As for the icing you mix that yourself -

Yes, the cake pan comes with a recipe to make Wilton buttercream icing and it tells you what to buy to color the icing. There are also step-by-step instructions on making and decorating the cake. I bought Wilton decorating icing in the colors that I needed, so I wouldn't have to color my own. The store bought icing worked well and looked amazing, but didn't taste as well as the buttercream icing would.

got this for my daughters 2nd birthday its so easy to make. the end result looks FANTASTIC. i used liquid food die from a cake shop so i needed to use more but i have used Wilton die on a different cake and that was great. im from Australia and i had a bit of trouble working out what some of the ingredients were, corn starch is corn flour and when it says to use vegetable shortening i just used margarine and butter, really whisk it till its as white and you can get it so you can get the colours to the best they can. also i found out that if u make the cake the day before and ice it and put in the fridge the colours get brighter.. good luck and have fun!!!!

It made a great cake. Baby was thrilled she got her favorite sesame street character party with Elmo for a cake. Took 3 bottles of red to get color in icing right.

I bought this to use for my son's birthday cake. It worked really well. I definitely would recommend that you grease it liberally so the cake comes out easily. If not I think it would stick in the pan. Otherwise a great product and my son loved that he had Elmo for his cake.

This pan worked awesome! My son loved the Elmo cake that I made for his second birthday! The directions were clear and the cake was easy to decorate. I was expecting it to be way more difficult than it actually was.

I made 'this cake 2 years ago and it was adorable. I want to make it again for another grandchild, but I cannot find the paper directions. I have googled it and the only directions I find say "bake the cake". I think I remember that it was 2 box cake mixes. Does anyone have specific instructions such as how many boxes, oven temp. and how long to cook It? I would really appreciate it!

I loved this cake pan! I've made it twice and had no problems at all getting it out of the pan! There were no cracks or breaks...! Just follow the instructions! The icing instructions were great too! My son loved it for his 2nd birthday! Here's a picture of how mine turned out!

It's a great pan, just be sure to grease it so the cake doesn't stick! Walmart took forever to actually get the cake pan to me, I got it a week after my nephew's birthday and had to make a normal sheet cake instead :(

Great for little kids

THis pan saved my son's birthday party. He wanted an Elmo cake and the snowstorm hit and bakery didn't deliver! I bought this pan and it was stremely easy to use. Just be sure you great and flower every nook and cranny so it doesn't stick. This is a very detailed cake pan and it was a hit!
