I don't usually review, but I had to share and hopefully help others who are desperately looking for a small cordless vacuum that can handle both bare floor and carpet. This is my sixth vacuum in a year. Seriously.
The electrolux comes with a light, simple stand that you can place over the plug in the floor if you have cats who chew wires like mine do. It looks quiet and almost elegant with a glowing blue charge light on the front of the device. It doesn't have a telescoping handle, but it doesn't really need to. It takes up about the same space as a broom and dustpan.
Assembly is downright EASY. Screw the big screw in to connect the handle to the base. Plug in the stand (plug located on the inside of the stand which is nice, as I said, so you can hide the plug or protect wires from cats) and place the vacuum on the stand to charge. Ouila.
The vacuum seems to charge fairly quickly but I haven't timed it out. The charge lasts about 20 minutes which is what they advertise. It has a small rolling brush which can get wound up with hair, which is easily removed, not like some vacuums. The little wheels on the front can actually pop out to clear out pet hair which is a great feature, since I lost one vacuum to the wheels locking up due to the hair. I haven't had to pop the wheels out yet though, they clean fairly easily.
The vacuum works well on hardwood, tile, carpet and area rugs. It's great for daily use, and I like to multitask while cooking because the meal is usually ready for dishing up when the charge runs out.
My only caution is for those who might be looking for a vacuum to pick up messes like cereal and spilled dog food. The little roller brush tends to spit these out, but works well on things like dirt and small twigs and foxtails tracked in from outside, (shockingly) pet hair if used on a regular basis, dust bunnies, cat litter and other small items.
The collection bin is pretty small so you will probably have to clean once during the cleaning and again at the end of the charge, maybe more depending on how much there is to pick up. I don't really mind this, it shows how well the vacuum is picking up. It is easy to pop out and empty the bin, though the filter can create a bit of dust when cleaning, which is easy and necessary when emptying the bin to which it is attached. If you take my advice and do this while cooking, probably better wash your hands after cleaning it! Any dust or dirt that ends up on the floor from cleaning is easily cleaned up again with the vacuum!
I'm going to reiterate and say I love this vacuum. I have an even mix of hard floor and carpet and I have finally found a vacuum that can competently do both!
