I ordered this item and upon arrival it did not open with the combination or emergency key backup. I called the manufacturer and was told that it may have been a defect from shipping. The company explained to me that it sounded as though a/the soleniod was defective and to return it to the store. My concern was/is that if I decided to purchase this item and once it's mounted if the solenoid was to fail, what then? There were no fail safe way to opening to this unit if this was to happen again.

    Wall safe

Quality leaves something to be desired, however, it will do the job. Plastic knob cover for emergency key entry was broken and I have to call the manufacturer for replacement, an annoyance. Delivery from Walmart was prompt.

    Lacking proper screws and hardware

I wanted to put in a 2x6 wall to get the maximum out of the safe. I found the studs, used my level to mark the opening, & removed the drywall all in 10 min. Then the real fun started, I needed to adjust the back of the safe. The screws are too long, so I used 1 washer on each nut but really needed two. Back is very thin with holes that open up when extended, and dont even get me talking about the shelves. They also recomend that you use the wood screws that come with (which are half as long as they should be) and install in the holes provided in the front of the safe. In doing so, what stops someone from simply removing the screws and the safe in a matter of seconds. Price is ok for what you get, but I would rather pay another $50 for the correct size screws, lags for the studs, and steel for the back. As it sets, someone could break out the drywall on the other side and use a pair of tin snips to cut open the back of the safe.

    good over all

Nice heavy gauge product.Install was about an hour and a half with clean up.We did have to put a 1x4 on the non hinge side against the stud in the wall so the left outside face screws had something other than Sheetrock to bite into. Should be a way to turn off sound when you push buttons.I went in and unsoldered it no beeps now for the bad guy! Could have had better screws, threw theirs away! Overall a very good product that should work for years.

    DO NOT BUY THIS SAFE

DO NOT BUY THIS SAFE. THE LOCK WILL NOT LOCK!!! To open the safe without using a code, pushing "in" on the handle and then pulling hard on the handle with disengages the locking mechanism and the Door will open without any codes. Great safe!!!!

    Damaged

Package arrived in box that was damaged. After opening box found loose hardware and a broken internal part. Returned immediately to Walmart. Will not attempt to repurchase.

    Low quailty control

Safe arrived in timely fashion but after installing found the locking mechanism was broken. After you "close" the unit the locking deadbolts are to short to secure it properly allowing you to jimmy it open. Customer service is less than helpfull (at Honeywell)requiring us to uninstall it, ship back at OUR cost and wait for a replacemnt. Other than that I agree with others. Keypad seems easy to program but safe walls are thin and easily compromised. Use it to keep kids out but anyone else can get in without much effort.

    Great value

No wall safe is going to stop a determined burglar, however, this unit has a heavy protective door with double bolts that should serve as a strong deterrent. The instructions required some presumption (6 pre-drilled installation holes are also the shelf adjustment guides). If you have the courage to cut a hole in your wall, the rest is easy. This unit was purchased for $40.00 less than the next closest seller and came with free delivery allowing 4-6 weeks. It arrived in 4 days.

    Very good safe

Safe arrived in very good condition. Very easy to install. I liked that you are able to adjust the depth. I was mounting the safe behind a picture and liked that the door and handle are recessed. I used 1/4 x 2" lag bolts to secure to the wall studs. The only thing I added was that I carpeted the shelves and the back of the safe. It will hold a firearm upright and also keep it from getting scratched up. Overall a very good safe and yes I would recommend this safe to others

Good for the price, not going to stop pro though.

I bought 2 of these safes. They are good quality for what they are intended for. Would not stop professional thief from breaking into them but probably would stop local nutcase from getting in. Easiest way to defeat is through the back, but they would have to either cut the safe out of the wall or break into the wall from the back side. Mine are hidden behind pictures, but they also recommend inside a closet.
