    Poor design

As others have stated, if the head of the shredder doesn't line up just right with the basket, the shredder doesn't work. I have talked with Fellowes about this problem with the first W11C shredder I purchased. I was advised to flip the switch to R, take the head off, and use a pencil to hold down the switch on the under side of the head. I did all this and the shredder blades moved, telling me that the motor still worked. However, when I put the head back on the basket (carefully placing the right side of the on top of the basket first - right side is where the switch is located that triggers the motor) and tried to run the shredder (I or R), NOTHING HAPPENED! I am on my second W11C and have the same problem. Conclusion: poor design. This piece of equipment is too temperamental and unreliable to be of use in my home office. I will look at other brands and particularly for one with a different design. Don't waste your time on this piece of junk.

    Love the Fellowes Powershred W11C11

After a few years, we wore out our first W11C11due to very heavy use. We chose to buy the same one, as the first one had performed so well for us. Also, the W11C11 Fellowes shredder has a smaller crosscut than most in that price range, making the information on the sheets we are shredding less able to be read. I think part of the "trick" to getting shredders to last is to not allow the container to fill up near the top. When it does fill up close to the top the paper doesn't flow through the cutters well and jams are more likely to occur. Jams are hard on the motor. I also think using a little oil every time you empty the container also keeps the shredder in peak working condition. We are a happy repeat customer.

A Shredder that is worth the money!!!

I LOVE THIS SHREDDER!!! IT IS AWESOME!!! All shredders make noise. It is not loud like a Mack Truck so therefore, it is a noise that you can live with. It is fast and shreds sharp. It is great for the office and home. I have a lot of documents to shred at church and it has truly been showing off how great it is!!! I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE!!!

    Powerful compact shredder.

This is a somewhat noisy shredder but it is powerful, compact, and grinds paper into finer than average pieces of 5/32 X 1 3/8 inches. The basket is constructed so that you can easily look down through a slot on top and see how full it is while using shredder. The walls of the basket are fairly thin which probably amplifies the noise of the unit. The motor is rated at 4.5 amps and there is a convenient handle that swings up for lifting the motor and shredder mechanism off the basket for cleaning and disposal of shredded material. I would recommend this shredder to others based upon my experience so far over the last few days.

    Disipointed in overall quality

Found this shredder more difficult to service ( empty and move around the floor in our home office)than other shredders in the price range and it is extremely noisy. It dose the job it is designed to do but would not buy another like it.
