Not a great vacuum but ok
This was a great little back to vacuum but I never realized how much it lacked in section until I ended up getting the V-6 Dyson this is not a very bad back vacuum but if you have the chance for a couple more dollars to get the V-6 my next one will be the V-8

    Design Flaws
The power of this vacuum is wonderful - more so on carpet. It does not pick up thin pieces of paper from a hardwood floor. I find this product to be very annoying for the reasons below. I consider them to be major design flaws and wonder why they weren't discovered during testing. 1. It does not have an ON/OFF switch. You must hold down the red button while vacuuming, and if you relax your finger it stops. After a few minutes, my finger hurt. 2. The vacuum doesn't stand up by itself. It doesn't stand up even when leaning against something. If you need to put it aside while moving furniture, you can't, because it doesn't stand up. You have to go the room for the holder. 3. It is very difficult to get to the roller in order to dislodge something such as hair, string or a rubber band. You need to unscrew the roller cover. What pain. In short, it may have terrific suction, but it is not the most convenient thing to use. I would not have bought it. if I knew about the design flaws. I would not recommend it to anyone. It is also very expensive. Maybe if the changes are made, I may asked for an exchange.

Finally a cordless vac that really works !

I bought and returned many cordless floor vacs over the past few years. Finally the Dyson did everything that it claims to do and more. It actually holds the charge as long as is claims to do. I have tile and laminate floors and it picks up everything. My husband loves it for the car interior carpets too. I have owned it for 2 months now and absolutely think its the best.

    Wonderful!

We purchased this delightful product yesterday (4/3/11) and it is fantastic! I love it! I read all of the reviews before we went out and I can honestly say that the only negative review item that holds any water whatsoever is that you must hold the trigger down to run the machine. I can see that this would get annoying or painful if you have arthritis in your hands. Every single one of the other negative reviews are absolute rubbish in my opinion: The machine can very easily be leaned up against a wall when you need to stop working (to move an item for example). I've had no problem doing this. The roller is the absolutely easiest one to clean I have ever had on a vacuum. You simply unlock it and it easily slides out for cleaning. How could this be considered difficult?? This vacuum is versatile and light. The cord free design lets me move all over my house without having to unplug and move a cord. It's got great suction and I was amazed at the amount of crud it picked up off my already vacuumed rug! I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has either a smaller house or just wants to do daily touch ups of rooms or clean up quick messes. I would definitely want a larger vacuum if my house was substatially larger but this little guy is PERFECT for me and my family!

    This is a 10!

I have owned and thrown out every hand held battery operated sweeper on the market. This is the one I was waiting for. I give it a 10! It is perfect for that everyday quick sweep through my small house. The power is FAB and the lightweight ease is spectacular. I love it. The swivel is so cool. This machine is worth the money. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but so far, I am totally pleased with this piece of equipment. High recommend.

Everything I Need, All In One

This is an awesome handheld AND a stick-vac in all in one, and worth the price. It's everything I need for daily touchups, removing cat fur from upholstered furniture and carpeted steps, picking up crumbs and such off the kitchen tile floor, hardwood, throw rugs, area rugs, carpeting, windowsills, baseboards & chair rail, auto interior, etc. The power driven rotating brush attachment (with the long wand for floors or as a handheld) is great. It comes with all the attachments I could need. I was concerned about battery life before I bought it, but after more than a month of constant use, it's never been an issue. It only ran out once, when I'd used it for a really long time. I don't use my DC24 Animal Ball vaccum as much as between regular cleaninings because this one is so effective, quick, easy, cordless and fun.

    Great!

I have only had this for two days but I love it so far! It is great for everyday cleaning. The maneuverability is fantastic. I have used it to clean the carpeted floors in my boys' bedrooms. It is great at getting around all the toys for a quick cleanup without having to move everything. It even leaves those freshly vacuumed lines in the carpet. I have also used it on my hardwood in the common areas with absolute satisfaction. My floor passed the "bare feet" test after using the Dyson. It is light and so easy to use that I can vacuum while toting my 5 month old baby in the other arm. The trigger can get a bit tiring to use and wouldn't be great for anyone suffering from arthritis, but serves a great purpose of being able to switch on and off quickly and easily. It assembles quickly and easily, the attachments switch quickly and easily, it goes on the charging dock quickly and easily and it stores nicely. The short battery life was a concern for us but it has been more than adequate to get the job done. I love it!

    DE35 Multi floor

I have eight cats. They are not all in the same place in my house, but cleaning tracked kitty litter and cat hair are constant problems. I purchased the DC35 about a month ago and find that it does what its manufacturers claim. It picks up fine cat hair and litter. I clean daily, and it has made this job so much easier. I highly recommend it if you have cats. It is also important to mention that It has not lost its charge for any of my cleaning projects.

    hit the jackpot again!

I already own one of your full sized vacuums that I would not want to be without - now I can add this one to the list. Each one serves a different function. I have tried two or three different brands of cordless cleaners. This is so far superior that it makes me laugh to think I was really using those others. I was a little doubtful when I thought of buying this - but I guess it is true to some extent - you get what you pay for. It does a wonderful job - even on my ceramic tile - grout and all. It is so convenient to just take this off the dock (genius the way this works) and clean up the crumbs and mess without taking the big one out (well, I didn't really take it out as much as I should have). I do not mind that the power button stays on until you let go, because I feel that this saves the battery charge for longer cleaning time - easy to empty like the others, take the long wand off and zip right up the stairs , although at my age I'm not zipping anywhere much! . Just an overall winner - yes, I hit the jackpot with Dyson, once again. Thank you.

    Just love it.!

I Just love this new hand held vacum. The extended want makes vacuming easy, no bending over to reach hard to reach places like under tables and under counters and in corners. It seems to get every nook and cranny easily. I vacumed all the tile floors in my home and quickley touched up the carpets and still had battery life. I have a golden retriver so I always have alot of hair to pick up daily and the convience of having this vacum ready to go at a moments notice is great. I was very impressed how well it did my carpeted stairs. I would recommend this vacum to anyone who needs to quickly vacum on a daily basis such as dog hair, grass or anything that ay be brought in on feet. Great quick pick up vacum!

Thank you for providing a review of the DC35. We value your feedback and noticed that you have some concerns about the brush maintenance and the trigger mechanism. The brush bar can be removed by unlocking a plastic screw on the side of the cleaner head using a coin such as a nickel or a quarter. For more detailed instructions please visit the support section of our website at www.dyson.com/support/default.asp. We are unable to provide an alternate on/off option. The DC35 is designed primarily for quick clean-ups, not as a replacement for a full-size Dyson vacuum. By pressing the power button only when you are cleaning and releasing it when you are not you will make more efficient use of the battery life. However, we would be happy to offer further assistance. Please email us your contact information at askdysonus@dyson.com or call us at 1-866-693-9766. We are available Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. CST.

    2. Not sure what you mean by battery? You do need to use the charger or else you would buy a corded model. Once charged you unplug the charger from the vacuum and go. When you go to charge in the part of the charger that is in the wall turns green when first plugged in and you see a green light, when done charging it turns off. You can vacuum for 20 minutes and your booklet states, if you have on high suction like the book says it only goes for 6 minutes. I have found the regular setting that last 20minutes does the job.

    1. Hi Elaine, thank you for your interest in our technology. The DC35 and V6 Motorhead are two different cordless vacuums. The DC35 is our very first stick style vacuum and the V6 Motorhead is our latest and most powerful cordless vacuum. The DC35 features a motorized brush bar in the cleaner head whereas the V6 Motorhead features our latest direct drive brush bar which is more powerful and features a wider diameter to help reduce hair tangling around the brush. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Best wishes, Joe Dyson Customer Service
