    1 Qt. heated pet bowl
I bought this bowl for my chickens to place in their run over the winter, so they would have fresh water and i wouldn't have to worry about it freezing. Works great for what it was designed for, thermostatically controlled and only draws 25 watts of power, and the water hasen't frozen, also made in the USA.

    50% ain't bad!
Bought two of these for my outdoor cats. One worked and the other didn't work. One was warm enough to keep cat's water from freezing, the other, ice cubes. Test in the store before bringing home.

    works great saves me $$$$

I purchased these bowls to provide unfrozen food to the feral cats on the farm, and they are working great. All the food is getting eaten, and it gives me the peace of mind that the food is not frozen. I know it's for water, but the cats will eat the snow for water.

Very pleased with quality and price...

First time purchase of heated water bowl, didn't even know there was such a thing, but the arrival of feral cats forced investigation. This product is perfect size and has worked, so far, in below freezing temperatures. No more frozen bowls to deal with. Very pleased with price and quality. Will be purchasing additional bowls to use for food.

    Perfect pet bowl

And yes I have recommended it to a friend. And she loved it. This is my 2nd purchase of these bowls. the previous lasted 2 years out in the winter elements. One is for the cat and the other I set up for the birds. I put a few rocks in the bottom to make it a it more natural to attract the birds. The birds and the cat both think these bowls are perfect!

    Just what we needed!

Two new bunnies, and with the weather getting cold I know how much of a hassle it is keeping the water from freezing. This product is working perfectly!

    1. All i can think of is for safety reasons, tripping hazards, ect. The unit only draws 25 watts of power.
    by davestoo
    2. This is a normal suggestion from manufacturers. I have been using these bowls for years and always with an extension cord.
    by GerryCase
    3. Your pet could chew the extension cord. It can't chew the bowl cord.
    by Zoarite
    4. If you use a heavy duty 16 gauge electrical ex. cord you should be ok, just not a cheap inexp. one., it would not be strong enough to support the power from the wattage of the bowl and could cause a fire.
    by CCkB
    5. I didn't see that, but, I'm using one and it works just fine.
    by WILLFEEDTHEMALL
    6. I do not know why but I have mine into an outdoor heavy duty extension cord. I check it constantly and nothing gets hot on it. I would say if you need to like we did just make sure to use a heavy duty cord.
    by Lilme63
    7. extension cord is fine, this unit draws about the same amps as a light bulb... maybe lawyers are worried about the connection getting wet, but one i have outside in the weather is always wet and works well, best though if outside connection be waterproofed.
    by romeopapa
    8. I don't think ANY object with a heating element should be used with an extension cord-even this low wattage one. However, check with your local electrical supply and see if there is a cord rated for heavier (heated) use.
    by Jennymanydots3
    9. That's probably because using an extension cord increases the possibility of water exposure to the connection between the cords. I've been using an extension cord for the one I have...but I have the bowl under a porch and the connection between the cords up high so that it won't get in the snow. It's been working just fine. As long as it keeps out of direct contact with moisture from the snow or rain, it should be fine.
