I am making a compost bin from scratch and I needed organic material to start the process and this is my first choice, I would like to add that I have used this for mice / my chub rocks in the past and it was the healthiest choice and back then had I known about composting I would have used their used bedding in my compost bin .. Utilize this bedding for my snakes and for the mice I breed. It is reasonably priced, maintains order control longer and is not harmful to either species it is used for as bedding. Price is much better then most competitors and although substrate is not finely cut, it works fine in both tanks.
