Great external hard drive for your DVR.

I am using this for extra storage for my DVR and it is great. I am recording a lot HD programs since i hooked it up and i still have two thirds capacity left. If you are going to buy a external hardrive for your DVR, this is the one to buy. It is very quiet and does not run hot, and has plenty of storage.

Not happy with it

I ordered this esata hard drive so I could have it before a certain event I wanted to record since my dvr's memory was all used up. I confirmed that it would be delivered before the event and it did arrive two days before. The problem is it didn't include the esata cable which is the only way of connecting it to my directv dvr. It doesn't indicate whether it comes with the connection or not when ordering so I assumed it would. So I went in search of one locally and was unsuccesful. My only option was to order one on line which took another 5 days. So needless to say I couldn't record what I ordered it for. After receiving it I find that it runs very hot and is noisy. If I turn it off my dvr it reverts back to the hard drive on the dvr. Which at that point I have to following the procedure of hooking it up by unplugging the dvr connecting the esata hard drive then plugging the dvr back in and waiting about 15 minutes for the dvr to be operable again. I would have thought the external hard drive would have merged with the dvr hard drive. Which it does not. So now I am worried about how long the external hard drive is going to last at the temperature it operates at. And if it does fail I of course will lose all of the contents. I am considering returning it.
