Its been many years since the last installment of the legendary, "Final Fantasy", series. All I can say is, it was definitely worth the wait! First, let's talk graphics. The cinematics are as usual, amazing. However, the interesting is that it is very difficult to tell what is cinematics and what is in game graphics. THAT'S IMPRESSIVE! From a gameplay perspective, the battle system has completely overhauled; resulting in fast paced action oriented fights, that never get boring. Characters develop and level up differently than ever before by way of the Crystarium, a variation of the sphere grid from FINAL FANTASY 10. Buy the PS3 version of this title over the XBOX360, because the graphics are actually better on the PS3 version of the game. So whether you're a FF fan or a newcomer to the series, this game definitely doesn't dissapoint. Absolutely a MUST BUY!!!

I really don't think you'll be disappointed if you buy this game & already love the Final Fantasy series. The graphics are absolutely stunning & the cut scenes are action packed. I was worried before I got the game that I would hate the battle system, like I did in FFX-2.. ugh. BUT, I love it. I think it's a good change for the game. I don't really like that you only control one character at a time, although I understand with this battle system that would be a ridiculous option. The only other thing I am a little disappointed about is the dialect of the game. It's just about the lamest thing I've ever had to listen to in my life. The further I get into the story, the more I like it... or maybe I've just gotten used to the cheesey one-liners & the fact that NO ONE finishes his or her sentences.. which is so annoying. Overall, I love the story they've got going on & I can't wait to finish it. I'm really enjoying it so far.

This game is sick!!!! As always with the final fantasy games, the graphics are stunning. This game however is the best that I have seen in any game I have played, and I've been a gamer since before FFVII. The story is easy to follow and gives you a datalog that you can look up in case you forget what you have been doing. The level up system is different, and the fighting system is similar but completely streamlined. I am about fifteen hours in and I am completeyl impressed. The only reason that I am not playing now is because I need to have a job, but believe me when I tell you that the idea of calling in sick crossed my mind. I am very glad I bought this game.

Final fantasy 13 is becoming a great game known to everyone nearby. I myself have obtained a copy of this game and was amazed at the first sight of the graphics. The details are so fine, so clear. Theres a good deal of comedy in it, but also some scenes that hit rather quickly. the battle sequences are different, which gives it a twist on how final fantasy members outlook on the series will appear. the ways of upgrades, stats, they're similar in some ways to other final fantasy games, but have its own direction based on Final Fantasy 13 itself. Overall, this game is great, and I would suggest that anyone who is a final fantasy fan, or just looking to try somthing new, to get this game and experience it for yourself.

Continues in Classic Final Fantasy Tradition

This game is the 13th installment in the Final Fantasy series. All of the games previous installments have led the way with wonderful story lines, captivating characters and great game play. This title is no exception to those instances. The new battle system takes a couple of steps backwards to previous installments and leads a more classical feeling to the games battle system. This game may not lead a "traditional" Final Fantasy ideal, but the absence of pre-rendered backgrounds; and better graphics make it hard to get the same feeling. Lighting, the main character is designed to be the female counterpart of Cloud from Final Fantasy VII; it certainly is nice to know that many re-appearing elements (Cactulars, Chocobos, and Spell names) still present themselves in game play!

successfully reinventing the wheel--version 13

How does Square Enix keep doing it? 13 games, 13 different battle systems, 13 resounding successes. I doubt anyone with series experience didn't go into this one a bit hesitant (very linear a-la Final Fantasy X? Only control one character in battle?), but if you aren't converted by 30 minutes in I don't understand your gaming preferences :) The presentation is really top notch--characters are just plain awesome. Not a bad one in the bunch--including Vanille, who grows on you. The story is a lot of fun. Cocoon (main floating super-city) is a really cool environment, and likewise Gran Pulse (world below) is equally awesome. The game has been streamlined in a lot of great ways--gone is the 20 second menu-jump to heal characters to full after battle. Gone is the unending wall of mostly-forgettable text spat by NPCs in every town. FF X/XII's minimap design has been overhauled with a lot more helpful info. Levelling is akin to FF X's sphere grid with its own unique twist. It's a great setting with a host of great gameplay systems supporting it. Obviously the main system is the battle system. As noted--you only control your main character, with the sub-chars acting on their own. Given the frantic battle pace, this is truly the only way they could work, as the turn guage fills quickly and choosing between successions of single-enemy attacks, attacks that strike all enemies in range, and quick use of items between attack-turns is truly a full-time job with a single character. The support chars can be commanded to perform different tasks (focused towards healing, focused towards series of weaker combo-guage-building attacks, focused towards poisoning/silencing enemies, etc.) and on the whole the battle sytem is a resounding success. To make things even better, even the 360ers get a chance to experience this game! How great is that? Everyone wins (well--except that the 360 version runs at a lower resolution) this generation! It's a good time to like videogames.

Graphic: 8/10 Pro: Excellent cutscenes, flawless character designs. Con: Bad layout on battle screen (fonts are kind of hard to read; Monster's combo gauge can easily be mistaken with HP bar) ================================= Sounds: 10/10 Pro: Great sound effects and cast on voice actors/actresses Con: None yet. ================================= Gameplay: 7/10 Pro: New skills, new battle system, upgrade system, paradigm system Con: Very rigid gameplay (You can hardly explore anywhere except the current map you're on). You can only engage in battle with monsters that appeared on the screen. When fight in team, you only have control over the leader of the team. Other characters will act on their own automatically. ================================= Storyline: 9/10 Pro: Pretty good storyline Con: None
