I procrastinated for years on buying a Dyson due to the high cost. However, having a Newfoundland dog became a challenge to other vacuums. I finally bit the bullet and bought the Animal 2. Holy cow, I can't believe the power of this thing! It's picking up dirt and fur that our old vacuum could never do. I'm convinced so far and time will tell if it continues to perform at the same level. I sure hope so.

Worth the money... so far
POWER. LIGHT. AGILE.
My last vacuum was the first animal that dyson came out with and it finally gave out on me after close to 10 years. I wanted the most powerful vacuum available and it sounded like this one was the solution and I'm usually very underwhelmed when I receive a lot of products these days. It seems like a lot of companies go for "ok", we've become so accustomed to average that when we use a product we always think "it's good enough" "it does its job". But this, this went above my expectations.
From the looks of it, I thought it would be a bit heavier than animal 1 but it almost feels lighter. One of the reviews I read someone actually complained the suction was too strong that they could barely move it. That is the sound of someone who needs some exercise in their life bc I definitely didnt get that feeling from this vacuum, dont get me wrong, its powerful but not to the point its unmaneuvarable. All the little problems I had with the first animal have been perfected by dyson. Such as the extension that was very stiff and difficult to use, the short cord, and the small container. I'd definitely order from Dyson itself bc it comes with 6 attachments where as others will only give you 3.
You want the mike tyson of vacuums? The d rose? The adrian peterson? The conor mcgregor? THIS, this here is the one.
This is the one.
Best vacuum ever!!!
I love this vacuum! My Dyson Animal 2 is by far the best vacuum I have ever owned. The first time I used it, it picked up so much dirt from an area rug that I had to take a picture of it (above.) I couldn't believe how much dirt all my rugs had been holding, and shame on my last vacuums. My Dyson is very lightweight and easy to push, and I'm pretty petite. Everything about it makes sense, it is easy to empty, easy to maintain, the attachments are great, and I can carry it up and down stairs easily. And it saves me time because, on the first go-round, it picks up all the dirt from 2 teenagers, two dogs, and a husband.
Love! It was crazy all of the dust and pet hair that this vacuum pulled out of the carpet. Easy to use and fairly lightweight.
I just purchased the Dyson Upright Animal 2. I used it the night it arrived and it was ridiculous, the difference between our old vacuum (definitely not a Dyson) and this one. I had just vacuumed our living room 2 days prior and the picture attached is what the Dyson captured after 1 vacuuming. Unbelievable how well it works compared to the other vacuum we had. Highly recommend to anyone.
Awesome vacuum. I have a dog and 2 cats and it picks up all the hair. It really gets into the pile and picks up dirt and the pile looks new again.
Very nice vacuum. Cleans so much so fast. Cost a lot, but worth every penny and has a 5 year warranty.
Unbelievable! Great product!
I previously owned a Dyson and thought it was fabulous! This new Dyson is even BETTER! It is more powerful with even more suction which is exactly what I need as the owner of two Golden Retrievers! I vacuumed my carpets with my Old Dyson the day prior to the arrival of my new vac and was shocked to see how much my new vac brought up! You will not be disappointed!
Dog fur gets caught between brush and motor
First off the suction on this vacuum is wonderful and I have not had the problems others mention of it being too difficult to use on carpet. We have a golden retriever which is why we bought the Animal ball 2 to join our Animal V8. Unfortunately it requires weekly maintenance to pull dog fur that's intertwined between the brush rollers and the motor. Uploaded are photos for a better description. If you don't do this frequently you can smell the machine overheating which I'm guess severely limits it's life expectancy. It's disappointing that such an expensive machine requires this process every few uses.
This unite is the first Dyson we've owned. Just getting new carpet, we wanted to purchase a new vacuum that had a good reputation behind it. The suction and mobility of the ball are its best features. However, we are experiencing some big disappointments in its performance and handling. The so-called auto height adjust doesn't do its job in the transition between bare flooring and carpeting. Our carpet is approximately 5/8" plush. There have been times when the roller will quit on its own when using on the carpet, resulting in multiple attempts to resume it with the mode buttons. Additionally, there are times it will take both arms and all the strength you've got to push the unit and get the job done - auto adjust seems too small a height range. Both my husband and I have had workout sweats using it. Filters have all been cleaned and are not the blame. There have also been a few pulled carpet threads along the way. Returning the unit to stand up position can sometimes take two or three tries to get it to stay up, then while rolling it to your next location will fall back down again. We have owned it for 4 months hoping to get used to its difficult quirks and handling, but now feel we've made the wrong pricey purchase. Hoping we can return it.
