I was surprised to see that my order for 12 furnace filters was shipped as 12 single items. Each box containing one filter was 18x24x4 and postage was $5. Because of the order total, I paid no shipping charges - Wal Mart paid it. Someone needs to look at how these products are picked off the shelf and packaged. Two boxes would have held 6 filters each. If Wal Mart is making a profit on this item, it is going to the USPS.

You simply cannot beat the price of this filter. I bought four, and will buy more. Filters generally last 60 days in my house, whether they are of medium quality or of the super expensive high quality. As long as you don't buy those cheap green filters, I'm convinced that they perform about the same. I highly recommend this one for the price.

THE 3M FILTRITE FILTERS ARE GOOD, ESPECIALLY THE FILTRETE 300 DUST REDUCTION VERSIONS WHICH DO NOT RESTRICT AIR FLOW THROUGH MY AIR CONDITIONER (AC) AS MUCH AS THE FINER (HIGHER NUMBERED) FILTERS. IF YOU REQUIRE FINER FILTERING, I WOULD BUY A SEPARATE, HEPA AIR FILTERING DEVICE, SUCH AS MODELS MADE BY HONEYWELL. THEY WILL NOT INTERFERE WITH THE HEAT EXCHANGE (AIR FLOW) FUNCTION OF YOUR AC UNIT. THE CRITICAL ITEM WHEN YOU ARE INSTALLING A NEW FILTER IS TO VERIFY THAT THE AIR FLOW, THROUGH THE FILTER AND INTO THE AC MATCHES THE DIRECTION OF THE AIR FLOW ARROW IMPRINTED ON ONE EDGE OF THE FILTER. AFTER INSTALLATION OF A NEW FILTER, I RUN A 3/4 INCH STRIP OF MASKING TAPE BETWEEN THE EXPOSED FILTER EDGE AND THE AC UNIT FACE TO PREVENT AIR LEAKAGE WHICH WILL BYPASS THE FILTER. I WOULD REPLACE DUST/DIRT FILTERS AFTER 90 DAYS USAGE AS SPECIFIED BY 3M. IF, AFTER 90 DAYS, THE FILTER FACE SHOWS A DEEP DISCOLORATION, I WOULD REDUCE THE USAGE TIME TO 80 DAYS. I MARKED THE FILTER "VALUE" RATING AVERAGE BECAUSE A FILTER SALE WAS ANNOUNCED A FEW DAYS AFTER I HAD ORDERED NEW FILTERS. MURPHY'S LAW OFTEN COMES INTO PLAY WITH SENIORS! DISCLOSURE: I own stock in both Wal-Mart and 3M companies.
Great way to buy these
I like buying these Filtrete filters online because it saves me time and hassles. They work fine in my house and I have never had an issue with them. They come shipped in their own flat box and they have always been fine right out of the box for me. I do like that I can keep them stored in the same box they arrive in until ready for use.
Good filters - but waste of packaging
Purchased 3 filters and EACH filter was shipped in a separate box with a TON of brown paper to fill in the box. Not sure of the reasoning for the extra boxes - as I think they could save money on shipping. I'm jus' not a fan of wasting boxes and paper like that. But the purchase came as expected and quick.
Sturdy and efficient!
This filter was just marked down from what was a competitive price so now it is an extraordinary value. It also is very sturdy and well made and , of course, does exceptionally good filtering. My place no longer gets dusty from pulling in outside air. I use it in conjunction with a large window fan.
WHAT! A! MESS!
I'm sure the product is just fine, but finding it in store was another story all together... it took me 35 minutes with an associate's help to find 2 single filters. it looked like a tornado had gone through the section of air filters, and when I asked for help finding the right one, I was told "it should be right down there" as she pointed down the aisle. I said "yeah it should be but have you been down there lately?" she looked down the aisle and said "yeah it's a mess, but it's always like that, give me a few and I can help". after finding what I needed the associate simply said "ok" and walked away, didn't try to clean it up, and in searching made it even worse. pic of aisle attached...
Very poor quality
I purchased this product using the Site to Store process. Fortunately I opened the box while still in the store and noticed that the product was definitely not as well made as the Purafilter 2000 that can be purchased for approx. $1 more in the store. Returned the Filtrete filter immediately.
You get what you pay for
I saw these online and thought they were a bargain. However, they arrived damaged in a big flimsy box stuffed with paper. The filters were bent and out of shape with no possibility of being used. The quality of the filters are not that great either. The box is big and cumbersome and not worth the cost of gas trying to get them back to the store for a return so I will toss them since I can't use them. I have ordered a different kind of filter from Walmart in the past and the quality was much better. You get what you pay for and these are not a bargain.
