I bought my Frigidaire 50 pint high humidity dehumidifier after already owning a 30 pint. I researched extensively and found that there was nothing comparable in its class. Before the Frigidaire 50 there were times the house sat at over 70% humidity even with the AC running. we live in South Texas in a 1700 square-foot newer house with high ceilings and very good efficiency. Humidity would always find its way in. Now I'm pleased to say that we sit comfortably at under 50% humidity as our new normal. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Amazingly priced dehumidifier
This dehumidifier has been amazing at solving the issue we have with poor insulation in our condo. It's not very loud and works very efficiently. A couple of things to note, if the bucket is full, the machine will beep a couple of times and then just stay on, so that's an unfortunate downside, still a good product.
This unit took over a gallon of water out of my basemen the first day. I have a smaller unit that seemed to be running a lot. This dehumidifier simply took over the job. It’s powerful and it’s quiet and it is amazing. It got rid of my basement smell within hours. Great unit. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
This is my second one. First one I bought maybe five- six years ago and its still working and using it everyday. Bought a second because the first started leaking but realized it was because the water spout that goes into the tank had junk built up in it and was running out through the side. Needed a second one anyways living in Washington. Definitely cuts down on mold growth, especially during the winter.. If the heater is on, it even blows out warm air which is nice in the colder months and don't need to have the heater cranked. If your house is cold, it will blow cold air, so turn a heater on and it will get warm. With both now running I am still filling both a day. When I don't have them on for a day I can really tell the difference and feel the moisture in the house and can smell the moisture. I run mine on high and set to a 35humidity level and when it gets to that number it turns off until it raises. At night I shut it off and by morning it tells my the humidity level is back up to 90 which is way to high for my liking.. I don't have dry skin or anything by having it that low. I also put my second one in the bathroom now and I haven't noticed any mold since which is really nice and it's also warm in there . The house I am renting is super old and has no insulation.
We would buy again!!
Our house has a really bad moisture problem. We plugged the dehumidifier in and within 12 hours the bucket was full! The first 3 days we had to dump the bucket every 12 hours now it's about once a day. We've noticed the musty smell is also gone when we are using the machine. Overall I would most definitely recommended to anyone needing a dehumidifier! In fact we plan to buy a second one for the back of the house!
It works even better than we'd hoped!
This unit is small enough not to get in the way, as attractive as dehumidifiers get, extremely effective and easy to use. It's hard to roll on the rollers without it tipping over (at least for me, and granted, I'm not very coordinated and was rolling it on thick carpet) so I'd recommend rolling it empty. It took the first basement room I put it in from 69% humidity to 49% in a day --- according to the indoor/outdoor thermometer thing we have set up down there. It's controlling the humidity in a fairly large space filled with furniture and totes very well, from day 1. An added benefit is that it wasn't included in that massive recall that was announced a few days after we got it! I researched dehumidifiers thoroughly before purchasing, considering all the aspects. The reviews did say that it was noisy, but there are 2 speeds and if you need to be in the area, running it on Low greatly reduces that problem. And, it's white noise, not like it's clanking or whistling!
I purchased this item based on online reviews of several dehumidifiers. This is my first dehumidifier so I have nothing to compare to. Frigidaire does, however, have a very good reputation in the appliance world. The unit seems very effective at lowering room humidity and is relatively quiet on the high fan setting. It is not annoying to be in the room while the dehumidifier is running…and I am very sensitive to “noise”. I may update this review at some point if I note either positive or negative points after I've had the unit for a while.
removes moisture with a bit of noise
This unit does a good job of removing moisture. It is not as quiet as Id hoped, based on other reviews. I guess low noise is relative to what you are use to. Like having a "quiet" lawnmower. I just turn it off when it bugs me. Also, once it has reached the set humidity level, it turns itself off. That helps as well. I attached a hose to go directly to drain, so no concerns about emptying the bucket.
Disappointment w/ return of damaged dehumidifier.
I am unable to rate this product because it arrived with a banged up box and the dehumidifier was damaged. Getting a refund was more difficult than I expected since it wasn't actually purchased through walmart, it was a marketplace item. My hopes were that another unit could be mailed to be after returning to the store. However, They needed to return the unit, then wait for my refund so I had the money to re-purchase the dehumidifier. My one star rating is not for the product since I was never able to use it. This one star rating is for how the logistics of the transition was handled. I don't plan on shopping at walmart again. I don't recommend shopping online with "marketplace" items.
