    very good tv

bought this tv last week. for the price i'm very impressed.... actually picture wise it's as good as any of the other tvs. yeah as many have said, the sound is not exactly great, but honestly it's not that bad, just don't expect movie cinema surround sound quality, actually if you turn on the "surround sound" option in the menu it sounds considerably worse. it does have both a digital audio out and "headphone" output that can be used for external speakers or connecting to a home theater system if you want better sound. i don't have cable tv, but for 1080p movies on my connected computer with the PC input / vga (what i bought it for) it works great, also works great with consoles via hdmi. the buttons are in an easy to reach spot, and labeled unlike my last two tvs (one being a samsung 52" that died) which made setup easier. i almost didn't buy it because the one in the store looked pretty bad, but i decided to check the settings and they were set really badly, even just putting it back to "default" was a huge improvement, then a little more adjustment and it looked as good as the other much more expensive tvs. the picture was taken with a $20 android phone, it's the picture that's blurry not the tv. :)

    No Digital Tuner

I went to Walmart just looking to get a decent tv that wasn't too expensive but would get the job done. This one was well priced and seemed to have all the same features as the bigger name brands. However as soon as I got it home I discovered that it does not have a digital tuner! Therefore I was only able to pick up about 12 channels when I should get closer to 80. When I called my cable provider, they told me that most of the TVs at Walmart do not have this capability, therefore you must also purchase a converter in order to get all of the channels. Upon further research I discovered that this one model of the TV is basically the only one that does not have it! Almost all other sizes of the Element TVs have a digital tuner, but for some reason the 40 inch does not. This is very poor design and it has caused me a lot more trouble than necessary. Make sure you look into the TV you buy because just because it says it's "digital" does not actually mean anything apparently!!!
This unit is not any different from our other models. It is equipped with an ATSC tuner which allows the reception of digital channels.

Great TV for a great price!

Just purchased this today at the Walmart Pre-Black Friday sale for a crazy low price! Was skeptical since it was so cheap, and not a name brand. I was also worried because I noticed a lot of people complaining about the LED TVs from Walmart having broken inner screens. When moving it, and taking it home I was so careful not to jolt the box around, took it out of the box with the utmost care and my screen was flawless! I went with two friends who also purchased one each, and their screens were fine too. Its a 1080p 60Hz, which usually the cheap TVs come with only 720p and 25Hz, which gives you a low quality picture. Could not be happier! The only mental issue I had was assembling the stand connected to the TV. It looked like it wouldn't support the TV very well with the 6 screws in each part, but it did its job and is standing strong. A side note is the remote supplied with the TV is very, very light - not heavy and bulky like most are, they even includes the AAA batteries and a simplified sheet of paper with the cable box remote codes to program it! The best part? Being LED is it only uses $12 of electricity a year!

    Good Beginner TV

Bought this TV about a month ago for the living room in my one bedroom apartment. The couch is about 8 feet away and this 40" TV is the perfect size. Mine is hanging on the wall. Hanging it was easy. Got HD cable from the local provider. Picture quality of regular channels is ok, and picture quality of HD is quite good. What has really surprised me is the sound quality. No its not Dolby Surround by any means, but it is very clear and loud. The volume goes to 100 but I never find myself needing to have it higher than 6 or 7. So far it has been a very good TV for the money.

    Beautiful picture

Love it the picture is amazing the only thing is u have to get surround sound system the volume is not that good but for the price and quality of the tv it's not such a bad thing a very easy fix!! Very happy with the tv would def recommend it!!!

    Great value!

This tv is definitely not the highest quality picture; however, it is a great value. A 40" tv for $199 is a great bargain. It has 3 HDMI connections, USB connectors, and several other connectors giving the ability to hook up many different devices to it. I have connected the laptop directly to the tv and am able to play anything on the laptop straight to the tv. Sound quality is good which includes surround sound. Good tv for the spare room or for the children.

Amazing TV for the best price!

I just bought one to replace a VIZIO in bedroom and noticed the quality of image of this TV is much better than the VIZIO. Now, I'm going to replace my kids' TV also...

Well At Least Element Pays Shipping Costs!

I bought this 40" Element because I had a 32" that I used as a computer monitor. The 32' has been great. The 40" that I bought to replace the 32" as a monitor not so great. The 32" is now in my bedroom and is still going strong after 3 years. I read online that the larger Element TVs weren't all that great. I bough one just the same based on my experience with the 32". So the 40" died after 99 days. I use it as a monitor and as such the thing runs a minimum of 9 hours a day, just about every day as I am a construction estimator and do all of my work remotely from home. So here's where I'm at. I called customer service for Element, they were great. The told me to send them a picture of the front, back, and serial plate , along with my receipt. No problem given smart phones. I put the box in the shed when I bought it and will ship it back to them in the factory box. So here are my recommendations> 1) We live in a throw away society, nothing lasts . 2) keep the box 3) Buy a warranty which I did, It wont kick in till next year, they pay to ship & fix or replace. 4) The first year make sure the TV company pays for shipping to warranty the unit, Element Does. Other wise it's on your dollar. 5) Have a backup, I'm buying another Element for reasons 1-4. 6) Stuff happens, it'll take 5-6 weeks to get my warranty TV back, just the way it is. Buy a backup and don't stress about it, buy a warranty and don't stress about it. When it comes to big TVs, make sure the company pays to ship it back for repairs in the first year, otherwise don't buy it, or just buy a new one it'll probably cost you the same and you'll have a TV/monitor. I looked at the Sceptre TV, good reviews, but if it breaks you pay to ship it! Sorry I'm buying another Element. I heard recently that Element is moving their big TV manufacturing back to the US. Right now I think they all come out of South Carolina. US jobs, I'm all for that! It sucks that it broke, but stuff happens!
Thank you very much for your comments and for sharing your experience. We appreciate your support.<br />Happy holidays!
