Great!
Wall-Mart called me to pick it up on the second day I ordered it. There are others out there, but this one is Cheap and Good. It took me 5 minutes to install. I have a Jeep Wrangler garage kept, that I don't use very much, and it tends to drain the battery. So this was a great solution for me.

Poor fit. Look elsewhere.
Seemed like a good plan until I actually tried to install it. The post on this is too small to fit the incoming negative cable clamp. Might be good if you are bolting the cable, but if you intend to clamp it with the existing hard ware as I wanted to, you're out of luck without shimming it somehow. The other end fits the battery terminal fine. It's just the incoming post that is sized wrong. Maybe someone screwed up at the factory and sized it for a positive clamp, which is slightly smaller than a negative? (Just a guess since I didn't bother trying it on that cable.) I can't speak to the additional quality issues mentioned by others, since I just got it. (And will be replacing it soon with a better one.) But the bad sizing alone is a major problem unless you are bolting it to the incoming cable using the hold in the post. I guess there's a good reason why the price is cheap. Low price with quality to match.

Battery disconnect

This review is on the battery disconnect sold in the stores. It is marked on the package as Everstart Marine Swan Terminal Disconnect, #936W. I paid just under $5 for it. This disconnect should be used on the negative terminal only! Package states that it can be used on either positive or negative terminals. Mine fit the negative terminal perfectly. It should be seated down on the terminal as far as possible. The negative cable clamp fit the male post (with hole) perfectly. Both connections tightened down with no problems (Ford F450 chassis, class C motorhome, V10 Ford ). When used in the disconnect mode, the green thumb screw will be completely removed. It seems that this is how this device was meant to be used. Simply turning the green thumb screw to the left does not break the battery connection as might be the case on other manufacturers products. This disconnect is robust and I tightened both clamp to battery, and negative battery cable down very tightly with no indications of any cracking or compromising of the metal. Time will tell how this disconnect holds up. My rv is stored for a couple of months at a time. I was a bit skeptical after reading the many reviews, but for 5 bucks decided to give it a try. I did not encounter any of the negative issuses that others have experienced.

Does what it is supposed to do...

I wanted a simple on/off switch but this works pretty much the same way. Just loosen the knob a few turns and the battery is disconnected.

replaced one I had for several years

Just put this on the other day, seems to be fine. The other one I had is the exact same model, it wore out eventually, would rather replace these every few years than a battery! It's on my truck that doesn't get run very often.

1. remove negative cable from battery post. Install brass disconnect over battery post. install negative cable onto brass post.
by gunnerh
2. You hook the battery where the bolt is and hook your cable to the back part. When you unscrew the green knob the back part comes out. To hook back up you push the cable in the part on the battery and screw the green knob tight.
by byrumjr
3. Just screw it onto the negative terminal of the battery. Turning the green knob physically disconnects the battery. Very simple!
