WORST PURCHASE I MADE
Worst purchase I have ever made! It literally says on the battery "Maintenance free" but I had to fill with distilled water 2 times within the 1 month I owned them! Also after 1 month of use I noticed 3 out of the 6 cells have already started growing sulfate on the cell and started dying faster than when I first purchased them! I used 2 of these in my 5th wheel camper and was hooked up to electricity 99% of the time! Never again will I buy these batteries! WASTE OF $165!

Long lasting if maintained

I have had great success with these batteries. I have one from 2012 that I am just now replacing and 2 others from 2013 still going strong. Always immediately charge after use. Regularly check fluid. Distilled water only. Boat application.

Last one lasted from April 2007 till yesterday

I bought this battery 10 years ago. A few days ago I went to charge up my cranking and deep cycle batteries and found this one would not hold a charge anymore. So I went today to get the bigger Maxx $99 battery but saw this on for < $81 Figured since the last one lasted 10 years, might as well get another one. It's on the charger right now and if you didn't know this, ALWAYS FULLY CHARGE A NEW BATTERY BEFORE FIRST USE!

1. The description for this battery says the Reserve Capacity is 65 min, but per the chart at the WalMart Battery Finder website that's the RRC (Repetitive Reserve Capacity, which is how many times it can be deep cycled and recharged before losing half it's capacity)! The Reserve Capacity stated there is 180 min, which is a BIG difference. I've noticed this problem with several of the marine battery listings. Trailer Boats magazine had an article on marine batteries a while back that included a table of batteries with specs such as Reserve Capacity and mAh, and included several EverStart marine batteries. Based on this table it looks like the factor for converting RC to mAh is 0.75 for this brand and type of battery. So given a spec of 180 min Reserve Capacity, the mAh of the battery would be 135 amp-hours, which is more inline with what you would expect from a deep cycle battery of this size.

2. 12 volt battery.

3. The sticker on mine from several years back lists 109 amp hours. Additionally, the EverStart group 27 deep cycle battery I viewed in the store last week also listed 109 amp hours.

4. Hi Art. Although Walmart gives woefully incomplete battery information in most cases, I have found a guideline which may be helpful. An Interstate batteries fact sheet says that the amp/hr rating of a battery is usually approximately 0.6 times the RC. In this case the RC is stated at 65 minutes which would calculate to 39 amp hrs as an estimate. For RV or deep cycle marine use, I think that is inadequate at best. Just my humble opinion though. Here is the URL for the fact sheet: http://interstatebatteries.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Marine-RV_DeepCycleBooklet_PN200004_Printable.pdf

5. I don't have one on hand, but it's listed on the top of the battery so if you go to a Walmart store and they're in stock, you can see it. For instance, on the top of my 24DC Everstart, it says 101 AMP Hours, so you have to figure the 27DC would be at LEAST 110. Considering someone else said 135, that may be correct. This number changes as new models come out.

1. If you do not fully charge a deep cycle battery before you first use it, it will not give you the life expectancy you hope for. Period! They say the batts are fully charged, but as noted above, if they sit for any length of time, the charge bleeds off, and they start to sulfate up. Look at the date on the batt. If it is more than a few months old, do not buy it. I have been using deep cycle batts for trolling motors for almost 50 years, and this has been very evident to me over the years. Charge the sucker fully before it is first used.

2. Nothing saying you have to. It comes fully charged from the store.
by EverstartExpert
3. You should ALWAYS fully charge a new battery! Unless a store has particular turn over rate on batteries, they may sit on a shelf for months. One guide I read said never buy a new battery with a sticker date of more than 3 months because without being charged the battery starts to sulfate. https://www.pacificpowerbatteries.com/aboutbatts/deep cycle battery faq/dcfaq12.html

4. I purchased 2 of these a few weeks ago to use on solar setups. Both registered at 13.7 volts when hooked up to the charge regulator, which is close to a full charge. It would probably be good to top them off before using them, but you don't have to.
