I had just baked my first cake, ever. This pan turned out to be the perfect size for the recipe. I will admit that I ever so thinly buttered the pan, for my own sense of security. I had never baked a cake before, and almost panicked when after 20 minutes in the oven (the time referenced in the recipe) all I saw was a pan full of a wiggly mass; I quickly recovered. I put the pan back in the oven and now, exploring completely unknown territory, checked the pan every 15 minutes.
Good things come to those who wait. After an hour in the oven, I had a cake. I waited 'till the pan cooled, flipped it onto a plate, and lo and behold, there was a perfectly molded pound cake. Yes, I highly recommend this pan to anyone, particularly a novice. If something goes wrong with your first cake, it won't be 'cause of this pan.
