As people stated it isn't a thick coat but I knew that when I bought it. I combine it with the Ascent vest underneath---both in the beautiful purple color.

Eddie Bauer First Ascent
Most comfortable jacket I ever put on.
This jacket had all the features I needed for wintertime activities. Perfect for walking, hiking and skiing. Lightweight but warm. Easily compressed to stuff in my backpack. Nice fit. Not too fitted, not too loose. Moved with my body. I did not want to take it off all winter.
Best Jacket I've Ever Owned
I waited to post my review until I had tried this jacket out in several different circumstances. Some of my favorite things about this jacket is that it's lightweight, waterproof, blocks all wind chill, and so warm! However, it doesn't overpower you or make you feel stuffy. If I need to take it off, it's so light that I don't feel like I have any bulk or weight when I tie it around my waist. I live in warm California, and I've used this jacket in moderate temps, in the rain, and when it is very cold and snowy. I was afraid that I'd have to save this jacket for only very cold occasions, but it seems all-weather to me. I'm 5'10", 145lbs, with extra length in my torso and arms, and the medium-tall size was perfect. It isn't completely form-fitting, but the cut of the jacket is flattering. Best purchase ever, worth every penny!
Excellent jacket, perfect Plum color
Truly, if you can purchase the jacket on sale, you will love the EB/FA 2.0 microtherm with a hood. As a comparison, we have the Kuhl (long jacket) from two years ago and the EB/FA jacket is warmer, even as a traditional hip-length cut. The Plum color is perfect and goes with just about everything we own, EB or other manufacturers. Temperature-wise, the jacket is thinner than the Kuhl but somehow warmer. The fill factor by EB must be more dense and compact compared to our Kuhl full-length jacket. At the very base of the jacket, the hips area is a bit snug (or seals tightly) to prevent air getting up through the jacket.
