lot. The pics I have taken so far are really clear and look so much better than my old camera's pictures (that camera was more expensive) I have not completely figured everything out on the camera I do however wish that the manual explained things better. (this is why I rated it with a 4 and not a 5) I hope that the camera continues to perform as well in the future as it does right now. Both of my daughters like the camera alot and have both requested one for Christmas. I am very satisfied and as always Walmart is wonderful with there fast shipping.
I am very happy with this camera. I was a little concerned since it was not a well known camera. It takes good long distance pictures as well as close. Would recommend this camera. The pictures were of my neighbor's house taken from my patio.
Purchased this product solely on the specs, price, and some professional reviews of the product. Nice looking camera, the zoom was GREAT.....but noticed is was shaky really close up?? Took some shots and NONE of them were clear at full zoom......
Next I took this to my daughters basketball game, put the camera in sports mode and NONE of the shots were clear during their warm-ups. She had to be standing still and the camera had to not be moving AT ALL!!
Exchanged the camera for a Kodak Z915 w/ 10x optical zoom and 10MP, EXCELLENT camera, and picture quality is gorgeous!!
I do NOT recommend purchasing this product.
