    Burns well!
Pleasantly surprised with this lamp. Burns well and the chimney sits securely in the prongs and does not wiggle. The base is pretty and sat well/did not rock on the table. Doesn't throw a ton of light but would be good for decoration or a small room during a power outage....still better than most candles in that instance!

For casual use, not for emergency lighting
I can't really complain a whole lot considering it's a $7 lamp. It's OK for decorative & casual use, but if you want something that will give you decent light in an emergency power outage, get something better. This lamp is very cheaply made and does not give off much light, barely as much as one candle, if that. Using good quality odorless, smokeless oil, and with a properly trimmed wick, if you turn it up at all, it burns brighter for a few seconds, then quickly decreases in brightness as the oil in the wick burns out quickly. Then the wick itself starts to burn. Better off not turning it up. Who knows, maybe with a better quality replacement wick it would function better. I wouldn't get another one.

    FloraSense Glass Oil Lamp, Clear

    Verified purchase

Availability was great. The same store we go to did not have it on the shelves yet, but after placing the order the back room where they keep the products had some on hand. So it was available almost instantly which was impressive. It is beautiful and works perfectly. I also recommend buying some extra wicks for it so you have them on hand when needed.

I was pleased with my purchase

    Verified purchase

I felt that my purchase of lamps was priced reasonably. The shape of the oil holder was easy enough for a delicate woman's hands to hold, and still strong structure to keep oil protected. I felt that the tunnel was perhaps too wide at the base, yet it was not enough so to worry me. I appreciated the speed in which I was able to receive it and felt happy with the service I received at the mullan rd Walmart store. They gave me superb service and I was in and out in less than ten minutes.

Good lamps but the shades are not thick like they used to be. They are very thin and break very easily.

4 out of 4 in store were damaged and unusable.

I saw this online and read some bad reviews so I went to store to pick one out in person. There were 4 available-- and every single one had a bad issue! 1 had a cracked bottom- 2 had such poorly / cheaply made metal wick assemblies that looked impossible to fix- 1 had the wick turning stem completely broken off and missing! I couldn't make 1 working lamp with all 4 as parts! I'd suggest an antique store with an old well made lamp and add a new wick. I actually took ALL 4 to customer service-- the next day ALL 4 [ the same damaged ones!] had been put back on the shelf for the next customer to get fleeced. Buyer be cautious and thoroughly check all items before purchase - even boxed items get returned and are often just put back on shelves.

    1. I would say they hold about 2 1/2 cups. Not a overall good product.

    2. About 1 cup maybe 2 I didn't measure but it is about what most oil lamp take.

    3. The lamp size does depend one the amount. I would say that it generally holds between one pint to one quart of oil. For me, I can fill two and one half lamps (of various sizes) with a two quart size.

    5. Not much.... I find old lamps at yard sales, etc that have large resivors and just buy these lamps for the parts that are missing.

    1. Have no idea never have tried it for oil other than what is called for. Maybe if in extrem emergancy I might try it but in the long run it would be to expensive.

    2. You may be able to use vegetable oil but you cannot use olive oil. Not only would olive oil burn poorly and throw very little light (if it would even light at all), but olive oil has a very low smoke point (which is why it isn't used for frying) and would create A LOT of soot and smoke making it horrible for indoor use of any kind. As for the vegetable oil, I wouldn't recommend it for similar reasons as olive oil (relatively low smoke point as compared to real lamp oil, burns poorly, throws little light), but I know in emergency situations it can work. If at all possible I would avoid using anything other than quality unscented indoor-safe lamp oil or clean-burning isopropyl alcohol (70% or above should not give off carbon monoxide if wick is kept properly trimmed and at correct height). Good luck :)

    3. It will not work well. The oil is too viscous and won't travel up the wick fast enough. Some people have gotten a flame from that type of fuel, but it burns up the wick, makes a lot of soot, and doesn't put off a lot of light.

    4. Kerosene is the best for the long run because it's usually available from distributors for under $4 a gallon. It's $14 a gallon from hardware stores and the lamp oil that the Dollar General stores carry is about $10 per gallon. Diesel fuel will work but it smokes too much for indoor use.

    1. I believe any oil lamp can burn kerosene it's just oil lamp oil burns cleaner and doesn't stink, I have even heard of someone using I think olive oil too in an extreme emergancy but don't honestly know how well it works plus it could be expensive if you do that, I have never tried it you have use your own discression.

    2. I have never burned Kerosene in mine, I have heard of others burning vegetable oil in it, and scented oils. If you are interested in trying the kerosene, it would be wise to begin outside and away from burnable materials. One thing I myself might be worried about first is the scent of kerosene.

    4. Yes it can. That's the fuel that these lamps were designed for. It may be a little stinky for indoor use, but people did it for the 3/4 of a century so it must not be too bad. Don't use anything with a higher flashpoint though, such as gasoline, naptha, or alcohol.

    5. It will burn pretty much any oil. even vegetable oil, probably motor oil if it weren't so much harder to light, smelly, and smoky. You can use refill oil for a Tiki Torch. However, pure paraffin oil is best because it doesn't smoke up the chimney so badly, and is either scent-free or scented versions can be purchased. Most places that sell lamp oil at all will sell "smoke-free scent-free" lamp oil.
