For years the growth and dynamics of reggae music has been stagnated due lack of development of new artistes. Producers, distributors and record companies in reggae have continued to demand the works from the same group of artiste year in year out as these already established artistes are deemed to be more â€-saleable’ or â€-sellable’. Never questioning the fact that some of these artiste continue to put out the same type of lyrics/content in their material or the fact that when a new artiste is â€-allowed’ to emerge on the scene, the public flocks to this fresh voice. On average only about one new artiste emerge from the shores of Jamaica each year to gain worldwide attention, while an abundance of talent dwells within the Island. In 2004 it was I-Wayne, in 2005 it was Gyptian. The public deserves a chance to hear more voices with the talent of Gyptian and I-Wayne before they become main-stream. Not one to follow the norm, B&M Records has decided to create an avenue for some of these FRESH VOICES to be heard by you music lovers. The result is the CD series Fresh Voices, BIG Songs. Volume 1 in the series, due to hit store in June/July 2006, will premier the amazing vocals of Kahnahkah Harmony, one of Jamaica’s’ and reggaes best kept secrets. After a cameo appearance on I-Wayne’s debut album Lava Ground on the track Burning Rome, Harmony heralded his coming with the song Protect the Children, which has received critical acclaim by radio DJ’s and fans across the world. His follow up single Better to Make life (on the Grassroots rhythm) has added power to the claim of the critic who said â€-the future of reggae is in good hands with artiste Harmony emerging’. New World Order has given credence to reggae being truly â€-message music’ and the message on this one is clear though some may view as controversial. Also featured o this CD is an amazing remake of the big hit â€-Serious Times’ that catapulted Gyptian into the lime light. One of many racks the make this CD a must have. Other FRESH VOICES featured on the debut CD are Marko Bran, Mitch (formerly of ARP), Fire Star, Innibal, 3D, MBC, Anjellee, Guidance and Kemora, among others. The artistes appear predominantly on the HIGH RISE rhythm, a recently concluded project of B&M records, but the CD will feature tracks from the GRASSROOTS RHYTHM and THE TEXAS RANGER RHYTHM among others.
